  1. Shaved roast beef or London broil would be good. Especially if you have a bunch of beef to eat up. I am thinking of ways to use up the freezer full of beef my mom showed up with for me on Easter! I think the brisket is getting smoked first. Yum yum
  2. It is not trivial but can be done. Would require a 5 lead relay to cycle a signal to the CAN, and appropriate resistor on the trigger wire for the correct frequency. The corresponding pins to connect to are posted online. I would start with 100 or 120 ohm resistor and observe its corresponding effects and adjust as necessary. Or just quit being chintzy and spend the 50 bucks. I am sure an hour of your time is worth more than that.
  3. If it was me I would find somebody that had already reverse engineered the interface module and can provide a schematic.
  4. Seems a relay with the appropriate resister in the circuit is needed between the BUS and the CAN to keep the system in logic mode. Otherwise go's dominant and calls for the reset you speak of. CAN nodes listen to the bus, and will only attempt to transmit frames if the bus is idle. As soon as the bus becomes idle, however, multiple nodes may attempt transmission simultaneously. Since dominant (0) wins out over recessive (1) on the CAN bus, an individual node can check to see if its recessive bits are indeed recessive. As long as they are, then it may continue transmitting. If a node detects a dominant (0) bit when it has attempted to send a recessive (1) bit, it stops transmitting, and yields to the other node(s) until idle. Note that that the frame identifier therefore is related to the priority of the frame. Frame identifiers will be chosen such that high priority devices will win arbitration over lower priority ones.
  5. Yikes! If it where time vs money I think I would blow the 50 bucks. Heres a "how to" on extracting the data you are after and how to build your own "gateway" jumper. http://theksmith.com/software/hack-vehicle-bus-cheap-easy-part-1/ http://theksmith.com/software/hack-vehicle-bus-cheap-easy-part-2/
  6. Beautiful work you do sir! Wiring looks clean jellybean. Thanks for posting.
  7. I'm sure he is glad to have dad there.
  8. What were they? Younsayong 34.6 leads me to think it was 315/75R16 which is 34.6x12.4x16.I really hope you are right though. Bias ply Super Swampers. They will sing to you. Dollar for dollar the Bfg's are hard to beat. They wear like iron. I have replaced my last two sets at around 60k. They could of went 20k more if I wanted to be real chintzy.
  9. I like the look, but I also am curious about the service records like Sean is. Additionally the lack of a head on shot makes me wonder if it has frontend damage from a prior accident.J Honestly was just curious what you guys thought of the murdered out look. Had no intentions of buying or even test driving that particular one. (Is 3.5hrs away and way over KBB value) My taste for most things is an "industrial" or "steampunk" look. As far as cars I like "atomic" era body styling. My point is I would not buy a car to boost my ego or impress ppl. Is strictly for fun. Sean nailed on the head though as far as the persona. Hadn't veiwed it that way.
  10. What ever happened to our meme spammer anyways?
  11. I settled for 34x10.5r16's the last time. They were 34.6 or some shit. Kinda stuck if you like the pizza cutter's.
  12. I think black rims are done. 5 years ago perhaps but today, meh.My bigger concern with that car though is that is shows the classic signs of someone who cares more about impressing someone than enjoying a car. The mods are somewhat tasteless and I'd expect that mechanically that car has been treated poorly. The ad reeks of a sloppy owner as well. Doesn't help that pictures were taken in an industrial park. I'd ask for service records first. If they aren't complete and the dude cut corners I would NOT want that car. I appreciate your candid opinion about the look of the car. Is exactly what I needed.
  13. You best bet will be check the manufactures site for accurate dimensions due to the way they convert for aspect ratio numbers. Section width will change based on rim width, so keep that in mind if your concerned about width. I remember you talking about tires less than a year ago. Did you go through that set this quick? No, that's just when I started to realize I needed them. These tires have 63000 on them and would go longer if I was able to rotate them more frequently. (One wore out faster than the other)What size is your ideal? In normal people sizes 35x10.5-11x16 but no one makes that. I always liked this site for comparing truck tyres. http://www.4wheelparts.com/Tires/Jeep-Truck-Tires.aspx?t_c=13&t_s=536&t_pt=101509
  14. I am dialed in on decoding the badging. Without test driving any yet, I am most drawn to the E46 M3. I like the style, has plenty of power right out of the box, and the "M" for the better suspension and brakes. Still have a ton of questions though, as I am learning the options.Anything bad to say about the natural aspiration? The E46 is one of my absolute dream cars that I could own someday. It is right up there with Porsche, but looses by just a hair. Just by the engineers design goals alone I can't see going wrong. Stiffer uni-body than its previous model, super low unsprung weight, beautiful 50/50 weight distribution, great power to weight ratio. Throw in the ability to easily tune and I don't think I could go wrong.
  15. Not terrible. I think it could easily look better with next to no work. Enlighten me please?

  17. Honest opinions about the look of this ride? Not to guido? http://cosprings.craigslist.org/cto/4943229692.html
  18. Sean, If you're still struggling with the onstar, Google "onstar elimination kit". Comes with the two relays and the jumper box.
  19. Get off that little boy, you're hurting him

  21. Interesting, finally got time to watch it. The whole box he has there I want to take out and sell with the Bose system. It is the handsfree as well which I won't use so it has no value to me and is nearly identical in size to my HD radio tuner which I'd like to plop in its place. Honestly I only watched long enough to make sure I wasn't posting a vid with a total d-bag. Logic says the the on-star is an information collector, not a controller like the ECM. Throw the economics considered in engineering in there though and who knows. Hopefully worst case you mimic its purpose with a jumper or relay. Good luck either way mang.
  22. expect the mods to cost more than the car lolYup. This is more of a "5 year plan" project. My real issue is the same thing you suffer from. The initial research. The easiest answer is trade in Helga, make my payment insane and get a 911 on warranty. But that won't satisfy my craving to massage a car into something just for me. You have my vote Matt. Go for the gold baby!!
  23. Either way, I would love to go. Come here in June, 4 day festival at an old, partly ruined, castle. No shit, what is it called? Electric Castle Look it up, it's going to be awesome. Prodigy, The Glitch Mob, Sub Focus, Netsky and many more. There are some pretty sickly bands in the festivals going on this year. I am hoping to catch Twister Sister if possible, and quite a few others.
  24. Time for a Gear Vender OD unit or the likes!
