TB 8" subwoofer (W8-740C), TB 4" coaxes up front (W4-937S) with Peerless 6.5" 4 Ohm "car" midbass's (850518's). That'll be a really inexpensive system that will sound great. 8" woofer = $32.50 ea. Peerless 6.5's = $40 ea. 4.5" coax's = $35 ea. A good 5-channel amp with flexible crossovers and a good HU should round out the package really well.

We tried using JL's "high-excursion grille", but it wasn't high-excursion enough. The surround ended up rubbing on the grille and making smudge marks on the foam. We haven't found a grille yet, but we've got our eyes open.

Jacob Fuller (Sundownz on the forums) likes them better than his JL XR 6.5" set, and Michael Schmidt (mschmidt10k on here) emailed me telling me how much he liked them compared to his previous Focal set. You could PM him on this board and ask him about them if you would like. He has actually purchased two sets of 307's from us.

You can post those certain pics we talked about Hoss - the straight-on shots of the 8" and the far-away shot of the tweets. And yes, due to some of the drivers not being produced anymore the 502's are going to be any custom component set. Drivers, crossover point(s), slopes, choice of crossover components, etc, will all be custom. 6.5's will probably find their way into the SI lineup, but not until we have everything down perfect.

The 307's are not out-of stock. We actually have a pair that was "returned" (*un-used*) because the customer actually bought a pair too many. They're sitting out there already boxed up and ready to go. I have been out of town all this week, so that's why I haven't gotten back to you. The other email addresses have had trouble logging in...which we'll have to get fixed ASAP. As of now I'm the only one who can access my email. :eek:

Yes, very well done...especially the port! Most people just wrap the port around the inside walls of the enclosure. Just wait 'til you get a real amp on it and then give us your thoughts.

Yeah, the $25 a gallon seems more resonable. That's around what they charge here in NC. Fleece it first, then lay the glass and it should turn out great. The kick pannels in the silver Camaro on my web page were done that way and they are flat-out awesome.

Check your local auto parts stores for fiberglass resin. Either them, or try Walmart. As far as the fiberglass itself...that's usually really tough to find at a low cost.

Just use the numbers that I gave you and you'll be fine. Due to limitations placed on the enclosure because of his vehicle (making it to that specific size in order to get the enclosure in his trunk), you'll have to tune it to ~33 Hz with the two 4" round ports. Like I also said, each Magnum needs two 4" ports, but there's simply not enough room to port them in an enclosure that small. Either run them sealed, or vent them to the specifics I gave you over the phone.

Cool! Be sure to take pics of the fiberglass work that you do. BTW: My recommendations on those amps are the SS and MTX amplifiers.

You can increase the size of your port if you really feel like it's neccessary. If you want me to reconfigure the enclosure for a larger port you will probably increase your tuning because the port is going to displace more volume, which in turn will raise your tuning frequency. The port that I figured out for you, however, will be fine for daily use. ...unless this is going to be a competition enclosure.

All measurements assuming 3/4" building material with a targeted 2 net cubic feet tuned to 30 Hz: 35 W x 15.5 T x ? D - O.D. 33.5 x 14 x ? D - I.D. Vent = 2 x 14" tall x 36.25" long (1" for end correction added) = 1015 => 0.58 cubes of port displacement. Driver displacement = 0.10 cubes. Total displacement is 0.68 cubic feet with driver and port displacement. Using reverse math to find out the depth of the enclosure - 4631 / 33.5 = 138.24, 138.24 / 14 = 9.87" Internal depth of the enclosure needs to be 10." So, internally you end up with 33.5 x 14 x 10, which equals 4690 cu. in. Divide that by 1728 to get cu. ft. and the result is 2.71 cubic feet*. * The "left over volume" will be taken up with wood used to build the slot port. Now just add the neccessary amount for the 3/4" building material and you end up with an enclosure that measures 35" W x 15.5" T x 11.5" D externally and 33.5" W x 14" T x 10" D internally with a port that runs vertically on the edge of your enclosure using the internal height that measures 2" W x 14" T x 36.25" L (you will have to 'wrap' it around the inside of your enclosure). I hope this helps.

Are those O.D. or I.D. dimensions? If they're O.D., what thickness of wood are you going to be using? Also, what's the depth on the enclosure? Post up I.D.'s on your enclosure and we'll get to work on tuning and such.

Well the enclosure specifics need to be determined by you. Measure the area that you're working with, take into consideration the thickness of the enclosure material you are going to be using, and post internal dimensions on here. Also, are you going to be using round ports or a slot port? What limitations on a slot port do you have? BTW: Unless you totally seal off the trunk from the cab, the subwoofer system would sound best if it were fired towards the rear of the vehicle. But if you posess the constitution to go as far as deadening, sealing, and strengthening the trunk so there will be minimal interaction, then by all means go for it.

We might some interesting things out before too much longer. Just keep checking the SI site and this forum. I'll definately let the forum know of any additions.
