  1. This setup just plain murders the low end, sometimes it is just a pain in the ass cause everying rattles around. It sounds very "real" and sounds just plain good to me atleast, I'm realllllly pleased for building these things for under 500 bucks, just insane. *I think its under 500 bucks, never formally added it all up* As far as I know, there aren't many audio nuts around here, and the ones that I know I'm trying to get them over here to give me their opinion on them. Everyones opinion so far is that they are awsome, but other than these the best thing they have heard is a Bose radio. Very good topend also, just all aroudn quality sound, does movies very well too. They are a hair under 3 cubes, double braces per tower, 1" polyfill along the interior, 40hz tune, and dip down stupidly low, just crazy for no sub.
  2. The SLA-1 does 100x2 and 200 bridged, it appears to be a very well built amp, quiet and I like it. IIRC, the EP2500 is a clone of the QSC. The room is a constantly changing beast right now so a mess is kinda unavoidable right at this moment. The next thing I'm getting for this setup is an EQ though.
  3. Fire away with the constructive critism
  4. Thats 4cond 11ga wire, PE screwed up my order... CD Player and an Xbox
  5. These are crappy quick snapshots of them in their current state. Pay no mind to the state of the dorm room, were still rearranging it and changing crap up.
  6. PIcs on the way!
  7. The normal version has some serious low end. I just showed off the system to someone again...
  8. Thanks for trying, I couldn't send email earlier so I have no fricking clue. I just found it though, encoded at 128kbps. I forget the low end of it, impressive listening on headphones, roommate is watching TV so I'm not cranking the system earlier.
  9. Alan Jackson is a living legend.
  10. benteman at ksu.edu please, would be greatly appreciated..
  11. Damn song won't download for me...
  12. Cool
  13. Congrats on the promotion M5, but does this mean you won't be commin down to KSU?
  14. Off to class...
  15. Classes start today, first one in 20minutes. Started a new job today, Civil Engineering Labs, I got to empy the trash while I was there for an hour, thats all I did. Talked with my boss for a little while then a fella came in wanting something made so they talked about that.
  16. A futon in a dorm room is a must...
  17. Oh and I'm watching SWAT right now, and it does really fricking good on movies even without a substage. I'm througly impressed with this design for under 500 bucks for the pair of them (keep in mind I didn't have to buy crossover components for the towers, I'm running active crossed over at ~2khz).
  18. Ground loop? I don't want to go back to school tomorrow I'm not sure wtf it is, it could be a ground loop, but in the cable from the xbox to my XLR to RCA cables?? It dosen't show up in my computer hooking up to it, or the cd player hooked up to it so I'm clueless when it comes to this. Could always start plugging things into cheater plugs, if the noise goes away you know it's a loop. Other than that, don't really know what could cause it...I had a nasty hum with the Decware CSP pre, but I found out my power amp was hypersensitive to AC filament hum, ended up selling the pre Whats a cheater plug?? I'm stupid here on this aspect. But Hooking the xbox straight up to the preamp dosen't work, and hooking the xbox up to the tv and then the TV to the pre dosen't work either. Nasty humming either way, but through a computer or CD player works.
  20. Got the towers working, somehow the switch on the back of the crossover that switchs between 3way and 2way got pushed to 3way no idea how though. Got the xbox hooke up but when I hook the audio RCA cables into the system get a loud ass humming noise, any ideas why? Can't imagine where the interference would be comming from.
  21. My towers are starting to agravate me...
  22. Everyone thinks I'm crazy already for having what I do have in a dorm.
  23. But my tower dip down low enough for me, and with authority too, just ned the inaudible stuff down deep so I think I'm gonna pick up a bass shaker or two for movies only. I'm getting away without a substage for music just fine.
  24. I am not building an entire false floor in a dorm, even to me thats overkill
  25. I moved all my gear and got my the damn wiring mixed up somehow so the towers are screwey, now I have to go fix the damn thing again.
