  1. I've heard of people using non-hardening rope caulk... But I agree with ^^^, are the screw tight?
  2. Also, what size fuse do you recommend for a 4 gauge power wire going to an amp with two 30A fuses running 600 watts RMS? I would assume 60A, but you know what they say about assume, it makes an arse out of u and me.
  3. So how should I set my settings? I'm sure this will have something to do with personal preferences, so what if I generally want to sound good at all volume levels? What do you use/recommend?
  4. I own a pioneer DEH-11E, and because I've got a new sub on the way, I want to set everything up right this time. Basically, right now I have most of the settings maxed out and/or close to it. I heard that I should never use the "loud" setting, as it will be detrimental to SQ, so I'm curious, what does the "loud" setting do? Is it like bass boost, where it only boosts one frequency? Also, on my HU I am able to set BASS, TREBLE, MID, and "SLA." What is this "SLA" and what does it do? When I add to it, it seems to do the same thing as the "loud" setting, but that is just what I hear with these ears of mine: what does it actually do? Finally, I'm going to start running my amp at 1 ohm when I get my new sub, (it's D2 and my CV right now is D4), so I'm upgrading my power wire. I was wondering, where can I buy a fuse holder? (I am going to just buy some welding wire for the power wire.)
  5. Did you plug your external dimensions into the box calculator? Unless it asks for the thickness of the wood, then you should plug in your internal dimensions. My box is 18.5x17.75x32.5 internally, and after all displacements, it's only 4.35cuft... I didn't actually plug it into a calculator, but I'm thinkin' 4.7cuft is would be the volume if your external dimensions were really your internal dimensions. Better check that.
  6. Gee thanks... I ordered my BL with both those options yesterday... Oh well, it's still worth it!
  7. AQ makes some nice amps, (nicer than hifonics for sure), and they're not too expensive, although if the cash is there for the sundown, then go with that.
  8. Green's my favorite color... Good job!

You're that guy from the AQ site homepage aren't you? Bumpin' system in a nice car... I dislike you already... lol. Nice ride man.
  10. A lot of people on here who have experience with maxxsonics products, (Hifonics and Crunch), have had a lot of problems with them. Apparently, asides from being unreliable, they have overinflated power ratings. I have no experience with them, but from what I hear, you'd best steer clear.
  11. x2 I forgot to ask that...
  12. Also, what size is your port opening? What are the dimensions?
  13. but they are all the internal dimensions of the box, correct? I know that you probably know that external dimensions don't matter other than fitting it into the vehicle, but I'm just asking to be sure.
  14. As long as you don't go crazy with the knobs, I'd save up some money for the SAZ-1000D; you can get it right at the store on here and it is definitely a better product than Hifonics makes.
  15. Now these are all internal dimensions, right?
  16. What options did you get with your SSD?
  17. True ****. That's how I'm spending my time waiting; building el boxo
  18. Thanks for the heads up guys. Already got the 8 gauge, as I said before, but I'll remember this for next time, (and there will be many, many, more next times )... Not that I'm not taking your information to heart, it's just that so long as I'm not damaging my speaker or affecting the sonic qualities majorly, then I'll stick with what I have. But thanks again, all you guys are really great about helping us yung 'uns learn what we need to so that we don't destroy the things we washed dishes for 3 years to buy.
  19. I'm looking at this chart, and I'm kinda worried... I was going to run the wire through the port on my box, but after running it from the back of the box up to the port... I don't know if 8 gauge is overkill... especially if I might have 4ft from amp to sub... What should I do? Suggestions anyone?
  20. Had a similar question in my post. Thanks for helpin' me on that one chop.
  21. I wasn't sure but these cables were so cheap I just figured I'd get them. As far as going overboard on the wire gauge, too big of wire won't hurt, will it?
  22. Thanks everybody. For a short time, the BL will only see 600 watts, but in the future something like 1400...
  23. I'm getting some 8 gauge wire for speaker wire for my BL 15 that's coming, and my friend's dad, (who is an electrician), said that there were some rather flexible jumper cables available at Menard's that would suit my needs. Now I've always been told wire is wire and copper is copper, but some of the 4 gauge welding wire I was looking at is rated for 90 amps and these cables are rated for 400 amps... I'm serious, it says right on the package 400 amps for these 8 gauge cables... Is that O.K? I'm pretty new to this electrical voodoo, so if anyone could say ya or ney it would be greatly appreciated.
  24. Gotcha. Sub ordered tomorrow... I hope. Going with fully loaded. Thanks you guys!
