  1. I run an Onkyo 5.1 HTiB. Best sounding 5.1 HTiB i have heard to date. I do run towers with it though for extra bass. 2 12" drivers on each tower.
  2. Damn this looks crazy. This is something i would want to do with my own house for sure.
  3. I'm buying this pre amp for my microphone: ART Pro Channel Microphone Preamp and Compressor It has an XLR input for the mic, and XLR output, and an 1/4 input and output. My question is, what would be the best way to go from the pre amp into my sound card to record ? I have your typical line input on the sound card, 1/8 size. 1/4 to 1/8, or XLR to 1/8 ?

About a month ago I was in Sandusky, Ohio and saw a ford explorer with a giant Fi Sticker on the side window. I was like oh holy shit someone else with Fi subs
  5. Can't remember if you guys did black friday deals last year or not..... If so, I'm curious if you guys will again this year. I was wanting to pick up another SSD 18, and if there's a sale it would be a perfect time for me to get one.
  6. Beats suck, bose suck. Sennheiser makes the best headphones.
  7. Really it's dependent on the box itself. How well the box is made, etc. I'm sure if your box is built to spec, the recommended for the subs, it will sound a lot better. Also, why the high-ish tune ? Maybe go with 32/33hz tune instead ? You will most likely have better output with that tune.
  8. Ha. I was messing with my headunit wires the other day with my car on (forgot it was on ), and my 12v made contact with some other wire on the harness, and my whole car shut off and made a loud thump. Scared the shit outta me and I thought i blew my headunit. Luckily i didn't, or any fuses actually. But yea you probably have a short somewhere. Seems like the only obvious reason.
  9. If you have a decent 5.1 receiver, just use the sub input on your receiver and run some wire to your sub. I did that with my Fi SSD 18 for almost a year, and it worked fantastic. It probably gave it about 120watts, which is plenty enough to get it loud. The sub practically destroyed my house. There is no need for an amp when you run these subs in a HT setup. Mine was in the same box its in inside of my car now though, so it was mainly for music. Movies sometimes were just horribly loud bass wise (and play a little too deep also). How different it will sound compared to a car..... that's all dependent on the rooms acoustics. Mine sounded pretty similar in output and overall SQ. But once i put it in a car, its noticeably louder, and plays certain notes better than when in my room. tl;dr, no need for an amp, use the receivers power. ALSO My friend used to run two amps inside his room. He had 1 small lawn mower battery, hooked up to a battery charger, a big one on wheels they use in car shops. It was plenty to just leave it on while playing music, no matter the volume, and the battery would never die. He ran 2 15s, 2 12s, and 2 10s all at once in his room. It was decently loud for the shitty brands of subs he had. My one SSD is louder though But, its not really the safest thing to do. We tried a bigger battery once so we didn't have to charge it as often, and battery acid leaked onto his floor. Like i said, not too safe. You run this risk of shit blowing up and catching your house on fire, along with the fact that you won't be able to ground the amps (at least we couldn't).
  10. Tried the pico fuse fix by soldering the connection. Didn't fix the buzzing I also re routed my RCAs before that, which did nothing either.

Lowest is 25hz then 30, 35, 40. Pretty low. Won't be playing that on my 32hz tune.
  12. That sounds like a good idea. I'll have to buy more 4 gauge though, I'm out.
  13. Well i just wouldn't know where to hook them to then. Guess i would have to get some washers and more self tapping screws. I kinda just bolted them down, and they definitely aren't moving. There's ring terminals to the battery obviously..... but that's it.

How low does the in the air song go ? It sounds pretty low on my surround.
  15. Ok, I took pictures of all my grounds so someone could maybe point out a bad ground(s) (this is my first install). Grounds coming off battery: First ground: Second ground: First amps ground: Second amps ground & head unit ground (no metal behind head unit to ground to):
  16. I redid every single ground in my car. Sanded paint off of the chasis, and screwed down the grounds with a piece of metal over them. Re ran the ground from my head unit to the back where the grounds from my amps are. Sanded paint on the engine bay for the grounds running from the battery. It made the buzzing a LOT quieter, but I can still hear it. And I don't know why.
  17. On my old Iphone 3g my old Alpine deck would sometimes start to buzz, i just got a longer USB cord and put it further away from my HU and that solved the problem. Well, its not USB, it plugs ino the back of the headunit. Whatever the connection is, i don't know. Oh you have a proprietary end of the plug, i see. Yep. And this buzzing is going to drive me insane. I can't really hear it when musics playing, but still.

  19. Nope its through an iPod cable that come with the deck. I can try airplane mode though and see if it makes a difference.
  20. Hifonics HFi100.2
  21. Today i hooked an amp up to my front stage. Sounds great, except for the buzzing i can hear when music is paused. My amp for the front stage is grounded the same way my amp for my sub is, and yet i still get buzzing. It's kind of a high pitched buzzing, with really high pitched sounds mixed in that kind of fluctuate. It only buzzes when there's a source though. Once i plug my iphone into the head unit, the buzzing starts. And using the touch screen on the iphone, such as scrolling, makes a sound. I can hear it whenever i scroll with the screen. My head unit can't be the problem. I used to have a low rumble with my sub (like this buzzing) and i fixed the ground on my head unit and it went away. I have only one set of RCAs out from my headunit, so one set goes from one amp to the other. Maybe thats creating the noise ?
  22. Embarrassed ? Not me. I'm in my own little world.
  23. I don't see how having a full on bumping system is violating anyone's first amendment rights. What is said in the lyrics might be protected, but not the booming bass that goes along with it. Also, who can hear the lyrics when all there is is boom? People can get mad as much as they like, as ///M5 said, you choose to turn it up, be prepared to pay for it. You made the choice, now man up and accept the consequences. Plain and simple. wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee I think your misunderstanding. The law that says you can't have loud sounds be heard xx ft away violates YOUR first amendment right.
  24. Eh just a Hifonics HFi100.2 someone linked to above. I was in my budget and I'm sure it will do fine for the front stage.
