Ported or sealed? If you have enough airspace to properly port the 2 SSD 12's, I'd say go for them. Even though they are an entry level sub they still have alot to offer. You're going to get more output with 2 12's and you have more coils to share the power so less heat and wear on your subs and amp. Also, you aren't maxing out your sub. I have used the AA Chaos (cousin to the SSD) and loved it. Clean low bass and plenty of output. I was actually running my Chaos 15D2 on my AP15001D daily with no problems. That's almost double power, but it's clean that's the key. Just my $.02.
  2. Anyone have experience using this sub in an enclosure like this?
  3. Thanks for the quick response Mark. I don't have the space for an Xcon and the Icon can't handle the power, hmmm. Think I will go with an Fi BL15D2. But yall where my first choice.
  4. So , your saying the new Icon will take the 1500 watts daily and work in the 2.8^3 @ 35Hz and it only costs $20 more than the listed price of the current model?
  5. Looks good for 1 10 bro. Those old school RE SX where the shit! I wish I could get my hands on a 15D2 for my next build.
  6. Awsome project. I was on the other side of the coin, my father built a 23' Ford T-Bucket from the ground up, welded the frame together and all. I was to busy partying and recouping to give him a hand. I regret it everyday now. I look forward to giving my son my Protege when he is 16 and doing a build with him. On a lighter note, you guys anywhere near Tampa, I would love to see this in person? Keep up the great work.
  7. Robin (iamamp3pimp) was in the process of building me a 2.8^3 @ 35Hz box for my AA Chaos 15D2 when I had to sell the sub due to financial issues. My question is would a Fi BL15D2 run off my AP15001D work in this enclosure? Sub would have cooling, flatwind, and daily options. Looking to get decent lows and numbers out of this box, though sound is more important than numbers to me. Had the CHaos 15 in a similar box before with good results, just bumped up tuning on this new box from 30 to 35Hz trying to get a little better score than the 143.7 at 40Hz I got with the first box. Here is a pic of the first box, new box will be designed the same but built out of raw birch. Thanks for any input.
  8. Coming along nicely bro. I officially volunteer to be this beasts first victim. Seriously, I live in Seffner right by Tommy's shop, hit me up when this is done I want a demo for shure. Robin's 2 21's in the Neon where BRUTAL, I can't even imagine what 4 will do.
  9. So, by say income tax time next year will this version be available?
  10. Was having a box built by iamamp3pimp for my AA Chaos 15D2 to run off my AP15001D, but had some cash flow issues and had to sell the sub. Box is halfway built. Will be 2.8^3 tuned to 35Hz with a kerf port. It is a copy of the design that was used for my last Chaos 15" with the tunning bumped up from 30 to 35Hz. Here is a pick of the first box, only difference is port tunning and the new box will be raw birch that will be stained Cherrywood in the future. You guys think the Icon will be good in this box off 1500 rms? On a side note, Mark, would it cost xtra to get the full Xcon dustcover ike LoudGeo has on his Icons in the Punisher?
  11. Audiopipe AP series, best budget amp around! I own an AP15001D and couldn't be more satisfied. Don't know what your thinkin for subs, but their Eye Candy line of subwoofers is pretty decent as well. There are 2 people around here that are using the TXXAP15's and doin 145+. Checkout vminnovations.com for Audiopipe gear, they are an authorized dealer. Good luck.
  12. Awsome bro. I hope to be able to build like that one day, then I can stop paying iamamp3pimp to build all my boxes, lol. Keep up the good work, can't wait for vids.
  13. Nice diagram btw. Totaly helped me understand what you where talking about. So much easier to help someone when they provide the correct info to work with.
  14. The way you have it is fine. Actually I'm pretty sure it's better that way instead of just gounding the battery in the trunk cause then you are relying on the chassi of the car to return the current to the front batt. Your way is using the wire wich is a much more solid avenue for it to travel.
  15. Components will almost always sound better than coaxials in the front or rear but in my opinion you don't need rear speakers so the 6x8's off the headunit should be fine. What is going to make a difference in your doors is deadener. You should deaden the backside of the outer skin of the door as well as the outside of the inner skin where the speaker will be mounted, This makes all the difference in the world. I would suggest these: Crescendo Audio :: Component Speaker Systems :: CCX65 and use the other $100 dollars for some real good sound deadenner. Second Skin is the shit! The SPL tiles are awsome. Hope this helps.
  16. That is something that will be install specific. Everything from type of subs, how much rms you have, what type of enclosure you use, to what type of vehicle you have will play a factor in the sound and loudness of the system. There are a few rules of thumb such as subs up port back is generally the loudest setup for an SUV and facing a subs and port forward with the seat down and sealing the trunk off will be louder in a car than a regurlar box in trunk. The only way to find out is to do it and see if it works then post your results here so we can all share the knowledge. 10ths of DBZ are gained this way everyday. Hope this helps.
  17. That guy is my HERO! Very nice craftmanship on the box and awsome choice of subs. x2 on the vids, can't wait.
  18. I would shoot iamamp3pimp a PM with this question. He has a good knowledge of these subs.
  19. Lookin good bro. FLA FTMFW!

  21. I ran my 15" off my AP15001D at 1 ohm daily. They can take a shitload of power, just have to keep a watchful eye on the sub for stress and heat. Make sure you are feeding it a clean signal, no clipping.
  22. No pics, I have some vids of my install here: New 12" Leathal Injections Doin Work! - SSA Car Audio Forum
  23. Found this again today. This is one of the vids that got me excited when I was waitin for my Leathals to arrive. Nice setup bro. That shit is slammin for 1 12!
  24. Got a 143.4 sealed up on the dash at 40Hz before I ripped the box out and sent it back to iamamp3pimp for carpet and port paint. Subs are still pretty damn stiff. But that's almost a whole db just from 2 more days of break in. I hopin for atleast a 145 at full break in.
  25. Yeah, I'm sure thats what it is, I was beatin the piss out them yesterday, lol. I can't help it, they sound so amazing.
