Yeah, I heard the same thing except it said 2". I think the only solution is to do a TL test on a sub that is 4-5" deep behind the sub and then put it in a box with the same cubic feet except it only has 1/4" behind the sub.

Does a box have a certain amount of air space behind it or does it not matter as long as it fits?

Name off some high power subs (anywhere above 1000 watts RMS) with a low Fs (below 30 hz) and preferable a 15"

Sort of what I meant by too deep. Maybe you could just put another piece of 3/4 or 1" MDF where you mount the woofers and just rewrap the box?

You might even do better with just one BTL if you have a budget, but it's not sounding like you want a Q or SSD

Ohh, well I say you go with 1.25 cubes before woofer displacement. I recommend going sealed a little more since it's a low power sub, but that's all up to you.

Sealed boxes are good for like...30 hz and down since there's no need for a subsonic filter
