  1. Lately I've been pretty frustrated with my sub stage in my vehicle. I am not any kind of box designer but I can and have built my own from others blueprints. I've always helped my friend with systems in his 08 Grand Prix. I have installed a lot of my enclosures in his vehicle with good results. Then I put the same boxes in my vehicle and get something totally different. Every vehicle is different I understand this. We both have trunk cars. Mine is an 11' Malibu. He clearly has a slightly bigger trunk than I do. What I'm looking for is a better low end. The boxes I've used have all been tuned around 30-32ish. What do I need to take into consideration to build a box to excel in my vehicle? What bothers me is how much I've spent vs what he has spent. His electrical is bone stock, 4ga wire and an audiopipe1500. Nothing more. I've got bigger wire, nice hu, 2nd battery, better amp I suppose (saz1500). Same set of sa12s in the same box I use in his vehicle sound 10x better than mine. I just put a single Fi Q 12 in his yesterday and hands down without even adjusting anything hits so much lower than my 2 12's or even better than the same Fi q in the same box in my vehicle. I've tried pointing the box forward but immediately noticed a loss in lower frequencies. What am I missing here? As far as a box design how do I incorporate this smaller vehicle into the equation?
  2. So you think I would benefit from installing this?
  3. I bought a DC Power 250xp alt over a year ago for my 2011 Malibu. Been sitting in the garage ever since. I've found out my vehicle is PCM controlled. Is there going to be any kind of upgrade installing this thing? Did I waste $650 by not doing my homework? My system isn't anything huge but I have a 2nd battery in the back that doesn't seem to be keeping voltage up. As far as amps a sundown 1500 and a fosgate t400.4. I tried listing the alt for sale but no bites. Basically should I even bother installing this thing? DC quoted $130 to recase this. Maybe recase for my 03 Tahoe (if its not PCM controlled?)
  4. Is your vehicle PCM controlled?
  5. I was waiting on payday. Wanted to get one of these bad. Oh well glad you got rid of your gear!
  6. I've heard nothing but good about that place. Always wanted to check it out but never seem to have the time
  7. I now know for sure what my problem is. Re reading my own thread pointed me in the right direction. Voltage! Rear battery showed 9.80 Vdc. Put the charger on it and tested the radio and the problem was gone. Now I know what low voltage can do. I tested front battery with car off and saw about 12.6 ish ( just drove for almost an hour). I think the battery is just on its way out. Had it ~4 yrs and never charged it really. Guess a battery is cheaper than a new 80prs lol
  8. This issue is back. It's strange. Sub amp and bass amp both are affected. As I was driving home from work (45 mins) I was messing with it. Totally feels like a voltage problem. The weak signal plays at lower volume.. Sounds like ass but as I turn it up it almost turns into a solid hiss sound. Vocals in the music disappear as volume increases. I know last time around I found the rear battery that both amps run from was down to 10.x volts.. I threw it on the charger for maybe 20 mins and reinstalled different subs and moved all the amps. Lasted till yesterday.. Almost 2 months. I'm gonna head outside soon and check my battery again. Could that be my problem? I'm really hoping its not the deck. I believe warranty is gone since I held onto the HU for about a year before using it. I want to rule out everything else before the deck.
  9. We live in stockton, I work in sac.. You have a shop around here?
  10. Doubt he's close to us. No clamp meter just a DMM. Think ill check his battery voltage at different times. Try a different amp. Check the connections. Hope something shows its face so this stupid problem is out of the way.
  11. Can we get a sneak peak at its performance?
  12. Usually home by 5 or so. Not sure what I got goin on tomorrow. Call me up tomorrow sometime. We can swap your amp and ill look it over.
  13. It's a small us amps 2 ch. think Merlin with the plexi bottom. Vehicle has big 3 done. 1/0 ran to the back where it's put into a power block where it's brought back down to 8 awg wire for the amp. Only amp in the vehicle. Bring it over one day when I'm off work, I got a few amps we can put in its place to test this.
  14. One of the guys helping you here (Rick) built the one I got in the Malibu. I built all the ones for the s10.
  15. It's gonna depend on your box man. I swear the single sa12 sounded the best. Big bad Treo ssx sounded like shit in the box I used. 15" q wasn't impressive either but I know it was the boxes I used. If I still had the truck I would do 2 12" gcons. I can help you with the box when your ready. A 15" icon would be sweet I'm sure. Never used an actual ssa sub but I want to hella bad. Let these guys throw out some ideas
  16. I found some pics of a few different boxes I had in there Can't find any of the sa12
  17. Yup. Glad your here. These guys know there shit. Only place I go when I have questions. I had 1 15" Fi Q in that truck and it was cramped. With the seat all the way back you lose a lot of room.
  18. If this is my cousin 2 15's won't fit bro lol.
  19. Nice! Thanks for the response. Never ran anything IA before but I sure would like to.
  20. 9600 @ 1 ohm. Sounds intense. Will any of these features be incorporated into the smaller amps?
  21. That's a great idea. Will that be a pre order only option?
  22. Can you further explain the payment plan option? How does it work? Is interest added? Great idea and I'm sure people will use it.
