It seems like if a plan is drawn out in sketchup, it instantly becomes amazing.

Welcome to the IHoP
So what is everyones boner over sketchup for? I don't see what everyones affection with that program is. The number of plans that I've seen that are actually good plans drawn in sketchup is slim and none, sure it gives you a excellent idea as to what it'll look like, but a well drawn set of 2-d plans will do the exact same thing.

<-- knows nothing of wood lathe's What sort of bit do you use? I have a 6" metal lathe and have thought about turning some legs for a project or two...maybe I should just buy some aluminum stock http://www.rockler.com/product.cfm?page=68...r=lathe%20tools Just not that expensive, a lot cheaper off of e-bay.

If you would make a box that goes over the outfeed part of the planer, that has room for a board to pass through with carpet that will scrap the chips off the board, you wouldn't have near the mess. *not sure if I explained that right or not...*

Ok, so my front baffle is oak ply with 1" wide oak trim on it (so when I do the roundover on it, you don't see plywood edge). Now what I did was I messed up in a spot when I glued the trim on and I had it to low and wasen't paying attention and sanded the veneer of the plywood. Now the baffle is basically fudgeed. I see a couple options here, -cut off the trim and redo it on a new baffle (involves cutting into a new sheet of ply too) -leave it (not going to happen) -say fudge it and paint the entire thing black -finish what I was doing, get some red oak veneer, veneer the top and then do the roundover on it so it will look like solid oak front baffle. I'm leaning towards getting some veneer.

Dents, yes, scratches, not so much. If 320 on a random orbital didn't do it, I'm not sure you can really get them out then. Speaking of going through the front veneer, thats what I did on my f'ing baffle. I didn't when I was using my random orbital, but when I switched to hand sanding using a block I went through. I am le pissed.

Welcome to the IHoP
I'm tempted to just paint the front baffle as well and say screw oak. Then do a walnut piece around the speaker thats been turned on a lathe to give it just a little bit more jazz.

Welcome to the IHoP
The front baffle on my speakers is pissing me off something fierce.
