  2. okay, so where to start.. I have a AQ2200 in my GMC S15 ext cab. The other day it was working perfect, i unhooked the amp (while batt disconected) and took it out because i was removing my seats+subs w/box and going to shampoo the seats and where the amp is located i didnt want the seat brackets to bang/hit against the amp. Well i cleaned everything and put everything back in and everything LOOKED like it was working fine but.. there was no sound comming from my speakers... so, i recheck all my wires.. once, twice, and a third time.. i unhooked and hooked the wires to the amp again.. no sound. I switched the + & - speaker wires in different inputs of the amp.. no sound. I took my subs out and every thing was connected as before.. but no sound. I can hear the amp turn on and the subs make a LITTLE like power bust "boomp" when i turn the key (starting the car and i tried only half way so everything is on but motor not running) so.. i stuck my nose by the vent in the amp, no odd smell of burnt material. Now i know what you are thinking "well, he unhooked everything and it was working before hand, so it must be lack of proper install." - BUT.. i know for a fact everything is in its proper location. I've done some research on this topic and didnt find my answer, just a bunch of noob responces. WHAT I HAVENT DONE IS... take my H/U out and check the RCA's/or the little ass wire from H/U to amp. I've checked to see if i sliced any wires taking the seats out with the brackets, but no slices. I have taking my amp out a few times in a couple weeks due to random reasons like.. taking it to an auto shop and dont want them doing anything to it, made an amp rack, etc etc etc. So to recap on THE OTHER DAY: All wires connected proper, Green power light ON, Sound comming from subs. So to recap on CURRENT STATUS AFTER RE-INSTALLING: All wires connected proper, Green power light ON, NO Sound comming from subs. Please help me..
  3. Nice!
  4. ...well i decided to say fuck the 8's and just go with a 6.5 componet set. It'd be a better fit for the doors. Its going to be a bitch figuring out what im going to do to make it fit.. i dont glass. I'll probably go with the Type X componet set. (SPX-17PRO) and a PDX amp. Unless you guys think the AQ comps &+ amp would be better hmmmm? - probably the alpines.
  5. well itd be hard to find someone with the exact truck as me.. but if someone has a s-series truck or something like it feel free to chime in..
  6. First off, i have a 86 ext cab s15 pickup truck and the equipment is in my sig. I hear matting them is bad because of the natural cabbin flex these trucks need to sound at best when dealing with SPL. Then.. i heard people gain from them with matting(for spl). I've pretty much heard A LOT of things... only mat the floor.. only mat the side pannels.. etc etc etc. So can someone clear this up for me? Im looking to gain some dBs while still having the natural effect of matting (music inside, noise outside)
  7. pucking love this amp.
  8. those are some good numbers haha
  9. STINGER SVMB BLUE DIGITAL VOLTAGE METER GAUGE : eBay Motors (item 300390674786 end time Feb-24-10 15:45:43 PST) ebay has them for a lot cheaper + free shipping.
  10. can you elaborate?
  11. To avoid any confusion in the future, midbass and subbass are two different things. Think of midbass as middle bass, as that's what it is short for; and sub bass as below bass, as that's what "sub" means. Yes i know midbass and subbass are two different things. I just thought THAT guy was using a subbass driver for his mids, because i didnt kow mids went that big in size.
  12. Are you looking for a component set or just 8" midbass? What exactly are you trying to do here? x2, good question? Im going to run some Image Dynamic Horns with my 8" midbass, depends on listening preference and what your trying to achieve. I only listen to rap and what im trying to do is just get some nice midbass that'll go good with 2 15" HDC3s & 2 AQ2200.
  13. Are you looking for a component set or just 8" midbass? What exactly are you trying to do here? Im looking for a componet set with 8" midbass. I have a s15 so there is ONLY dash and rear pannel speakers, so im going to have to take my door apart and either cut my own speaker hole or get some sort of an enclosure. Im scrapping the dash and pannel speakers, so i am starting from strach here. Ive looked around and havent been able to find an 8" comp set. - well any worth having.
  14. What models? - if you dont mind me asking. Also, are you going to have tweeters still? i want to get 8" but i dont know where the tweeters would come into play.. with the 8s are you getting them in a componet set? with crossovers and tweeters?
  15. Sorry for the confusion, im wanting to use the 8inch for mid bass. I wasnt aware of there even being a 8inch mid bass sub, i didnt think it would go that big in size. I thought it was a sub bass sub being used for mid bass, as you can see where the confusion started. - So to recap would an 8inch mid bass driver perform good in a door? I am aware that each driver needs a certant amount of space etc. etc. etc. but i see mid bass speakers in doors all the time with no other enclosure but the door itself.. once again, you can see where i am getting confused.
  16. How did the 8s sound in the door? -really want to try it out. Did you have anything else for the vocals?
  17. I seen on a build log this guy put 8" subs in his doors for mid bass. He didnt use a box or anything but a adapter so the sub can be mounted. - i am thinking about doing this to my s15 but i imagined that the sub will need the right enclosure to play good. So it leaves me with the question.. will an 8inch sub play good in a door without anything but an adapter for the sub to be mounted. I cannot ask him how it sounded because i dont remeber where the log was. -thanks Dom.
  18. Replacing an alt is easy as cake, replacing anything under the hood is easy.. OP slow yr role and get what is NEEDED.
  19. Was told by a very skilled box builder that website the with the calc. wasnt dead nuts.
  20. i would go in and talk to the installer and have him go through the install with you.. show you the blueprints if you will. 1 guy can be a really cool relaxed guy and do shitty work.. and one guy can be an arseho and do an amzing job. after knowing how they would do the install and noticed the tricks each installer has.. see what one is best for you.
