Your very right. my wife and i got pulled over for 135 in a 55 the weekend before for racing at the coast and the cop let us go because it was not his area. he followed us all the way home. THAT should have been my wake up call.

amp terminals are wired in paralle. it wont make ant differance

I agree mdf would be better. i do not agree with the adapters being crap. i have never seen one break or "flex" for an everyday application they are just fine.
First thing i would do is take it from the box and inspect it. inspect your wiring also. maybe a lead broke or is breaking. maybe a speaker wire is just bearly touching.
For me having a truck and forced to fit subs under my seat, small is best. I can save up if its too expensive. I can't magically make more space. Ill pay the price!!

Dose the amp go into protect mode? It sound like the amp is sent into clipping and heats up, putting it into protect mode. Once it cools, it works again. More info would be helpfull.
How did you set your gains? Clipping?
Could be you box is leaking. I've heard a leaky box make a slap/clap before.
