  1. You will want to turn the amp xover off or to full, since the siginal is effectively already narrowed down with the decks xover. As far as the RF amp go's, I would say right around a hundred give or take its condition. The funny thing is I am looking at buying that same amp on ebay right now, thats how I know.
  2. Wow thats the smallest signed in list I think I have ever scene on the SSA. Only 34 members signed in.
  3. I measured the door to be around 2-2.5 cu ft. , and I guess the pod to be around .5 cu ft.. second I am willing to cross the midbass as low as 200hz, so this puts the Daber or similar back on the table. I calculated the self induced roll off of the Peerless at around 300 and the Aura doesn't give a Le value. Third I calculated the Qtc of the three drivers that are mentioned in this log to make sure I am understanding this right. On the Aura I came up with a Qtc of .45 in 2.5 cu ft. Vb and a Qtc of .7 in a .6 cu ft. Vb. On the Daber I came up with a Qtc of .4 in 2.5 cu ft. Vb and a Qtc of .7 in a .5 cu ft. Vb. The Peerless I came up with a Qtc of .61 in a 2.5 cu ft. Vb and a Qtc of .7 in a 1.75 cu ft. Vb. So IF i understand this than I think the Peerless is going to do best with the enclosure alignment I have now? BUT IF i make a sealed pod in the .5 cu ft to .6 cu ft range than the Aura or Daber are going to shine? Am I correct?
  4. Encore, Encore!!! I love the LEGOs in there too!!
  5. SWEET!!! Looks like you ALMOST got that box finished!!!
  6. Sorry to take so long to get back, but I've been SUPER BUSY. I HAlf agree with a$$hole in that the snappy sound is up higher, BUT i disagree with the punchy. I know these are subjective words, but to me I would describe 63 as kicky, 80 as punchy, and 80 to 200-250 as the warm, thick part of the music. I agree with a$$hole in that the midbass and upper frequency ranges need to be in time with each other to create the preception that the cracks and snaps are coming from the same place as the kicks and punches. I disagree with onebadmonte (sorry brother), but I DON"T think midbass is localizable up and down. I will quote Impious on this one: "We localize midbass in the lateral plane only (i.e. left to right). We don't localize it on a vertical plane (high and low), and we don't localize it "front to back". " "Midbass is localized by way of what's known as Interaural Time Difference (ITD). That is, the brain localizes midbass laterally due a difference in the time arrival of the sound wave between the left ear and right ear. ITD dominates our localization ques in the frequency bandwidth where the wavelengths of the soundwave are longer than the distance between our two ears. Generally the more ITD you can generate, the wider the potential imaging." Where did you get the volume for your test box? Why ported?
  7. I WISH I could go off stated income. In my trade I make ALMOST as much through tips as I do wages, Due to my clients tipping me based on what I charge an hour and NOT the percent that I take home. IF I want to claim EVERY dime and pay the taxes on the tips I would show ALOT more, but the trade off is having to pay a ton in tax or just save the tip money. I tryed two years ago to just show my monthly bank deposits, BUT that was right when the fit hit the shan. I payed a pretty penny this year in taxes and will do the same in the spring, then I should be in the right borrowing bracket for where I am trying to buy. I HOPE.
  8. Your situation makes it tough. Wife work? Yes, she works for my mother at her restaraunt.
  9. My goal at the present moument is to HOPEFULLY buy a house next spring. I tryed REALLY, REALLY hard the last two years but it just didn't happen. I am a first time buyer and work for myself SO its been a learning experience.
  10. Ok, thanks for the warning. Can't wait to see whatcha got new!!
  11. Fuck that. What happens when you die the day you retire? What happens if you travel too much and get to be 65 with no retirement fund? Hope the Democrats are still in office, duh. On a more serious note, I believe in investing in my future. I work for myself and have a savings account. Got any suggestions for investment? Cause buying a house is starting to seem like a joke.
  12. IF tuning low, make sure its a few hz above the SSF of the amp. THIS WILL only matter if the amp has a SSF that is not adjustable. example i.e. IF the SSF is pre set at 30hz, you will want to tune a few hz higher.
  13. Thanks to my damn truck, I missed out on shooting some AKs and an M16 yesterday. Stupid truck.
  14. I hear you on the testing and reviewing. I am running a bunch of numbers at the minute to pick a new 10" midbass based on the volume of my door.
  15. So many builds to read, SO little time!!! Looks CLEAN Brother!!!
  16. I'm tuned in. Glad to hear you like the FR88's, I will probably give them a try soon.
  17. Third cup. Monday for me.
  18. Lookin' clean, Jellybean!!
  19. Already on my second cup.
  20. I wish i could recall where I read reviews. I might try CA.com or DIYMA. I have read 3 reviews all claiming breakup nodes from somewhere between 2 and 2.5K. I am not surprised, really, as this should be expected with aluminum cones, no matter how hearty they are constructed. Were I to make a single change on this driver, it would have been a pulp cone. cvame918, while I am not impious I will provide a little insight. The first thing to consider is the Anarchy is an 8 ohm driver, so be sure you have the ability to power it correctly. The ZR is more of a dedicated midbass driver, where the Anarchy will be very happy into the midrange. In looking at the usable frequency response of the ZR (50-500Hz) it will be very safe to assume it has a fairly high inductance, although I have not found a published LE specification. The higher inductance limits it's frequency response as well as it's speed. While they will both get nice and low, with authority, I expect the Anarchy to be punchier and more responsive down low as well. It will be more transparent, where the ZR will be more of a silky smooth driver. The Anarchy's XBL2s BL linearity will be an improvement over the overhung design of the ZR as well, making it more accurate. Aside from the power issues, based on the loads of the 2 drivers, the Anarchy will best the ZR in every aspect from an objective point of view... Subjectively, however, it is difficult to render an opinion, as most people don't like sub bass, and midbass drivers that lack distortion. Please broaden your veiws on the statement in red.
  21. The pupose of a crossover is to narrow the frequency range that a driver is playing. With that being said, what you want to do with the fronts is narrow off the lower frequencys that the sub is now playing. IF you can get the sub to play up to 80hz then you should be good crossing the fronts to play the frequencys from there up. AS far as the Slope setting, this controls how many decibels the signal will have dropped by the next octave. SO the steeper the slope, the less you will hear past your crossover point. Heres a gragh to show you what the slope changes.
  22. Theres no skin on the body as fun to Tattoo as the top of the head!!! Other than it bleeds like crazy.
  23. I will clarify why I think its part societys fault. When I was a child, BOTH my parents owned bussinesses and I was expected to work for what I wanted. This opportunity is becoming harder and harder to present to our children based on the type jobs people work. I was beat for just about everything growing up and it got my parents NO WHERE. I am ONE of the angriest people you will ever met because of my upbringing, and now must HURT people everyday to feel better about myself. THIS my Friend is why I LOVE my job, I HURT people ALL DAY LONG BABY!!!!!
  24. Interestingly enough every one I know that currently owns those hates them in the snow. Now perhaps they went too wide so it looked cooler and it wasn't tall so it was floating. Not sure. I had a pair on a truck when I worked for the state(the state didn't spend that money but somehow they were on the fvkkin truck) and in everything else they worked great. In snow, it sucked big. A buddy of mine who plows tried them out too and he was dissapointed. I thought they would be great for snow but for some reason everyone I know has had issues with them and would rather be in a road tire or mild AT tire. Well they were the best snow tire I ever owned. Stock size, 95 F150. Could tear through really deep snow in 2wd Just look at at all those leading edge's and factory siping!!! Not only do the BF's stick like glue, THEY wear like IRON!!! I ran some Toyo Spectrums on my last Honda and they SUCKED more than the Big-O's I have now. I WOULD buy a Michelin, Goodyear or a Cooper tire in a heartbeat.
