Finally came over from the dark side......
Hey man, glad to see you on the forum! (PS: your stickers are going out on Saturday) Definitely let the forum know how the enclosure works out with the Mag 15. Mag 15's are fantastic drivers, and when put in the correct enclosures can make for a wicked combination.

Love story Mag reunited with me :)
FYI: The original packaging eliminated the scratches on the back plate. We used to put information in the packages telling customers to keep the original foam since it was custom-cut for that exact woofer, but no one held on to it for some odd reason.

Nope. Re-chroming the back plate won't solve the scuffs and chips, it will only polish the chips up. And even then, the back plate and pole piece would have to be seperate from the rest of the motor...which would cost more in the long run than just buying another Mag.

Vids of my BMs.
Cool! That's some good movement from those puppies! *Disclaimer* I am in no way, shape, or form, making any reference to the BM's being in relation to the Funky Pup when I said "puppies", as Funky Pups are the end-all, be-all, of subwoofers.

Nah, it looks like those scratches are there to stay. You can only buff out slight scratches but those look DEEP. Congrats on getting the sub back though! Man that MX is DEEP!!

1 12" SI Mag vs 3 12" RF Hx2's
I know your mind is made up, but a single BM is formidable driver when ported. You should be able to find a Mag used though without much trouble. A single Mag ported is wicked though.

1 12" SI Mag vs 3 12" RF Hx2's
+1 to what denim said. If you want to run multiple subs, we're clearing out our current BM 12's right now for $170 shipped each. Two BM's ported will be absolutely killer in any vehicle. Or you could go with a single Mag ported. You'll have to find a used one for now though, as we're still working on new Mags.

U.K. dB drag Finals O7
Great scores! Sorry to hear the meter didn't read as well on grass - I never would have thought that make a big difference....well, every little thing makes a difference. I know a guy who put a piece of aluminum tape over a headliner hole and gained 0.5 dB. Weird.

1 12" mag vs 2 12" pioneers ts w3000spl
Depends on the vehicle and tuning, but a Mag can whip on some drivers that are "technically" superior to it in SPL, but I'll leave the SPL comparison up to others on here. As far as SQ goes, Mag.

Some SPL Tetsing results for you
Thanks for posting the results Marcos! The little BM's aren't so little on the meter are they?

Blind BM 12" testing
Yep, we sent our 12" BM prototype to JimJ without ever listening to it. A lot of people would say that's a pretty stupid thing to do. But we have enough confidence in the new BM line from auditioning the 10" model that we jumped out on a limb and send him the driver. Jim has a prototype with a few things fixed vs. the 10" model - mainly the surround color - but not everything is finalized on this prototype. The only big thing left to do is to treat the dust cap for a different finish. But besides the latter, the driver Jim has will perform just like the production drivers will. Jim sent me an email yesterday letting me know he got the driver and will be testing it this weekend with Chad Hicks. So between Chad and Jim, both sizes of BM prototypes are going to be put through the wringer this weekend!

New BM prototype information
It stands for something like that. After you hear them you'll know which one it stands for. And yes, the BM's are going to be dual 4 Ohm only. They were designed for use with lower powered amplifiers (basically for a single driver to not be mated up with 1 Ohm stable 1000+ watt amp) and/or two be used in pairs...hence the dual 4 Ohm configuration (two BM's can be used off the 1k watt amps like I just mentioned).

Nick is awesome
When I heard there was an Audio Engineering Society at his school and they were going to make a decahedron subwoofer using our drivers I couldn't help myself. The drivers might be going out today, so Richard should see them early this upcoming week. Richard, email me and let me know how many guys are on your team and what size shirts they wear. I'm just curious.

Chad Hicks reviews the new BM 10
No, that was his full review as of now. Chad is a ported box kind of guy, so his ported review should be a lot bigger.

Chad Hicks reviews the new BM 10
He will get all the bottom end he wants once he ports that sucker. That...and he's talking about sub 30's from our little guy in .7 cubes. Jake and I got good output from it down to the mid'ish 20's but our box was twice the size as Chad's.

Chad Hicks reviews the new BM 10
I listened to this baby a little bit this weekend, power from a sundown 1500d with gains set conservatively. It was in a .7 cube sealed box. My music ranged from the lighthearted banjo strings of folk music, the hardcore double bass drums of linkin park and disturbed. I also through in some lil jon to test the low end extension. Notes: With the folk music the sub stage blended nicely with the banjo strings in the front stage. It sounded very nice on this music. It very accurately reproduced anything it was asked to. With the rock music i listened to, my favorite for daily listening personally, the bm suprised me with its output on this music. It was not muddled at all unlike many drivers asked to do this. I am considering putting a single 10 in my daily driver to replace the jbl 8 that is in there now. thats how much i liked this driver. With the very light selection of rap music I played in this configuration the driver sounded as good as something can sound on rap, lets be honest 30-40hz sweeps/tones arent a true test of a drivers sound. I did find the driver struggling to produce notes below 35 hz. I believe this is due to the small sealed enclosure. This should easily be remedied with a ported alignment. My personal listening tastes prefer an exagerated low end which would explain my thoughts on this portion of the test. I'm sure that the average sq guru would have been appeased with the sound here. SPL test and Ported box testing shall happen this week.

New Mag proto pics
We don't know the actual displacement yet, as we're still working on designs. Everything will be published once a prototype is settled on and adequate measurements are taken.

Sundown SPL Truck
Man, Jake's truck is stupid-loud. That sucker takes your breath away when it's near that magic frequency. I believe Jake was playing Jeezy (probably not spelled correctly as I don't know popular music) when I looked at him and said "holy shit...that is nuts!"

New BM prototype information
Mounting depth on the 10" is 6" Power handling will be announced soon but keep in mind the idea behind these drivers - no huge amps required as these are efficient little buggers. Price is going to remain the same as our current BM's - $240 and $280 respectively. Hopefully our dealers will agree to a short sale for the first month of their release.

COOL!! Thanks for posting up the videos of those bad boys moving! I need to link to those from our new web page.

1 1/2" between box and wall
For full potential, it will not work. If you only put 300 watts on it, it could work. The cone is inset from the top of the surround though, so that gives you about 1" of surround outward movement for total travel. How much power are you going to have on it and is this enclosure sealed or ported?

Free Mag 15
After much deliberation we have decided to go with "theabunai"s web page. We will be in contact with him about hosting and other things and hopefully have everything switched over in the next few weeks. Thanks to everyone that participated! PS: Everyone that submitted a web page to us, please send an email - we've got a few consulation (sp?) prizes for you.
