Does anyone here build custom boxes for members?
Holy crap, I had no idea that it came out that way... I'm sorry dude, I did not mean it like that at all! I kinda meant that it happened that way on accident, but now that I reread that post, I realize I sounded like a total d-bag. Please forgive this grievous error. I'm sure that you do not use your name like that nor have any intention to.

New amp
O.K. I checked the specs awhile back, they said 1113 watts according to testing. I also talked to the sundown guy, jacob, and he said the SAE-1200d is going to be in the low $300s, so I'm still undecided. I have decided on less than $400 for a budget, (shipping and everything included in that). To rephrase my original question, what does Sundown offer that Audioque doesn't? As far as I can tell from the specs all three amps, (Audioque 1200D, Sundown SAZ-1000D and SAE-1200D), seem a lot alike... Are the Sundowns more expensive because they are superior products or because Audioque sells direct from the manufacturer? Is there something else I'm missing here?

What subs to buy
Why are you interested in something so temporary? Are you only going to want bass until next summer, at which time you'll never want any again? I'm not sure why you wouldn't want to get good gear right off the bat...

Good amps for 3 10's RE SRX
x3, and jay-cee, didn't you do something with one of your amps to increase voltage or something? I think you used a thicker ground wire than your power wire... Is that right, cause that could help the OP...

sub box help
Assuming you'll only end up using 2 subs, and going with your original 14x16x30, and subtracting a 1/2" from each measurement for MDF, (assuming you are using 3/4"), then you will wind up with almost 3 cubes BEFORE ANY DISPLACEMENTS. I don't know how much the subs displace but the port could put you out a whole cube if you tune low enough, leaving you with less than a cube per sub even before driver displacement... What if you decide to go with a double layer baffle on the sub side? Now you're really running out of room. I'd rethink your space or your setup... Your planned port opening is a tad big too, I would say. Stick between 12-16in square of port opening area per cuft

what sub is available for this?
Why do you need to have such a tiny enclosure? What/Where is this sub going into/going?

Good amps for 3 10's RE SRX
Welcome dude. A 1k watt amp. Sundown... Is the pre-order sale still going on for the SAE-1200D V.2? That'd be a good deal....

sub box help
Are those really your max dimensions or is that just the space you are willing to give up, cause dang dude, my saturn has more room than that... And just a heads-up on the Type Rs: don't go with the manufacturer's specs for the box at all! They recommend a box that is too small for those subs to really shine, and tuned too high as well.

BL 15 box build
You know... The Fi site says the sub can take a pounding but it ends up given one back... Geez, anything I say now is gonna sound super kinky.

BL 15 box build
It's like if your GF likes it rough and your all like "this is going to be awesome!" but then she ends up beating the crap out of you. That's what it's like. But in a good way.

Does anyone here build custom boxes for members?
Sorry to get off topic OP. Yeah, basically pre-fab sucks. I agree with jay-cee, better to have to wait then have to sound like

It's kinda like that movie where Eddie Murphy has the same name as the retired/dead senator and so he just uses that dude's reputation to get elected...

anyone want to check my math?
Agree with everyone here. That first port was way too small. Did you find out what the driver displacement was?

new guy here...
Welcome, (back), to the party.

BL 15 box build
Ok, here we are This is what I started with; 10" Cerwin-Vega VMAX in 1ish cuft around 36Hz with a too-small port. My new BL!!!! There's that chrome moon in the middle... Kinda a crooked/sketchy-looking idea.

Box design considerations
You don't listen to rap, so you think it is tuned too low? A lot of rap bass is in the 40-50Hz range, because that is where the bass boost works so that silly kids drivin' around with the windows down with their HIGH-TUNED pre-fab boxed subs can destroy things. Not to say that rap doesn't get low... "Put On" by Young Jeezy is apparently 27Hz at lowest... 32 Hz is according to Fi, so I stuck by their recommendations and I love what I got... However, if it peaks there, then I guess go with the curve...

RMS : Fi BL Standard & Fully Loaded
People put 2k rms on these things daily, but it just isn't recommended... Unless your a crazy rubber ducker and are trying to make your head explode. Seriously though, they have high sensitivity ratings and they'll blow a lot of other subs away on 1000 watts. Right now I only have mine on 600 and it still pounds, so if you are worried that the bare bones BL isn't going to have enough strength to handle what you're gonna throw at it then you'd better be competing... Go ahead and get it fully loaded though, I did.

Had it in the car since last thursday and have been trying to get pics up. That's how slow dial-up is.

Box build for Death Penalty 12
Not to throw you off topic with the build, but just out of curiosity... Why the BL over the Death Penalty? I love my BL 15 and I'm only running it on half of rated power, but it's fantastic! I was just wondering though, for a friend of course... Just in case he catches the upgrade bug and decides to get something new...

BL 15 box build
On its way. Unfortunately, dial-up is bogus, so it might not be on 'till tomorrow.

Three 12" Kicker CompVR's in a Chevy Caprice
Good work on the box, but doing it all yourself? Get that guy to but a bit of work into his own system! lol. Great job!

BL 15 box build
Middle of the front baffle... you mean the black spot? I was going to spray the Fi logo on there in some metallic silver so that it went with the chrome on the dustcap, but I couldn't find a decent picture from which to make a stencil, so I took one off the internet that had the AA logo in it too and just cut it out in paint (the program). However, even though I blew up the finished product to cover most of that space, (the oval is 5x8.5), it still printed tiny. I really didn't think that the sticker that came with the sub would stick to the paint well, so I later painted a crescent moon, (Moon is my last name), in the oval in the same metallic that I originally had!
