only 2 door speakers on 4 channel?
There is the possibility of a bum channel on the amp. If it where me I would be trying them to both sets of channels on the amp, without bridging. So try ch 1-2 and then switch them to ch 3-4 and see if you hear a difference. Also try both RCA patch cables and make sure one of them isn't the culprit. That's about the best tests you can do with what you have. That and continue to learn how to tune til YOU understand what your doing. I haven't looked a whole lot at comps lately. The last two sets I bought where Alpine type-r's and Polk mm6.5's. Didn't care so much for the Polks, could get more for the money. On the other hand the Alpine's sounded great, but were the last model so can't vouch for the new one's. I would say go jam on what they have at the local store. If you you find something you like great. If not You will have a more subjective point of view for us to help from.

only 2 door speakers on 4 channel?
The manual calls for the splitters in bridged mode so you should be correct there. I am leaning towards either you have 2 of the rca's crossed at the splitter or a faulty rca cord. that or a bad amp? Where did you get the amp?

only 2 door speakers on 4 channel?
Why are you running the RCA spliters? That looks like the problem right there. Everything else looks good.

only 2 door speakers on 4 channel?
since it already sounded good before the amp then the install of everything else should be capable of reproducing the same sound. If not better. Recheck all your wire connections to the amp to assure nothing is shorting or touching and is connected to the correct spot. Next I would try a different set of RCA cables. Where did you get the amp? Do you have another amp you could try?

only 2 door speakers on 4 channel?
The passive xover that came with the speakers only filters the top of the mid and bottom of the tweeter. The xover on the amp is filtering the bottom of the mid only. Iirc you started off with the lp/hp shut off, does it sound like before the amp install with that setting off? Did you have the cups behind the mid installed before the amp? You say the sound is worse after the amp. Do the speakers sound any louder or better with the amp excluding the bass portion?

It's been awhile, I'm back! Few questions
Troll your local CL, might get lucky.

only 2 door speakers on 4 channel?
Adjust the xover down to 63hz and see if it helps the sound.

only 2 door speakers on 4 channel?
What sounded better? elaborate please. the overall sound was more balanced, the output level, less distortion, cleaner/crisper highs, more bass, less bass????? My opinion of "sounded better" could be completely different as thats very subjective. So what sounded better about the one setup to you? Then we can hone in on reproducing that for you. I too would love to see a pic and know what other filters are in use.

only 2 door speakers on 4 channel?
HP is high pass filter. The Frequency setting is where the HPF lets anything higher than that freq pass through. Without the HP turned on you are sending a full signal to the speakers, and forcing the speaker to play lower than it is intended. You could set the HPF to 63hz and would gain back some bass, but at the expense of output. Vise versa you can set to 100hz and gain output, but at the expense of midbass. Ideally you would hope the sub covered up to 80-100hz with a LPF, and then you can afford to cross the mid/tweet higher for more output.
