Welcome to the IHoP
I was born around Detroit, moved down here to Kansas when I was 7 when grandpa retired from farming and dad stopped working at a machine shop that worked alot with high perf engines (they made a 1000hp engine in the early 90's for olds) and took up farming as the full time occupation.

Not really missin a whole lot ramos. When it rains you don't do much besides listen to the rain and smile. Its either not much to do or a chit ton to do, and only 5hrs to get it done. Its hot, dusty, dirty, and hard work.

LOL @ the state motto In our town (~500 people) there is a sign that says "Ya'll come back now Ya hear" as your leaving town. As if pepole need reassurance that they are with a bunch of rednecks in a small town...

Another good thing about being home, I can take my truck outa commission and not have to worry about it. There are plenty of other vehicles to drive around if I need to go somewhere.

Welcome to the IHoP
Theres the farmers that have some tools and can't really fix anything much, and then theres people like us who don't take any vehicle to a shop to get it fixed, we have the tools and knowhow to fix everything right ourselves. Dad's an engineer and the other fella who works with us use to be a John Deere mechanic. Plus, its expensive as hell to get stuff fixed at the dealership. Plus, being in the boonies dosen't help either. Last planting season, we had to split our planter in half and have dad weld it up, got that taken apart and back together in two days. Have had final drives go out on the combine and the tire basically fall off (the big front ones, not the back ones )Just so much stuff to break, kinda have to have the tools and knowledge to fix it. Just comes with the job I guess.
