  1. Looking good! I can't wait for these to be released. Any ideas on pricing on these yet?
  2. Did some measuing.. Not going to be able to make a sufficient box for 2 15's ported.. But just perfect for one 15. So I guess for now I'll just go with 1 Z15.
  3. well he stated on his forum that he was running really low on the d4s.. And I doubt he feels like holding an extra one for a couple weeks just for me ya know? And I could try to buy one used from someone else, but getting one shipped to my house for the 200$ that he is offering isn't likely to be found. Ya know?
  4. I had considered this, but I'm afraid that by the time I'm ready to buy a 2nd one, the d4s will be out of stock. I'm getting the sundown z15s
  5. I dont get what you mean how it will hold up? It seems like it will do well considering you can wire 2 D2 subwoofers to 1 ohm, they can only be wired to a 0.5, 2 and 8 ohm final load: Ahh I see now. Thanks again Jay. But I will probably only be running one of these for a while.. So that's really why I was concerned about the "holding up" deal. But I did a little more search in class and it looks like the amp will do fine at 1 ohm. But thanks for the wiring chart..
  6. Just noticed that I accedently posted this topic under the Subwoofers/Speakers section... Any mods that can move this to Amplifiers section by chance?
  7. I am currently running a memphis 16-st1000d amp. My question is: If I were to get 2 D2 ohm subs and wire them to 1 ohm on this amp, would it hold up ok? I've read that it has a 1100 watt output on 14v @ 1 ohm. I'm not sure the effenciency or anything though. I've done a little research but havnt found a whole lot. Here's probably the best post I could find: Memphis Car Audio 16-ST1000D
  8. Thank you sir... You'll be getting an e-mail from me probably tomorrow. I'll probably end up ordering another within the next 2 weeks as well
  9. Ok so I did some research on the Z15's... I can get 2 of these for 20$ more than I can get 1 Fi BL... (Z15 - 400$ shipped, Fi BL - 380$ shipped)A nyone recommend me doing this? I mean it's more cone area, and they seem to be some good subs.. If I got 2 of those as opposed to 1 BL I personally think It'd be better. Any advice?
  10. Are these still in stock? If so I'm getting one...
  11. Thank you, thank you...
  12. the box is going to be plenty sufficiant for either sub. And the BTL is slightly over my budget for now. This is going to be my temporary SPL "fix" until I get a bigger vehicle.
  13. I'm trying to decide between a 15" SSA XCON or a Fi BL 15"... My goals are just SPL. SQ isn't a big enough concern to alter my decision. I will be running it in the trunk of a Grand Am in a 4^3ft(ish) ported box at 32 hz, off a memphis 16-st1000d for now at 1 ohm. I've got all my electrical ready.. Just trying to pick between these 2. I've never heard either one personally, so I'm looking for opinions on which would produce higher SPL in this situation. If you have any other opinions on a differen't subwoofer, I'm open for those as well. P.S. BUDGET - 400$
  14. I'd settle with the 2 8's ported at 32 hz, do big 3 upgrade, and call it a day. You shouldnt be disappointed. Hair tricks? Possibly.. not promising though. All depends on the setup really. Sure you'll be able to move hair a little, but you're not going to be doing a S.M. afro blaster with 2 8's.
  15. I say port 2 12's or 1 15" in an optimal box and call it a day. You're also saving money that way by using half the subs and getting louder at the same time. Like stated above, something like 2 15"s ported is going to sound better than 4 15"s in a sealed box. My suggestion: 1 15" Fi BL in a good 4cft box ported at about 32-35 hz. I guarentee you wont be disappointed. If you have the space though, shoot for 2 15"s ported. But remember, 1 sub in an optimal box is going to sound better than 2 subs being choked in a box too small for them.
  16. I just ordered one of the long sleeves.. and I was gonna get a hat but when you go to check out, the only size hat there is is small/med.. but on the first screen there's a large option. So I didn't get to get one
  17. I'm looking into getting a new head unit, and I was wanting some suggestions.. I'm looking for something simple, but quality. I need ability to play MP3 CD's, Have an AUX input, and a USB port that will work with iPod or iPhone (not a major need though). I have an XO vision something or other 3" screen DVD player type head unit that I got from wal mart online for like 100$, and I'm just not impressed with the quality or controls. In order to do anything on the HU you have to use the remote control, which is extremely annoying. The built in EQ is pitiful too. I'm just looking for simple, and quality, with the features I stated above. My budget is about 250-300$. I don't have a lot of experience with head units, so I'm simply just looking for a direction to look in when I plan on updating. Suggestions anyone?
  18. Welcome to SSA! You've made a great decision
  19. What you have should be plenty sufficient for the BL. I'd say it's going to sound nice. If you're looking for a pounding..I'd tune the box to approx 32 hz. That's a happy medium for what you're looking for from what I know. It's usually a great tuning for most rap songs with good basslines. Now you can always try using a different enclosure with the W7 and see how you like it before you drop 400$ on a BL.. A W7 in a good enclosure will absolutely POUND. But if you're just straight up not satisfied with the W7, then I'd suggest what I've stated above, and you should be satisfied at the least. I'm actually planning on ordering the same sub (15" BL fully loaded 2 ohm DVC) here in the next couple weeks. Good luck with your install! I'd love to see what you end up with when you're done. It's always fun to compare
  20. You shouldn't intercept someone else's post of a question with a question of your own problem. If you need help with something of your own, you should create a new thread. Not to sound like an ass.. just saying. Some people find it rude, and annoying to have other people take over their post with a problem of theirs other than posting advice or help to the original posters question.
  21. Don't mean to sound like a broken record of these guys.. But I would highly suggest at least the HO alt. Make sure you get all the electrical out of the way before you worry about the install. Just to be safe, I'd get a alt., at least one more battery, and have you done the Big 3? Powering a 18 with that much wattage is going to inhale your electric system without these updates
  22. I keep searching for the hats on the site.. still haven't seen any sign of them. What's up? and are the lanyards coming?
  23. good to know thank you! If you want to "plan ahead".. the most I would do is just do the big 3 upgrade with 1/0 and hook everything up and call it a day. See how that does you, and if it's not keeping up, then that's where you can start taking routes such as adding the extra battery and a higher OP alt. Personally, I think your stock electrical will hold up fine.. My first system was a 1000W memphis pushing 2 12" audiobahns, all off of the stock electrical, and 4 gauge power cable. It held up just fine (12.3v was about the lowest the voltage got). The battery was about 5 years old and the alt only put out about 80-100 amps. If you just want to take a cheap route to be prepared, the most effective thing to do, like I said earlier would be to do the big 3. It's a nice thing to already have done anyway, just in case you plan on having a bigger install in the future. The better flow of electricity you have from the alt to the bat, the easier it is for the alt to keep a steady charge on the battery.
