  1. Definately go with Knu or welding cable. DB Link 1/0 is also very thick and doesn't cost that much. My father is an industrial mechanic and got me some 2/0 industrial power wire they use on the big machines and shit. Not very flexible (had to run it under the car) but works great for me.
  2. Thank you sir. I don't know about the new Mofo 2X series but these old school ones kick ass for a cheaper brand sub. Absolutely LOVE them! Hands down best set of compnents you will find at this price point. Very crisp and clear even crossed over as low as 60Hz. Really like the tweets, they are slightly bright but can be compensated by placing them on the -3 db setting. They are loud and clear without that "tiss" sound you usually get at high volumes. I'd be willing to bet money these babys would hold their own against components that cost twice as much. I garuntee if you give them a chance you won't regret it. Thanks for the comments.
  3. Original is what we were lookin for. Just posted some vids of my new install, nothin close to what you got goin on, but I'm proud of it. You should check it out and tell me what you think. Thanks.
  4. Just completed my new budget build (well all my builds are budget builds, lol) including 1 set of Crescendo CCX65's in the front doors off an AP3002 for 160 rms per door, 1 set of Wally World Sony Xplod 3-way 6x9's off the KDC-X493 head unit, and a Power Acoustik V1 MOFO-12D2 in a 2.8^3 @ 36Hz birch box built by Robin "iamamp3pimp" off an AP15001D. Very impressed by the CCX65's and the MOFO gets down for 1 12, especialy a Power Acoustik! And I always love my Audiopipe amps. Enjoy.
  5. Lookin great man. Very original and creative. Really diggin the led's in the spider's eyes. Keep up the great work. You got one lucky boy.
  6. Not sure if galacticmonkey is on this forum, but I know he has alot of experience with the 4th orders and he does designs for people. Just something to think about. BTW, that 18" NS is sexy as hell!
  7. Some people don't mind paying a little more for better quality stuff. I pay very good money for my gear, because I expect it to perform at a very high rate, for a long time. I don't mind spending more money on my amps than you have in your whole system. In fact, the majority of my gear, in individual pieces, cost more then your whole system. The only thing by itself that didn't is my sub amp, which happens to be a Cadence ZRS amp. When you stop and think about it, that says a lot. I have $600 in subs, $900 in front stage amp, $1000 in front components, and a $150 Cadence sub amp. Did you catch that? If someone spends that kind of money in an SQ system and buys a $150 sub amp, that speaks volumes about the quality of that amp. Perhaps it isn't worth it to you, but to me it really is. I have exactly what I want, it sounds amazing, looks great, delivers a clean, pure sound, and it is extremely dependable. Perhaps people just want nicer things. Just because you can't afford it, doesn't mean that others can't, and it doesn't mean they shouldn't. Cheap isn't better... in fact, it is usually a sign of cost cutting measures... or a possible concern over long term dependability. Also, not a single amp listed will break the budget at all. Everybody's suggestions fell right within, or just a shade over the OP's set budget. Nobody is recommending anything based on a name, the above suggested amplifiers are all really solid performers at great prices. There is no stigma associated with any brand listed, they are all small company units. Nobody is recommending JL because of their big name status, they are recommending amplifiers they use, or have seen in use, that offer rated or better, very reliable, and dependable power. No offense, but I would never put an Audiopipe amp in my car. I have never seen any testing done on the amplifier at all, and as far as reliability, it hasn't been out long enough to prove that it is reliable and dependable, and frankly it is pretty dirty power. Besides, your sig says the gear is coming soon... so I have to ask, are you basing your suggestion on first hand knowledge, or just blindly suggesting gear? Finally, your opinion on the matter is not the only one that counts. In fact, seeing as how you recommend the same amp all the time, it is important that the OP realize this and consider the suggestion accordingly. This is a forum with varying opinions, and experiences. There is no "/thread" like you suggest. And as far as the dickhead comment; You might need to grow up a little. It is about that time. If you are old enough to have your driver's license, you should really act like it. Very well said. I apologize for my hasty remarks. I personally use only Audiopipe amps in my car. Quality, reliability, and a warranty all at a great price is what I have found from my experience. I have 3 kids, a mortgage, and a college tuition all on a single income family. So I have spent a couple years going thru the lower priced brands trying to find a balance between cost and quality. I have used Power Acoustik and Audiopipe mostly. In my opinion, Audiopipe amps and subs are the epitome of that balance. While Power Acoustik subs take a close second, but their amps are pretty much garbage. Please forgive my immaturity in this matter. In the future I will take into account that not everyone is on such a tight budget as I.
  8. Fuck it, if yall wanna spend as much money on an amp as I spent on my whole system go right ahead. That's your choice. But don't talk shit when I offer someone a low cost alternative just cause it doesn't say Sundown, AQ, DD, or Cadence on the front of it. To each their own I suppose. And with that I wash my hands of this nonsense. Good day. Oh yeah, btw dickhead
  9. You are aware that there are other amplifiers out there, right? You need to expend your horizons a bit. To the OP, I like the Cadence ZRS amp. I have been using their amps for a decade now, and they always do better than rated and are exceptionally reliable... I still run a ~ 10 year old Z7000HC (1500@1 class AB) on my Brahma in my hot rod. The ZRS amps are very solid amps, and I am actually using a ZRS6000D on my subs in my daily driver right now. It puts out rated, and then some, has a nice small footprint and doesn't even get warm. The output is quite clean too. I am aware there are other amps out there, thank you Mr. Obvious. Point is, I know for a fact that the AP series amps from Audiopipe are solid and reliable at a great price. The OP asked for suggestions on amps that would be in his price range and work with the Xcon which is rated at 1750 rms, hence I suggested the AP18001D. Being cheap (~$190 shipped), proven to do rated power, and proven to be reliable I concluded this was an acceptable solution to his dilemma. You are aware there are other things to do on the net besides troll and be a dick, right? You need to expand your horizons a bit.

  11. Mine are on their way. $99.99 shipped FTMFW!
  12. I went to a local car audio shop looking for 12 gauge speaker wire and was asked why when 16 gauge was good enough for any sub . When I told him I was running a 15 on 2K he said well thats alot of power, you better use 8 gauge . Then proceded to have his flunkie go out in the install bay and return with 2 ~8 foot runs of 8 gauge, one + and one - that had just been removed from a customer's car (you could see the bends from it being ran and it was corroded green on the ends. He tried to sell it to me for $2 a foot . I politely refused and have not been back since. Oh yeah, lol. The first thing he said to me when I told him what equipment I had was "Your first mistake was not buying from me!" Lulz. It was a Kicker/JL Audio/Street Wires store.
  13. 2 18" Wardens and Two Mmats. Doing port on driver side soon and adding more power. Testing has been sketchy at best, the heat has been sabotaging my scores in a big way so yeah..... Looking forward to future pics/vids. The heat has been rediculous here, it's either 95 or so or raining, and it only rains enough to make things humid instead of cool. So, what part of FLorida are you from, lol?
  14. It's absolutely breathtaking!
  15. Why spend ~$400 on a sub just to throw it in a $75 box? For ~$200 or less I'm sure there is someone on this forum that will build you a box for that beast. I used to use pre-fab Obcon/RT Boxes, they are probably the best pre-fab box you can buy and after getting iamamp3pimp to build my first custom box I will NEVER go back to pre-fab. A systems performance is 90% install and install is 90% box. You can take a Sony Xplod and put it in a well built 4th order and make it sound great. Just my $.02.
  16. INSANITY at its FINEST!
  17. LOL I drive a toyota... how does Fi=AA? are they owned by the same company? Yes, Scott bought out AA.
  18. Hey, I'm that arseho that runs twice the rated rms to a sub just to see if it will hold. I'll tell you what, my AA Chaos 15 took my AP15001D daily like a $2 hooker on pay day. That sub is only rated for 800 watts rms. The trick is to feed the sub clean power and know your system's signs of stress/ when to back off on the vol knob. AA, Fi FTMFW!
  19. If your lookin to spend $1000 on a 1500 watt amp, why not just sell your sub and buy one that wires down to 1 ohm. Then grab an AP15001D for $160 and put the other $800 in the bank. I'm sorry, I just can't see myself spending $1K on an amp for a L7 . Good luck with whatever you choose. BTW, I could put a WHOLE system in my car for that 1K you plan on spending on that amp. Just sayin.
  20. I would think they would run D2 subs and wire each sub up to 4 ohms, each pair of subs down to 2 ohms, and run 4 subs per amp for a final 1 ohm load on each amp. Really diggin the 4th order. Great craftmanship. Very exciting build! I hope this makes it down to Florida (The LOUDEST State ) sometime so I can get a demo. Can't wait for some vids.

Great choice. You won't be dissapointed. I ran the AA Chaos 15D2 (cousin to the SSD) off my AP15001D @ 1 ohm daily and it's rated at 800rms. I loved that setup. Definately well built subwoofers. I'm steppin up to a fully loaded BL off the AP15001D for my next install. 2.8^3 tuned to 35Hz, hoping for a 145 out of the trunk. Gotta post pics when it arrives. GLWB.
  22. Yea me too, lol. The 4th order should be pretty sick when it goes down. iamamp3pimp will be building it naturally, dude is the only guy I trust to build my boxes. Thanks for your help.
  23. This is pretty much how I feel, just wanted to bounce the idea off someone else to make sure I wasn't completely off base. This box will be a temporary build anyways, my goal is to have a 4th order for the BL built into the trunk and ported thru my rear dash. So, I guess it's a win win situation. If I don't like the way the 2.8 box sounds it will just motivate me to get my 4th order built faster. Thanks bro.
  24. Thanks for your input Alton. From Fi's BL Tech Page: 2.8 is the smallest recomended enclosure. I think with 500 xtra watts rms it shouldn't make that much of a difference correct? Wouldn't the smaller airspace help control the cone? BL15: Displacement: 0.21cuft Chaos15: Driver Displacement 0.17 CF .04 difference shouldn't be a problem right?
