  1. i personally have experienced problems with rca outputs on pioneers going bad and other people
  2. Sub is in a slot port enclosure, 3.5 cu ft, tuned @ 32hz. I was thinking a sundown saz2000. the audioque 2200d is a little more budget friendly. especially at 389 brand new shipped. on top of other minor upgrades with the electrical system i will have to do. Suggestions appreciated.
  3. i came to the conclusion that the voice coils burnt out. im now facing another problem. i still have my audioque 1200d installed. i now have a new atomic ap15 installed. i mounted in my box and went to wire it up. i then turned the car on to find that my amplifier is not turning on. why, i do not know. a week ago when i was doing testing it came right on and i have not touched it since. i checked my power wire fuse, good. i checked the amp fuses, good. possible wire shortage? remote wire problem? i have not had a problem with it not turning on at all. its very frustrating never had so many problems with a system before, thanks for help. add on: if i had a band ground for my amp, would my amp power light even come on?
  4. well i took the sub out to check if the wires were connected inside maybe they were coming loose...they were intact...i also noticed when the amp is on theres a small airy noise coming from the speaker like a channel station that isnt coming in
  5. watch the show as it developes, lol. I still have yet to check it all out. this setup is actually in my girlfriends car. Hard for me to find the time to look at it. Im just wondering if it reall is the sub that was burning. He clearly put his nose to the port on the box and then smelled the diamond amp and said the amp was burning up. he told me get a new one so i did and the smell is still there after some hard playing. once i dis mount the sub and check it out ill determine it.
  6. no the sub is wired correctly i know that. i meant the wires running from the box to the amp could possibly been wired from + to - , vice cersa
  7. another question. if for some accidental reason i wired from the amp to the box terminals the opposite way (positive to negative), would that fry the sub instantly or through time? i only experienced this problem through out a couple days. the thing is i dont have spring terminals they are bolts. its a dual 2 ohm wired to 1 ohm. im almost sure i have the wires right just have not took the time to take out and check it all
  8. i do not know what my voltage is at. The audioque 1200d has a protection mode, im saying that it is not going into protection mode though
  9. Just recently i have experienced some problems with my system. 15" diamond audio hex pro & audioque 1200 (witch use to be a diamond audio 1200). At first i was experiencing a slight smell after a minute or so at loud volume. A friend of mine told me the capacitors in my diamond audio amp were frying. I then purchased a audioque 1200 and swapped it out with the diamond amp. At the first install the ground was bad so i moved it and scraped the paint. The slight smell came back even after switching the amps. I then started to experience the subwooofer fading in and out at times. One time it went completely silent and after turning the car on and off the sub came back on. It then again began to fade in and out to where i get no sound from the sub at all. Now what im wondering are what the possibilities are problem wise and what steps to take. Is the sub blown, is there a bad ground, rcas on head unit? The audioque's power indication light is on. Thanks for any replies
  10. im pretty sure theres hundreds of available pre-fab boxes built for your truck online. or even put a order in at your local audio shop. what year is it? edit - 07 based on your screen name
  11. ya THANKS lucky for a more positive answer appreciate it. gotta learn someday riiight?
  12. good answer shizzzon, exactly what i was looking for, thanks
  13. im asking in general. are these ports specific for spl. i mean do people really drive around with that thing in there truck. looking like a christmas present out of how the grinch stole christmas
  14. are these spl boxes? cuz that thing is damn ugly
  15. while were talking about ohm loads here, dont you want to run as many ohms as you can while still feeding at least the rms power into a sub. the more ohms the "harder" or "deeper" the sub performs. fill me in plz
  16. this is pretty lame. i need to get a hol dof the kid i got it from. he said it was only a couple weeks old or so and he took it out of his car after he bought a new one. so im thinkin i might be able to get it warrantied through him. worth a try.
  17. so your saying this should help the noise if it is the pico fuse?....gone.....
  18. even then, if there suppose to take precaution when installing, then they should follow through after installing. checking that the unit works fine. wether its used or not, for some reason he felt that it worked fine after installed. so he let it out the shop and signatured it as a proper and safe installation. everything on the unit works fine. its just that rca ground
  19. the thing is i bought it used. but they could have done testing after installing, to make sure its working properly. or maybe decided to let me find out for myself to make it look like blew the thing. i called them about this to see how much it would be to get fixed. they said 150$ flat rate. uhhh no. i just payed 140 for it and another 150 would be a waste. i could get a damn good head unit for 300 bucks if thats the case. they said they ship it off to some authorized fixing place for pioneer in new york. i really hope this is not the case
  20. do the active crossovers simply have adjustments on the crossovers themselves? and the passive you just wire them up and they automatically filter the frequencies themselves? i wouldnt mind getting a active set of components. i would take the time to adjust them. no biggie at all, i have worked in sound studios witch use the same measures for sound tuning. i just have never owned a set of components. i want something with precision and fairly loudness. maybe im under estimating tweeters. i just dont known how well they do with mid range vocals. my local shop sells hertz and bostom also. there prices are pretty high though
  21. bunny hop meaning leavin the factory wires intact and adding the bigger wires on top of them without removing anything. and far as the head unit mod goes thats ugly as hell. im pretty mad about that. what would cause it to blow? he said something about hooking it up while theres still power and connecting your rcas while powers ran to your amp??? something of that nature. and it was the first time it was installed and he thru it in there for me for cheap. i dont touch that stuff myself, i have them solder the wires. i turned my HU on afterwards and notcied it. there fault, mine? they know better then me i know that.
  22. i wasnt looking for a top knotch SQ setup down to the tee and dampining and everything. i was just differentiating between 3 way and 2 way. if there really not that effective, compared to 2 way in a significant way, i guess i could go with a 2 way system. i dont care to amplify the tweeters by themselves. i understand they run off the crossover, therefore if im running ONE 2way component set then i only need a 2 channel amp. to match the rms and ohm load as best as possible. you see it, you hear it, you like it, it lasts, all that matters. i dont need anyone telling me noob this and that. thanks though
  23. my local shop said they would bunny hop wires between connection points, leaving the factory wires installed. witch is understandable. i just had a issue with my new head unit installed today. it was making a windy/rumbling noise (the woofer). he said its a ground problem in the rca of my head unit. said i could send it to pioneer or do a quik mod on the rca of the head unit for 5 bucks. sound familiar?
  24. do you mean the hi power line from hertz? i did not really mean louder but yes maybe a powerful 3 way component system. more clear is what i was looking for. seeing as tweeters have there limitations, i think a vocal mid range driver in a 3 way system would comfort me. along with a nice 2 channel amp as i would not want to amp the tweeters by themselves.
