Small port, decent TL score (AA SMD)
Oh yeah, it's a 6" inch aeroport. I wanted to try something different. The thing is it sounds REALLY musical. I can't do two 6" ports, I don't have the space. I have a comp on Saturday and plan on doing a SPL box. I'm thinking 3.65^3 @ 40hz w/ 72 inch of port? Should I tune lower? Also did my first two beassrace runs in my life (practice) and got perfect 129.9 on the second run w/ Bone - See You At the Crossroads!

Small port, decent TL score (AA SMD)
One 15" AA SMD of a Stetsom 7k2e. 4^3 tuned ~31 hz w/ 29 sq in of port in a '09 Yaris Sedan. DC Power 320amp alt, big three, all 1/0 wiring, stock battery. I just metered tonightat a local shop and put up a 144.4 w/ peak at ~ 41 hz. My question is "How much would I benefit from more port area? I plan on going from 29 in to 72.5 in thanks

Measuring amplifier output (wattage)
Typicaljawaiian replied to Typicaljawaiian's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / ElectricalHypothetically speaking If my sub is 1.5 at each coil, I wire down to .75 ohm. Now with the sub hooked up I burp 50 hz. I get a DMM reading of 40 volts AC. My voltmeter showed 14.2 for the duration of the burp. Say the imedance went up to 1.3 ohm, what would the equation be? Do I need to get a fancy clamp meter or something?

Measuring amplifier output (wattage)
Is the DMM method a fairly accurate way to measure the watts output of an amplifier? I set the meter on AC volts, connect leads to speaker terminals (w/ subwoofer still hooked up), play a sinewave burp and take that reading to determine how many watts went to the sub. Does that sound correct? I already set the gains w/ an o-scope so I'm not trying to do that. I want to calculate how many watts actually is going to my sub thanks

PSP port questions............help!
Thanks for the help So.......... My 6" aero opens up to 8" at the very end on both sides. That gives me a port area of 50.xx^2 Now I read somewhere that PSP Ports require less port area (not port displacement) than slot ports. Some say close to 50% less port area. That would mean I am close to your recommended 90 - 110 square in?

Cool, thanks! Back to my questions. 1. ? 2. ?

Right, my bad. ~32 - 33 hz

Ok, say I were to do a slot port, how much port area would I need for this application?

PSP port questions............help!
I have a 15" AA SMD that's powered by a Stetsom 7k2e. I will gain down to 3500 - 4000 watts @ 1 ohm. Biggest enclosure I can fit in the trunk is 4.5 - 4.6^3 before displacement. The sub will take up .24 cubes and bracing .2 That leaves me w ~ 4.05^3 before port. I'll be using a 6" PSP Aeroport. A few questions I have are 1. Do you find port area in the straight length pipe, or at the very end (diameter of the mouth opening)? 2. My PSP has a 6" diameter straight pipe that flares out to 8" at the very end (on both sides). Which number do I use to find port area? 3. Do PSP's really require half the recommended port area as a slot or straight round port? If this is any help, these are some specs on the sub Recommended box size: 2-4^3 Xmax: 32mm one way Effective cone area: 810 cm

Most of the time people are like "give as much info as you can". Man, that was a lot of info!

Fi BTL 22? IB22?
90 grand up front and we'll start talking $90,000!!!!! Is that per sub!?!?

AA SMD or DC lvl5 15"
Thanks 4 the replys fellas. Specs for the SMD say anywhere from 2-4 cubes will work. I figure w/ enough power, I should be alright in a 3.5 cube enclosure (after displacements)?

AA SMD or DC lvl5 15"
wouldn't happen to know the DC lvl5 recommended specs for ported enclosure? Anyone know the displacements of the two different subs?
-
AA SMD or DC lvl5 15"
Yeah, I plan on getting in the lanes from time to time. This would be my daily though. If I can't afford the SMD because I still have wire, terminals, batteries, MDF, etc. that I need to buy, what would be next in line?

AA SMD or DC lvl5 15"
After all specs and pricing is weighed, what would be the better route? Amp would be a stetsom 4k2d or saz 3500d. Biggest enclosure I could do is 4.2 cubes before displacements. I will use two 4" x 17" aeroports (double flare). Thanks
