  1. I'm gonna defend CCA. I've used it in 4 builds so far and no trouble. For someone on a budget and not going extreme I recommend it. Now I do own OFC and plan to run that later on a more serious build. OFC is for sure better. But I can't seem to believe cca is useless.
  2. 37 width 15 height. Unsure if depth right now
  3. I don't have them right now. I can't seem to find the thread where Rick built it. It's 4cuft and I think the tuning was 32hz.
  4. x2, if you don't want to change equipment I would try a new box. Most trunks do well with a side firing port and subs either rear or forward firing for daily. This should be the cheapest fix with buying new gear.I'm not against different equipment. I would like to keep the box but at this point I'm not stuck on that either. I have some other stuff in the garage.. I'm assuming as far as equipment changing your talking about subs and enclosure not amps. I have a 12" Treo SSX 2000rms d2, a 12" Fi Q d2. I have a few different single 12 boxes with different volumes and port/sub orientation. Maybe a smaller box allowing more air to pass thru the trunk will be better?
  5. Yup. In his car we had an audiopipe ap1500 powering them on stock electric. Now I put my saz1500 to them. Extra battery. Voltage seems to be good. Definitely sounded better rear firing. Ill try blankets to seal it off but seems like ill be turning them back around soon
  6. Sure is. Sounded real good in my buddy's car but not quite as deep in this one
  7. Welp... Sounds worse. I lost some of my low end firing subs and port forward. Pretty mad about it lol. Not sure wtf to try next. Forward sounds like ass to me. I was adjusting shit all day and it never got any better than I had it. I didn't seal it off but I can't imagine it helping with too much more than trunk rattle? I could be wrong. Here's some pictures. Nothing's really secured down at this point. Wires in a mess. What do I try next? Maybe I'm expecting too much from these little sa12s. I can't really assume the box isn't as I was told. Before I put these 12s in here I had them in a 08 Pontiac Grand Prix and it was belting out lows. Lesser of an amp and electrical it just had a bigger trunk. Subs/port back. What next?
  8. Highly doubt that but wont hurt to throw the DMM on it later.
  9. Thanks so far guys. I'm going to work with it tomorrow. Probably turn them around. Take some pics for a better visual. Jon, I would guesstimate the subs/port is maybe 12" from the back if the trunk. Handman, it could very well be this 80prs too. Damn thing has so much to adjust, ill be messing with that tomorrow also.
  10. If I do decide to seal it off and fire forward will the back seats need to put down?
  11. There is rules in place to sale here. Check them out first.
  12. I've recently installed my sub stage in my 2011 Malibu. 2 sa12's on a saz1500. Box is about 4 cubes tuned low 30's. I'm not blown away by the sound. It's clean and punchy but I'm not getting the blurred vision/nose itching bass I'm looking for. My head unit settings could probably be set a little different but my main concern is the sub orientation. Currently I have subs/port facing rear of vehicle. Everything's bolted down which is why I haven't tried turning it just yet. With the box in the vehicle, back seats folded down and looking in.. Box squeezes in perfect top to bottom. Touches bottom and top. Sides I have maybe 6 inch slots on each side opened up to the rest of the trunk. Could this be my problem? If I fire them forward and don't seal off the trunk will it give me more of what I'm looking for? And if I face them forward and decide to seal it off will I have to fold my seats down every time I want to crank on it? Just looking for advice or people's experiences with trunk installs. I know people say to put em forward and seal it off but I'm not sure I want to go thru the trouble or not. I plan to tear into it tomorrow and play with the hu settings and amp settings.
  13. Write that on a piece of paper, put it next to the sub and take a picture. Post that here
  14. Looks like pioneer offers a Bluetooth update for the 80prs. Needs to be from a windows laptop though. Instructions seemed easy ill just have to borrow the laptop, only iPads and desktop pcs here. Not sure if the update will bring forward the pandora but it did say something about iPhone 5 and that's what I use. Will do it soon and post results.
  15. Owners manual appears to come on a CD. Welllll that shit broke lol. Was able to find it online. Auto EQ was figured out. Actually made it sound better to my ears. Now I need to figure out this pandora thing. I read somewhere the firmware may need to be updated, I'm wondering if that was on the cd or how that process works.. Hmmm
  16. This head unit helps me realize how many different things can be adjusted and how it all matters if you care about your sound. The fine tweaking is insane. I really like this head unit.
  17. Just seems the videos I watch of this hu there is features that I'm not able to access. everything shown there is kinda different. It's like standard mode is just way dummied down. The visual curves shown in that video are not accessible. Can't figure out how this auto EQ thing works either. I have the mic and plugged it in but when I select it it tells me something weird like "please set auto EQ" it's disabled somehow and the only thing I can think of is that damn network switch lol. Also this things advertised as having pandora. Can't find that anywhere either. I can BT my iPhone to the head unit and play pandora thru my phone but nothing on the hu side. Much to learn. Gonna go grab the manual and re read some stuff.
  18. Thanks guys. I've got some work to do with this thing now that its installed. Put the subs in and they sound like shit. Just gonna take time and a lot of tweaking. Good equip and box I'm just gonna have to set everything right. Thanks again
  19. I just got my pioneer 80prs installed in my Malibu yesterday. Love it! I see pioneer put up a few YouTube vids of how to operate. Basically there is a switch on the unit itself for a standard mode or network mode. Network seems to open a lot of features up according to reviews. I am NOT running active, but would love more features to tinker with. Anyone have any specific knowledge of these 2 modes? I don't want to remove the deck to change the switch if its not needed for my setup. Any info needed please ask
  20. Good questions OP. this info should be posted if available. Nothing wrong with knowing as much as possible about a brand you like.
  21. I got no advice except keep doin what your doin. If that's all you spent screw anyone who has anything negative to say. Sounded crazy to me when I first read it too but still interesting. This "hobby/obsession" has kept me out of a lot of trouble also.
  22. What's your budget?
  23. Check the wiring. Note how you have it wired exactly and post that info here. It's a safe place to start
