We've logged close to 500k miles in two Astros with the most expensive part besides tires and suspension being a 170$ EGR that died on it. That 4.3L is pretty hard to beat from what I've seen.

Diesel depends on where you are at, and also, your actual driving time is signifcantly different in the winter. Starting and running for 20min every time it is cold changes things.
