I got my BBQ Guru controller in the other day, haven't had a chance to hook it up and cook anything yet though. Don't know what I want to cook for the virgin run.

A set of LT steel headers for that car can't be much more than what, 150$? I haven't looked at header prices in ~8 years, but last time I looked regular steel ones were cheap. If they are cheap, wrap 'em and be done, if they rot out in 5 years and you still have the car, throw another set on. Or get 'em powdercoated then wrap them. I've got some header powder coat I use for ovens here that is supposed to be good to 1000*F

Last time I went in, asked what insurance would pay for, went to frames less than 100$ and asked the lady what looked best on me, find some that looked fine, ordered them and walked out in less than 15min.

I wouldn't exactly call the work into dropping a wrecked engine/tranny into an older car 'buying' something, but to each their own.

I don't think I'd screw around with something like an older 305 or 350, just opt for dropping a LT1/LS1 or 5.3L out of a wrecked car or truck.
