Good budget 10" sub
Ok, starting to narrow. SSA Dcon 10" vs. RE SRX 12" I can have the srx shipped to me for less than 100. The Dcon puts me at 142. Little over my budget. Anyone wanna donate to my paypal since I will be getting sex?

remote line issue
When you do the test you stated above, does the voltage go to zero from the power input and ground on the amp? IE: you have the positive terminal from the DMM on the power input and the negative terminal on the ground input. Because turning your radio on shouldn't affect the voltage there, because that is constant power coming straight from The battery.

Take a DMM and measure the voltage from the remote wire and make sure you've got a reading of around 12v when the key is on

Question about crimping terminals onto 1/0 gauge
I usually just borrow the guy from Julians display picture to beat my terminals with his man-hammer until I'm satisfied.

Can you send me a pic of that RE you have phi? I'd rather have a d2 so I can bridge it but that's not a big deal for this situation.

Good budget 10" sub
I put a CVR 12 in a friends car in a pre-fab pawn shop ported box on about 600 watts, and anything below 60 hz sounded like blowing air through a straw into a cup of milk. ^ That is why. That is no reason to bash on a cvr, like people say on here the build is all about the box and from what I am hearing the box was tuned way too high. I have mine in like 3cuft and its tuned to around 32hz and the lows hit almost as good as my ssd 15" did. I'm not trying to bash, but I had a powerbass in the same box, same amp, same vehicle, and the lows were much clearer and responsive. Idk though, they could be decent woofers in the right enclosure. I just personally haven't heard a setup of kickers yet that sound "good". Yes, they can get loud, but they have sounded like diarrhea.

Was thinking that too. Just came accross this: http://cgi.ebay.com/1-USED-SUNDOWN-AUDIO-SUBWOOFER-SUB-WOOFER-SA-10-D2-10-/270655028060?pt=Car_Subwoofers_Enclosures&hash=item3f044bfb5c#ht_486wt_905 Ebays cool for NEW equipment.. Any idiot can post a sub on Ebay that be beat to piss everyday and clipped the shit out of it. Just my .2 As much as i hate to say it, if you are going for output without caring about SQ.. i'd get kicker over alpine Good advice. I'll keep that in mind.

Good budget 10" sub
My girlfriend finally confessed she wants some bass in her ride. So I'm trying to figure out what I want to do as far as her sub. I'm looking for a decent 10".. nothing special. Rated around 300-800 rms. SPL or SQ don't outweigh each other here.. this is more or less just practice for me as far as my box building goes, and adding a little bass to her Saturn Ion. Preferably need a d2 so I can get a final 4 ohm load to bridge. I'll probably just be getting a cheap 2 ohm stable A/B amp to push it.. She doesn't care or have the ear to tell the difference in quality so it doesn't really matter. My budget is no more than ~100-120 after shipping for the sub. I'm open to all ideas, and if anyone has a sub for sale around this range, DO let me know! I am open to 12" subs too, as long as they don't require a massive box and don't exceed my budget. I will probably be building a ported box for this sub, since I haven't before. Like I said, It will be practice for me.. And if I mess up, she won't care

What do I have here?
I was at a friends house the other day and noticed he had a pair of speakers laying around he wasnt using.. I asked him why and he said "idk how to hook them up.." So I took a look at them and saw they were kind of old, but also noticed that they were Polk Audio speakers.. I know polk of being a good brand, and they looked like some decent speakers to have around so I told him I'd give him 25$ for the pair and we made the deal. I got home to do some research on them and can't find any that match up to these... the closest thing I can find are the "Polk Monitor 4's".. They look a lot alike except the tweeter style is slightly different and the port location on mine is off to the left instead of in the center. Anyone have any idea what these are or what they are worth? I have them hooked to my laptop off a sony 500W 4 channel amp and they sound quite pleasing actually. I like them for 25$.

FI BTL 20,000 WATT MONSTER!!!
So could this be a crossbreed of some sort?
-
FI BTL 20,000 WATT MONSTER!!!
That's the only other one I've found so far with a black basket though. Giving him benefit of the doubt, it could be a painted Fi basket, but that's definitely not a Fi motor. And it's not taking 20kw RMS. And I HIGHLY doubt his "other" single BTL is metering 160db on 3kw. I texted him asking if he still had the BTL with no reply.

Were the older baskets even black? Or did he just get a fi dustcap and magnet boot... Here's a pic of another BTL with a black basket so IDK: http://media.photobucket.com/image/fi%20btl%20v1/rd4me/100_0540.jpg definitely looks the same as the sub in the craigslist post. motor and all. The CL post has a chrome motor, the above pic has a gray motor.

I can't tell what kind of motor this thing has... I wanted to say some sort of DC; and it looks like a monkey glued the dustcap on it with half a bottle of elmers glue.

Crazy idle drop NEED help!!
what as an mla? After i got my alt installed the shop hooked a machine up that read how meny amps my car was pulling. and it was pulling 113 amps with everything off at idle How are you so sure it's a draw? I thought that's what mine was because it was acting the same way.. only at idle.. dropping down to 12 volts and all it was was a vacuum tube. Not saying that's what it is, but I am saying that just because voltage is dropping, doesn't mean something is drawing significant amounts of power out of nowhere. There could be an engine/alternator problem. Right there in red. My Apologies. I over read that portion.

Bass knob?
BTW, I stated above I like bass knobs.. I need to correct myself. I meant to say I like the RCA and Gain knobs... all bass knobs (bass boost knobs) are NOT good. CrazyKen pretty much covered what's good and what's not.
