  1. they pretty much got the whole door. well, a small enclosure with a 6" hole just past the magnet of the driver that leads to the door, so I dont think its that the enclosure is too small. Ill play around with the settings tomorrow and see what sounds good.
  2. the mids are installed into custom fiberglass pods in the doors. alright, I guess I will just st the HU at 80 when the subs are on, and drop it to 50 when I dont want the subs (generally means I want it quieter, not just minus bass) and turn it up less. If im really trying to be loud, I listen to it at 45, normally drive around at maybe 35-40, sometimes only 30 (depending on album im listening to) and then with the subs off I listen somewhere in the 25-35 range. I have yet to leave the settings like I usually have them, except the sub off, and listen to the mids at 45(volume) to see how they do, I should probably do that. and Im not trying to get the bass "as loud" as the rest of the freq. it plays when I have the subs off, it just seems a 50Hz filter cuts most the bass out, and a 63 seems to really cut out all the bass. I dont think my mids lack in playing 63+ tones, because I have a few sweeps (20-20k with no subs doesnt seem to really show dips in response til it gets to the highs)(100-10 with subs on and crossed at 80, it seems like the mids do fine with the 100 - ~80 part) if I can safely have the mids crossed at 80 at volume level 45, should I be able to run no HPF at 25 safely? (I know noone can give me a 100% answer, but a good guess is fine with me)
  3. I was listening to my stereo on the way home and stopped to get some pizza and waited in the car with the stereo on. I decided to not be a prick and I turned the sub off. I missed the bass so I turned my HPF off at the HU, which I usually have set at 63, and the mids actually do pretty well with the bass. I turned it back on and set it at 50Hz and it wasnt bad but theres so much bass im missing with it on. I am going to continue running the HPF at 63 when I have the sub on, but the times I turn the sub off I would like to disable the HPF to the mids to get some bass back. I was thinking of going to the amp and setting its HPF so that if I turn the HU's HPF off, the amps HPF takes over. what do you think I should set this at, 35-40? I listened to it only for about 8 minutes, but I had it kinda loud, and the mids didnt feel warm at all, no smell or anything, and they sounded pretty clear while playing, is it safe to just run no HPF while I have the subs off.
  4. buy 2 15" flatlynes or else.... convinced?
  5. the gasket isn't seated right all the way around the sub. that's why it looks funny.. yeah, I noticed that it wasnt seated right, I just didnt think it would drop enough to reveal as much of the surround as on the other side. any vids of this thing?
  6. yes sundown amps are underrated (the 1200 can do 1500+). but why dont you run your subs to a 2 ohm load and get something like a kicker/alpine/fosgate etc that does their rated power at 2 ohms
  7. This one yours ? That would be it. is it the rubber around the mounting edge thats making it look like that? I can tell it isnt sitting just like the other side, but it doesnt seem like its off enough to make the surround so much higher on one side, almost looks like the cone is in there crooked or something...
  8. I could have the math slightly off, mostly because Im not exactly sure on how you calculate a flared port (goes from about 2-3/16 to 2" within about 1/8 inch inside the box, and then goes from 2 to maybe 1-5/8 in 3 inches, then back out to 2 in 1-3/8, and then to 2-1/2 in the last 1/4 inch) I just made it simple since I dont need to know exactly and figured it as a 2" straight port. (I know how to do the math for all that, the part I dont know is how it all affects tuning) anyways, it is .3186 @ 62.2. Im designing the box for the 12 right now, if I get it figured Ill post it up. does the same 12-16 in^2 port area per cube still apply in HT? just seems weird cuz I dont ever think Ive seen a HT box with a 112 In^2 port.
  9. ??? how low do your speakers go? I would have to check again but I think I have my LPF set at 80 and the HPF on the deck at 80, maybe 63 but I dont remember, I still play with them alot to see what I think sounds best.
  10. damn, I was pretty close, congratulations tommy you lucky bastard
  11. not saying kenwood or pioneer make better even similar quality amps, its just that most of the big names that lots of people have, alot of the amps are 2 ohm stable. I dont remember exactly what line/lines of kicker amps did this, but ive heard the bass vibrating the amp can cause the settings to change and people put tape over the knobs to stop them from turning, might wanna make sure it wasnt the kx series you got, otherwise your correctly set gain wont be correctly set for very long.
  12. 4 subs and 4 amps and you cant affford wiring..... .... j/k, man 8000 watts and 4 subs, cant wait to see this.
  13. your gonna get ripped apart with that as your first post, but before you do, Ill give you a little help. for the 1500, if your getting 1 sub, get a D2, 2 subs get a D1, once you decide then someone can help you wire it. this also assumes youre getting a best of a sub that can take all that power. if you dont need all the power the amp has, get a single D1 and run it at 2 ohms. that way if you ever get a second sub then the amp will still be suitable. for the 2500, it depends on how much space you have and how much money you have. could get 2 nice 12's that can take the power, or get one beastly 18's that can handle that much. but the 18 could very well take up more space than the 2 12's, but probably be cheaper than the 2 12's. also, do you want it to be really loud, or sound really good? but you might wanna hurry up and read the noob guidelines and then come back with the vehicle, music you listen to, status of the electical systems in the vehicles, goals as far as output or SQ, etc...
  14. 2 whores 1 gulp? ahh, why would you even bring that up... I never wanted to think of that again. I still remember going to a friends and he says hey you gotta watch this, shoulda been skeptical since he left the room. I actually saw a couple on here, like the black leather going up that chicks ass, and then the huge tits behind that brown shirt. so I just hit google and put in lesbian kiss so I could be one of the cool kids. lol if I have nightmares about that video now I blame you shiz
  15. if this is to my 5 minute comment I really didnt mean anything by it, take all the time you need, Im in no hurry to hear that I lost really.
  16. alright, Im sure 10 is fine, and this isnt to try and push you to get 8, but I just assumed you were only asking about the 6 feet to the box. my run is 7 ft between the 2 and I just ran the 8 there, then figured I was splitting it 3 ways in there so whatever current the 8 was carrying to the box, 10 could carry a 1/3 of it to each sub no problem.
  17. alright, I was guessing you had a D4 cuz it seems alot of mainstream stuff like kicker/kenwood/pioneer/etc. their amps are usually 2 ohm stable. anyways, with the DMM, ive always thought you turn the knob to the first number on the list thats higher than what you think you are going to measure. like on the DC voltage side, measuring my battery, which I assume would be around 11-13, and I have selection choices of 200m/2000m/20/200/1000. Ill choose 20. for AC voltage I got a choice of 200 or 750, so I set it to the 200 since Im only looking for around 35V. so you take whatever power you wanna give the sub, say 1200 watts, multiply it by 1 (ohm load of sub) and take the sqrt of 1200, 34.65V is what youre after. oh and wanksta that i listened to on mine at least, it was dl'ed but the other one i heard im not sure, they probabaly dl'd it also, but I downloaded it with I think 3 albums from the same uploader(torrent) and all the rest sound good, so I have no reason to believe they did something fishy to that recording.
  18. you can get the D3 600.1 refurbished for 140 shipped on ebay.
  19. 1st one closest wins. they must be choosing in some weird way that nobodies thought of though because if they were choosing that simply. it would take 5 minutes to announce the winner. (unless this is also posted on other forums elsewhere) *BTW Im not trying to be a dick and tell them to hurry up, their giving something for free so they can do it however they want, but it is getting a little suspenseful
  20. Xcon is alot heavier than 27 pounds I know, I only meant the increments between sizes, like the 18 weighs 50, and 3" less diameter of basket/cone/etc dropped 3 lbs and the 15 weighs 47, then 2 more inches less diameter of basket/cone/etc dropped another 2 pounds for the 12 to weigh 45. and the icon dropped 3 pounds going from a 15 to a 12. so I just figured shaving 5 pounds from the weight of the 18 could be close, 32 lbs is what I saw written about the 18" Q somewhere on here, and guessed 27.
  21. the one youre concerned with for this, is a "V~" for AC voltage, it might be labeled different but it should be like that. just check the directions for testing AC voltage. and then the equation is the square root of the watts you want to push into the ohm load. so Im guessing you have a D4 wired to 2 ohms. now say you want to give it 1000 watts. 2 ohms times 1000 watts is 2000, sqrt of that is 44.72. so set all your bast boosts to zero and any eqs flat, sub out all the way up on the HU, remote bass knob if any all the way up, HU volume around 3/4 and then play a 50Hz test tone and turn the gain til the DMM (measuring the speaker out at the amp) reads 44.72 and then theres 1000 watts into 2 ohms. edit* oh yeah, and play 50 cent wanksta and tell me if it also sounds weird. Ive listened to that song on like 6 systems and I never like teh way the bass hits. it always seems like the gain needs to be turned down just for that song.
  22. you always get your post in right as im typing a reply to the last one. pain trying to get an 8 gauge terminal? or pain to fit the wiring where its needed to run?
  23. 6 feet of klear 12 gauge is gonna be 3 bucks while 6' of twisted 8 gauge is gonna be 9 bucks so money really shouldnt have anything to do with the decision, that twisted 8 isnt small though, might not fit where you need to route it. you can cut the main jacket off and have 2 seperate 8 guage jacketed wires though to make it easier.
  24. I knew it was coming out soon, but in reality Im not gonna get it. ive played cod series a couple times, I bought far cry 2 because my internet doesnt always work well with online multiplayer, which would be the only reason id buy a cod. now that i have far cry though I dont need a new shooter. I beat it once on hardcore, went through again to try and get the best accuracy %, again on infamous, etc... and I usually dont buy a game at 59.99 when its gonna be 29.99 or 39.99 3 months later. out of the 20 or so PS3 games I got, only 4 were bought on release, and oddly enough, 2 are still 59.99 I think, and ones over a year old. the other 2 are now 29.99 and probably 19.99. my hobbies would be cars quads bikes R/C PS3 car audio mexico (not really a hobby but whenever I can go I wanna go)
