I am so drove right now. Got home from work and found out my 3500 was delivered today by the mail lady since it was shipped USPS. My fiance was asleep and didnt here her knocking. So now I have to wait till Monday to get it . Cant wait though will be uploading pics and hopefully a vid or 2 tuesday if the weather hold so I can build a new box for 12.

To acheive what your trying to do you need to be more toward the 3.5 side I understand what your trying to do I have a s10 blazer and I was kinda face with the same delimma. I was tryint to do four 12s and I didnt want the box to come above my back seat. I have a nightshade 12 that I just got last night in a box that is about 1.4 ported. I sounds ok but it needs a bigger box to achive the affect I want. So IMO i would try to build one as close to the 3.5 as I can get, if your within 10% of that you should be ok.

If you want it loud and low you need them in about 7.5 after speaker displacement the box you have them in now if that after the speaker displacement and the port?

I am sold,, i just got my nightshade 12 with the cracked rim from this guy for a 100 after I checked the coils both read 1.3 so i snatched it. First of seing as how this is my first sundown product I must say I am VERRY Impressed. Going from maistream product to Sundown I must admit I was a little skeptical at first. But all I can say is All Hail Jacob this sub POUNDS. As a matter of fact after hearing this sub I just bought a Sundown 3500 and cant wait to hear them togather. Even though here in north Louisiana Sundown isnt really heard of that much but I promise I will personally be making sure it is. Cant wait to the v2s come out so that I can get another one. Keep up thegreat work man. Going to build me a bigger box next week when I am off just through it in a box that was about 1.75 at best and it still did great with about 800watts to it. Will be posting some pics and vids next week when I build the new box and put the 3500 in. SUNDOWN FOR LIFE!!!!!

When you say running between 14 and 16 volts are you talking about the alternator? You shouldn't charge our 12v batteries over 14.9volts. How many watts total are you going to be running? What are you going to be using it for spl, daily driver, etc....? Total power I am guess will be at least 10000 wats, it will be mainly for spl but I will drive it occasionally. The alt. will have a external regulator that will be adjustable up to 16v so that s what they told me. But I am just trying to see what I need to sustain the amps at a good voltage for bass race, bass boxing, etc.

About to start a build with 4 of the sundown 2500 when they are available what batterries would you recommend and how many. going to be running a 200amp alt. running between 14 and 16 volts.

Rockford isn't run by audiophiles, it's run by business men who have an obligation to the investors, not to steer the company in a less profitable direction because they want to deal with "core audio". The people in the board room don't give a shit what Rockford produces, sells or how it works, all they care about is making the company money, their salaries depend on it. Thats why people had their rides brought in for CES on Rockfords dollar? And the same person was given shit. No paid for but given to him by Rockford to push the new line. Boy kid you really take an 'insiders' word to heart. Well let me tell you as an investor in Rockford I called my stock broker, when I read about them dropping Best Buy from their dealers list to find out what the new plans were (if they could find shit out) and all the data they could find pointed to Best Buy moving more and more to iPod, and shit that can EASILY integrate with stock which is a direction kicker is heading, not Rockford. So believe what you want, and while the bottom note is money they also looks at common sense for their marketing area. J I havent seen a big push for Ipod integration we only stock a few things like the i simple by peripheral. Hell prettty much any of the decks out now have ipod capabilities anyway. So I dont know where this big ipod push thing is. They are making a big deal out of the viper smart start where you can start your car with the i phone. But I I guess I will see how this plays out in the next month when I start getting product.

Thats a very true statement, at the end of the day thats all everyone cares about. From the investors all the way down to the installers. But me personally I take pride in my work that I do from the basic of installs to custom work. I also want the customers that I have ot be satisfied with there product. Basically BBY is giving the cutomers what they have been asking for for years. You would be surprised at how many customers I get in the store that come in and ask for Kicker products and the dont want anything else but that. There is another shop in town that sells it but the owner told me that he hasnt beeb pushing it much over the past few years. Mainly because people come in tryn to get him to match internet pricing on product and he wont do it because he woont make any money. He says that hes pushing Treo now since they protect there dealers.

I have also heard that rockford was in finacial trouble as well, remember that they are a coporation that has a board of people that control the company best buy isnt like that. Honestly we havent really been selling alot of their product lately. I have 3 p3 12s 3 and 3 p500.1s that I cant get rid of. The only thing that I sell consistantly are the amp kits and other install products.

I am going to be honest most of the installers that work for best buy arent mecp certified even though they say its a requirement for being hired. It really depends on where you apply. I was lucky I worke at a shop for a few years until it closed and then I just kinda bounced around with a few jobs. But if you get hired they have the study guides for all the mecp test for you to study for it. But experience is always the best thing. I have a guy that i am training havve been for the past year and a half and heis coming along pretty good if you can fin someone to mentor you that will help with your experience.

Its funny I work there have axcess to all this stuff and none of the things in my car come from the store. My store stays pretty stocked on decks we sell a lot of in dash video pieces, which are 100 a pop to install. We are a small store but we do quite a bit of work. I am just really egear to see what the selection is going to be. Some of the other installers that used to work for circuit city claim that the return rate on amps and subs are about to go up.

I work for Best Buy I am at there advacned level and I make around 17 an hr. Right now if your not working for a company like this it is kinda hard to find a car audio job that can be a real career . I am working on my master certification now . But honestly I am also trying ot become a manager for Best Buy and do the car audio as my hobby. There arent really many people that can say they retired from being a full time installer.

I found out some news when I went to work the other day Best Buy has dropped rockford and now will be carrying kicker and polk audio. I have talked several other installers that work for best buy as I do, and most of them really are excited about it. I am just wondering how well its going to go over. I admit that our selections are limited in stores,but ther are a lot of customers that do come and ask for Kicker products. The only thing that I can see that would make this not be a good move, is that if they dont carry the full line in stores and just keep the low end stuff.

So what all is included in the recone will that fix the rim of the sub as well?

Heard it play but I admit it does look ruff thats why I was wondering what a recone cost.

I have a guy trying to sell me a nightshade 12 that the rim where the surround meets is cracked. I am just wondering could that be fixed and if so, howe much would it be. He said that it was supposedly damaged in shipping.

Going in the back of a 2001 blazer so I got room I just never have been a big fan of 15's for some reason I have always used 12's on ever build that I have done.So you think the 2 15's would be louder than the 4 12's.Thats what I am looking for is what will give me the most output from what I will be using The four twelves will still push more air, but there is no reason why properly installed 15s couldn't be louder. Again, it is all in the install. I think the two 15s are cheaper though. Thanks for the input,like i said the main reason I am asking is just because I haven't had any experience using the subs at all. So I am just trying to get some feed back from you guys, since I know that most of you have probably used sundown equipment or no someone who has.
