  1. Hahaha I love being half asleep in Web design class and posting on here.. Sorry about that guys Thanks for the links though much appreciated
  2. Right now I'm running 4g cable from battery to my amp. I'm getting ready to do the big 3 with 1/0 cable, but my amp terminals are only 4/0.. is there some sort of adapter that I can use to be able to run the 1/0 into this amp? I need about 4 of these.. 2 for in line fuse (only 4/0 as well), 1 for 12v on amp, and 1 for ground from amp. I'm getting rid of my cap after this upgrade so no need for adapters on it.
  3. X2.. This has always worked better than anything for me. Not the prettiest but it gets the job done for sure.
  4. x2, but if you still want the BTL that amp will be suitable until you buy another one if you still feel you need another one. Hey jay-cee.. Off topic but I just wanted to thank you for all your help. You've posted on all of my threads and you are very helpful in all my situations so far. Big thanks.. AND lucky as well.. thanks to you too
  5. I have a pair of these audiobahn. They are from an old setup of mine.. I'm not repairing it to use, I'm repairing it to help sell the pair in this box. I've been through multiple setup. But if you still wish to give some opinions, here's my goals and whatnot: much spl, sq isn't a real concern because with as loud as I will be playing, it won't make much difference. I have a 99 pontiac grand am. I'm looking into (for my next install): 1 18" btl 230 amp h/o alt yellow top optima battery big three upgrade You will not be able to fit an 18" in there and it sound right, get the 15" and put it in 5ft^3 and call it a day. right right.. What would you suggest on an amp? Right now I'm running a 1100w Memphis 16-st1000d. Should that be suitable?

  7. I need a recone on a 12" Audiobahn aw1206t, and I have now idea on how to go about getting this done. From what I've heard, Audiobahn has gone out of out of business. So does anyone know what I need to do about getting this recone done? Or should I just trash it and buy a new sub?
  8. I need my back seats, and I don't have a budget for 2 subs.
  9. Well I'm REALLY looking into the 18" BTL.. Have all the electrical and everything done, just need the enclosure and sub. Can you think of any ways to make this idea a reality? It's about the only way I can think of to have a big enough enclosure for the 18" without taking out my back seats. I can seal the trunk as much as I possible can with it still be functional.
  10. I've posted one thread similar to this one once before, But I felt the need to make one a little more clear. I own a Pontiac Grand Am. One of the worst vehicles to work with when it comes to car audio installs due to very limited room. I got an idea the other day sitting in the front seat looking back at my folded down back seats. I figured.. what if I took the open area where my seats fold down leading to my trunk area, put up one peice of 3/4 or so MDF across that opening, cutting a opening in it for the 18" BTL and another for a port that's tuned to 30-35 hz and using my entire trunk area as the enclosure, without the need to build an enitre box. Since there is not enough room in my trunk to build a logical box for an 18", this seemed like a pretty genius idea. I'd of course be covering the entire lining of the trunk with DynoMat/SecondSkin (some sort of dampener). So my question is, would this be a good idea? Or would I be making myself look like a complete idiot? Like I said, I've never seen this done so I don't know if it's logical or not. Any professional advice or suggestions would be GREATLY appreciated. I will be taking pictures later today to post on this thread to help get the idea across a little clearer. Thanks in advance guys! -Shag
  11. Well I can get by with building a wall without taking out my back seats. So that's not really a concern. I just need a big enough enclosure for this sub, and building a box for it isn't a reality when it comes to this car.
  12. I haven't done exact measurements, but just an approx. guess.. about 6-7^3 feet max. Grand Am trunks are very little

  14. So first off, I'm running a '99 Pontiac Grand Am. As we all know, the space in a Grand Am is EXTREMELY limited when it comes to car audio installs.. SO I had a few questions for my future install. I'm really looking into an 18" Fi BTL for the car, but there is not enough room in the trunk to build a box big enough to appropriately house this large of a subwoofer. So my questions are: 1) If I were to take out my back seats and just build a wall to put the sub in, would this be a better idea? 2) If so, what would I do about porting the "wall" to a specific frequency? (30-35 hertz) 3) If a wall isn't the best route to take in this situation, are there any other ways to solve my dilemma without grading down to a smaller subwoofer? If anyone has ANY suggestions or opinions on this setup/plan, please feel free to post them. All help is greatly appreciated! Thanks, -Shag
  15. why is that a bad idea? And the box specifications on the ficaraudio website for one 18" is 5-8 cubes with an rms of 2k without it being loaded. Either way, I've decided to not run seperate amps so I'm going with the d2 and looking into a hifonics Brutus 2601, or something of that nature for the time being. I'm getting an electrical upgrade for Christmas as well. A 200+ amp alt and a yellowtop optima. Eventually the big 3
  16. HAHAH this is so me.. Except I had a system sitting in the floor of my room, before I had a car. Let alone a license. And I'm asking for a HO alt this Christmas LOL
  17. Yes you can, run one amp to one coil and the other to the other coil. Hence the "Dual" voice coils
  18. Do you plan on getting another BTL in the future? For one BTL you could get the D2. Then say you get a sundown amp, you can run it at one ohm and if you decide to upgrade, strap two sundowns together, for 4krms @ 2ohm (if you use the SAZ-2000D for example). It works out both ways. What amps do you have now? But if you must stick to what you have already, i would go for the D2. Remember, there is no such thing as underpowering. I don't plan on getting another BTL any time soon, for one.. I have a pontiac grand am, and building a 5 cubic foot box to fit in there is going to be near impossible, so I wont have room for another one. It will be like 2 months before I get another amp.. so would you just recommend getting the D2 and settling with the one 1k amp until then?
  19. I'm ordering the BTL 18", and I have 2 smaller amps (approx 1k rms each) and I was planning on running both of them to the 1 sub.. However, I also plan on buying a bigger amp in the future and running it alone to the sub at 1 ohm. Should I just get the D2 and just run one of the 1kw amps to it until I get the other amp?
