Two-way active front stage
The least I could do is hang out and help after scoring the tip for the Aura's, I will definetly give my thoughts on them once I get em' dialed in. The Seas seem like a popular choose, I know if they are good enough for M5's freak ears , they should be good enough for the girls you hang out with. The H100 is being pretty friendly to work with, don't forget you can set the crossover's to "individual" to control each driver independently. I know it doesn't quite have the greatest EQ but with the right drivers, install, and x-over settings you should be pretty good. GOOD LUCK, and keep us posted.

replacing stock speakers all around
Now you see how install and tuning can make OR break any set of speakers. You will definetly want to hear them without a subwoofer playing and one set at a time. You will find out real quick that opinions are VERY SUBJECTIVE to what the person has heard to compare to.

One thing to also concider is you can always sell a set of speakers if you decide they aren't for you. this is sometimes the the only way to hear some speakers in "your" car. I Also agree with M5 as to one set of good speakers in the front will net the best sound stage if thats what you are after. I personally removed my rear speakers a couple months ago and it was the best thing I have ever done for my ears, and believe it or not I never even missed the extra output. The trade off of having "everything" sound correct is better than some rears screaming at you from behind just to get "more output". So you aready have the rears so leave them for now and get some good speakers in front. Once you have everything installed you can turn the rears off for a couple days and decide which sounds better to you. Once again "if" you decide they aren't for you, sell them. I personally ran the type-r comps for a year or so and was always pretty happy with them, BUT every ones tastes are different SO no one can say what will sound best to you. My last thoughts for you are I pesonally could be happy with alot of different speakers BUT each for thier different reasons.

Its not that the mid bass is super muddy per say, But I am still getting familiar with the these beast's. I was refering more to the getting use to them and getting them dialed in to their FULL potental.

I did infact start my tuning just as you stated , highs first then mids. I can get the fostex to play down to 200 w/tall slope but They seem to sound cleaner, more open when I cross them up around 500- 615 with tall slope. I personally seem to prefer a tall slope, at least a 12db slope and usally 18db, I guess its that they are more reconizable in their effects. I ended the night yesterday with some underlap at the crossover points, seemed to help blending also. I will start phase testing once I feel I am famillair with my set sound, problably listen with the same settings for a couple days before testing the phasing. anything else I missed? Well another day has gone by, And I will refect on the days tuning. after my statement about the tall slopes made me think about the other end of that spetrum, SO today I moved the highs up to 1.2k with a 6db slope, and left the mid down at 500 with a 12db slope. So alot of underlap and shallower slopes. the Fostex seemed to sound alot "brighter" and "more detailed" crossed higher with less slope. As far as the Aura's, I am still deciding what makes the mid bass sound muddy, but will get there. I will admit I am pretty happy with the way things are starting to sound SO I know sooner or later I will get everything REALLY dialed in.

Welcome to the IHoP
Hopefully you don't have to teach them everything then. That's one of the many reasons an experienced women is more fun, you don't have to teach them anything!

I would love to see and hear the 2 12" XCONs. I am debating 2 sealed 15" Xcons instead of the BTL 15" ported? I seen the mids you scooped up in the F/S section. Slowly but surely you will get there and learn alot along the way.

Figured I post a picture of said speakers because I already had it in my gallery. and a picture of thier new home-to-be. They will be mounted in the center console like the ones in there now plus they are marine rated so they should last a little longer in the open top vehicle.

I had my Momo's 6x9's in the rear deck and they sounded amazing, it was just to bad I had to turn them down SO much to brend them in. The only reason I bought them to begin with is because I wanted so rear fill and crutchfield had them on sale for dirt cheap, like 75% off when I was ordering my HU. They sounded SO natural and balanced. I will be installing them in the front of my blazer now as fronts with no rears and some 10"s probably. The beauty of the 6x9 is it has the cone area of an 8".
