BM series subwoofers...
It depends on how much Fibutron we actually put into the subwoofer and your proximitiy to the subwoofer.

Official SI Demo Car Build Thread!
Use IE damnit. Or someone offer to host these things. I'm almost done. I have one more beauty pannel to make and the beauty pannels are finished. The enclosure still needs a lot of sanding and filling and then painting, but that will come later.

BM series subwoofers...
PS: We thought about using Fibutron* in these BM's but we decided not too. If we had used it, however, it would have brought the destruction of every other speaker known to man. Xmax would have been eleventybillion, Fs 1 Hz, Mms 1 gram, and it might have had the ability to cure cancer...although we're not sure about the last one yet. Just ask Jake and Hollis about the magnitude of Fibutron.* *Fibutron is an SI developed and engineered product. Any un-licensed use without the written consent of SI will result in legal ramifications.

Beauty pannels made, not carpeted. I'm going out to carpet them right now once I figure out how I'm going to route the wires.- BM series subwoofers...
Oh yeah. The parameters listed here are for the 12" prototype only. T/S's will change slightly for the final version. (the sample was also a dual 2 Ohm, not a dual 4 Ohm) Fs: 30 Re: 4 Ohm Qm: 3.2 Qe: .40 Qt: .36 BL: 13 Vas: 118 liters And that's all I'm releasing at this time.- Quick question
- System test songs/cds
Trittico (Telarc label) - any track with the orchestral bass drums. This will show you whether or not your midbass and/or subwoofers can handle realistic hits. Diana Krall - self-explanatory. Female vocalist whos voice can melt bricks. Shows off the midrange nicely. Chic Corea - "Eye of the Beholder" titled CD. One of THE BEST analog stereo recording I have ever heard. It's right up next to... Pat Metheny - "Imaginary Day" titled CD. This was recorded digitally but it is damned good for everything - dynamics, imaging, bass clarity, etc. Telarc's demo CD with Jurassic Lunch. If your subwoofers cannot reproduce the stomp at 13/14 seconds then you need new subwoofers.- Alteraudio demo car coming along nicely
Looks like it's coming along nicely. What vehicle is this in again?- What to do? (Substage)
My two 12's never move more than 1" even at full tilt. It's loud as FACK in there and the subs are barely moving. Hatches are wonderful.- SI stickers...color?
I'm still trying to track down a few drivers for Jason and then we'll iron out the details on colors.- BM series subwoofers...
I suppose they can be released for the 12" now. I'll post them up later on today or tomorrow.- Knocking sound
Well you've got to think about it - your amplifier will only send back back out what it is given. If you feed it a clipped signal, it will send out a clipped signal. My Alpine 9813 started clipping at/near 31 (I believe its max was 40) where as my Eclipse has yet to clip even at full tilt. To be super sure you can grab an o-scope to see where your HU starts clipping at.- Knocking sound
^What Tirefryr said. My Alpine 9813 would clip like it was its job at/near 3/4 max volume where as my 8v Eclipse has yet to clip even at full tilt.- Knocking sound
Bottoming out or clipping, one of the two.- Mag D2 15"
Ordering online is on our web site (AKA: our dealer's web site). With 3.5 after the displacement of the driver not counting the port I would go sealed. Unlike some old folklore about sealed boxes, our Mag's do VERY well sealed.- Mag D2 15"
3.5 tuned to 34 would be better. You won't gain anything except a rise near tuning going with a larger enclosure - it's basically wasted space.- BM proto listening impressions
OOooooohhhhhhhh, gotcha. (and yes, I obviously missed the point). But the proto isn't being sent out anyway. Too many cosmetic changes are going to happen and I'm not going to have pictures of it as it sits on the net b/c people will think that is how they are going to look when they won't actually look that way. Know what I mean?- BM proto listening impressions
They will be dual 4's. Sealed enclosure volume will be small on the 10's. No #'s yet though.- BM proto listening impressions
If the consumer isn't happy, then the consumer can buy another speaker. So far, no complaints so we're going to keep doing things the way we've been doing them. That, and we are also the consumer. We build products that we would happy to own, not just because we feel like it.- BM proto listening impressions
At this point the name will remain the same and we are not disclosing anymore build house information (hopefully none has leaked out as it is, but in case it has, no more info will be released). ...mainly because it doesn't matter. As long as we are happy with the build, that's all there is to it.- BM proto listening impressions
What do you mean?- BM proto listening impressions
Eh...pictures would have just been of the back of a box in my teggy. I won't disclose frontal pictures of this proto yet because a few things are being changed for the final version.- BM proto listening impressions
So Jake and I rigged my sis's ~1.4 ft^3 enclosure and Hifonics Z600 amp up in my car with the BM 12" in it tonight. The amp was something totally different, the sub was positioned different, the box was different, etc - so NOTHING was the same as what I'm used to. That, and my Eclipse's voltage output shocked the piss out of her Z600 - I had to turn the gain down ALL THE WAY and then turn the output down on my HU also. Haha. Anyway, once I got it somewhat dialed in Jake and I began really listening to it. The phantom of the opera song on the Telarc demo CD was the first track we listened to and it really showed how deep that little sucker can get. It dove down just as deep as our big boys can. Next we put in Tocatta in B which is pretty much our staple of subwoofer testing. The little BM surprised us, showing little to no signs of fatigue even after we had it turned up for the entire song pushing the amp to its limits (it started distorting). We never got the sub to talk back to us even on the Trittico blasts that typically ruin subwoofers. The Z600 couldn't get the BM to smack the backplate in the sealed enclosure we had it in before the amp began distorting, so that was VERY promising. All-in-all, the BM showed Jake and I that it is worthy of getting the SI logo plastered on its pretty little face! - Official SI Demo Car Build Thread!
