  1. Dayton Classic. I had thought about that but wasn't sure. I still don't know quite a whole lot about what I'm doing and don't want to fry a bunch of equipment trying to learn.
  2. The problem is that all the amps I'm finding within my budget do either too much or too little power for the subs I'm looking at using. Edit: I'm looking at Audiopipe amps.
  3. I'm looking at possibly running three 4 ohm subs, which would give me a 1.34 ohm load (of course, you all know this already ). How much power would I lose if using an amp that does its power at 1 ohm?
  4. I have nothing but respect for EMS personnel. I was an EMT for about 5 years and it's not for everyone, that's for sure. Saw a lot of crap that I'd just rather forget about.
  5. Check out Parts Express for some cheap 8's. I'm actually looking at the Daytons and Tang Bands right now for my summer project (might go with 10's though). www.partsexpress.com

    I'd love some 8" Dcons.
  7. LOL. I've been reading a lot of good things about the Tang Band, and that's the one that I'm leaning towards.
  8. I need to order me some and a hat (so I don't burn my head) for vacation.
  9. I've actually been thinking about using the Titanic in my vehicle this summer. As for the home sub, I want to just swap out the Kenwood sub, using the same enclosure it's in now.
  10. I've got a Kenwood HTIB (the 504, I think) that I've had for a number of years. It does the job, but I'd like to play around with it and replace the sub. The only info I can find on it is that it's an 8" sub, has a nominal impedance of 4 ohms and the amp does 100 watts at 4 ohms. Does anyone have any idea of what sub might work as a drop in replacement? Or, should I just take a shot in the dark and try something out? I've been looking on Parts Express.
  11. ^^This. There a couple of guys that live just down the street and have very loud motorcycles. Every time they take off from the stop sign in front of our house, the windows in the living room sound like they are going to fall out of the wall. It's extremely annoying.
  12. I'll be watching this too. Looks almost exactly like what I need to do.
  13. 280 watts is plenty of power for a Dcon.
  14. Yep, it's secure. I had to shut it down the other day and forgot the password when I started it back up. Luckily, I got it right on the first guess.
  15. Damn! Hope you get better soon.
  16. That's signature worthy. I also have something else that should keep me motivated. I was born with a heart condition and it's a given that I'm going to need a valve replacement in the future some time. Being in shape would help me recover faster. Thanks for all the advice. I'm going to get back at it today.
  17. I completely forgot about this thread. Thanks for the tips everyone. I forgot to mention that both computers run on a wireless router. Not sure if that helps anything or not?
  18. This is what I'm thinking. It seems like the most logical way to go right now. Thanks for all your help.
  19. Dooo eeet! Very nice review. I absolutely love my 10" Dcon. I wish I had the room for a second one. If I had the funds I'd buy a separate vehicle and fill it with them.
  20. As the title states, I was just wondering how you all stay motivated when it comes to working out? I enjoy exercising, but it just seems like life gets in the way too often and I can't keep my motivation up and stick with a routine. As of now I haven't done a workout for probably two months. Don't get me wrong, I don't just sit around on my ass all day. I have a very physically demanding job, and I'm the one that does the majority of the housework (because I'm anal about how it's done ). I've had back problems for the last 11 or 12 years and gave up on weights several years ago, as I kept hurting myself. I turned to kettlebells and bodyweight, and a neurologist that I saw for my back told me to do Pilates. My main problem, I believe, is that I tend to overthink the routines I'm doing. I'm NOT a morning person and have never been able to get into an early morning workout, and by the time afternoon or evening rolls around I'm busy doing other things or exercising has completely slipped my mind. Anyway, enough of my rambling pitty party. Any suggestions for staying motivated, getting into and sticking with a routine, etc? My wife, daughter and I are planning on going to the ocean at the end of June (the first time for all three of us) and I want to be in shape for it.
  21. I've wondered this as well.
  22. Yeah, that's why I'm kind of hesitant to go sealed. I've always run sealed in the past (and had no idea how important the right enclosure was ) and always had what I thought was pretty good output, but I think my Dcon has spoiled me. I love the Dcon, but the box just takes up way too much space. I still might try it sealed but have a feeling I'm going to be disappointed. My initial budget is $150 for subs, but I may be able to bump it up to around $200. I'm not going to be doing anything until this summer, so I've got a little time to save. Budget for the amp is probably the same ($150-$200). Space wise I'd like to definitely stay under 1.5 cubes total, but probably more around 1-1.25 total. If I figured correctly, the box for my Dcon is around 1.94 cubes before all displacements. Not sure about power level yet. I was waiting to decide on what subs to get. Is that the wrong way of going about it?
