  3. Paper handed in Now it's time for the powerpoint presentation and some changes on the application. Sean, I have some "problems" with my fft. It samples at 2.5 kHz, in theory the max frequency is 1.25 kHz. Now, if I play a 1.5 kHz tone it starts going backwards, from the last component to the first and it appears on the graph. Is that what would be called spectral leakage ? That kills my result, since I have a ton of content over 1.25 kHz when testing with real-life sounds. I'm not doing any filtering before sampling (planning to do an LPF) and I'm not applying any windowing function. Yet.
  4. Beyond tired with all the typing.

  8. That basically is what I do all day everyday. What is the paper on? Sound detection using FFT analysis. Quite simple actually, since in the end it compares spectrograms. So far the application worked perfect with sine waves... Might need some "signature analysis" depending on what you are detecting. I've done some strange detections including many I can't talk about It's a detection of stored sounds. I store the spectrogram for each sound, then in a random 'environment' I point out which of the sounds previously stored are present. What does signature analysis do ? Finds a hick on a gear in a transmission, an out of tolerance bearing, 1st bending mode from 2nd, Obama bin Laden (mispell on purpose) from other terrorist fucks, production tolerances on raw speakers, noise output tolerance on electric motors and so on and on and on and on. That sounds a lot like what my application can do. I save the signatures of certain sounds and them look for the signatures in a testing sound.
  9. To make matters worse, theres an SQ / SPL comp in town this weekend and I need another flare to compete.
  10. I feel your pain homie, never enough time in the day. Yep, never enough time. The only thing missing now is somebody to complain he / she is bored and can't find anything to do.
  11. This is so typical. I planned on finishing the paper today (only 15 pages until the minimum length is met) and I had to build 4 flares. Going right now to load a truck of rubble with the backhoe and another one tomorrow morning. Total written so far today: 0 pages.

  14. Literally ran out of inspiration after 20 pages written today. At least I understood the whole FFT theory and algorithms.
  15. Happy Birthday ! ! !
  16. Spent 6hrs today in the attic of the country house, insulating and installing sheetrock. 90 degrees outside, not sure how many inside but I'm beat.
  17. If you are running a full ranger, I wouldn't worry so much about the midbass for staging reasons. Crossing under 3-400Hz won't affect it much. I would instead consider where you can get them more volume behind the drivers, if the kicks are truly vented outside and you can seal it off that would be my pick. I'll take a better look at it soon. Thanks for the help! tried to cut some of that post down.. so im a idiot. mounting depth on 6.5 sls is 3.30" so they will fit in the doors. im not going with the kicks because they would need some work to even get sealed up well and they may vent outside but they also vent up behind the dash. anyways, i think i will go with the sls in the doors, founteks in the a piller.. question on processing. im trying to spend about 200 on the head unit. alpine cda 9855 is at the top of the list, i also know the 9853 is an option but after showing my brother them, he liked the screen more on the 9855. the price difference is not much of a difference anyways. so far i missed out on two 9855's on ebay. there is another coming up in a little over 1 day that i will try for. i was also considering some other options. im wondering on what you think of a alpine cda 105 and imprint combo? lowest price on ebay is about $235 (buy it now items). however, for about 170 you can get a 9853 with, what appears to be, the same functionality. (guess i answered my own question) pioneer prs 880 and 800 seem to be going for a little more then what i would like to spend. i think i'll try a wtb thread as well. Make sure you check the tweeter channel high-pass in case you want to use full-ranges or even a passively crossed mid / tweeter combo on that channel. thanks for pointing that out, i believe most alpine decks are stuck with a 1000hz highpass on the tweeter channel. so i went with an amp to handle the highpass on the full rangers (us acoustics usx 2080 from audioclinic). Can you use the t/a and eq without the crossover being active on the tweet? If not....ugh. tell me if this sounds about right.. you can set the slope to flat on the tweeter crossover. it involves "Setting the Response Slope for the High Range Speaker (TW SETUP)" and choosing "USER" which allows you to set a flat slope. by default it is set to "MAKER" which disables the Flat option. Sounds just like all the newer Alpines I know.
  18. Glad I could 'help'
  19. Fucking WIN! Bag the head You haz problems She's got a butt face. If you took away some of her fake boobs then even in that outfit she doesn't deserve looks. Those are what make her even acceptable to look at, otherwise I find her pretty gross. Crooked eyes !
  20. whip it out top !
  21. I somehow had to drive home one who wasn't attractive but kept yapping...the whole drive she didn't stop yapping, all I could think of is that I wanted to whip it out to stop the yapping.
  22. That means it's time to whip it out. "Yo bish, work this"
  23. I'll have to second that.

Actually starting with the 9835 and 9833 higher end Alpine decks have an option to run any slope and any tweeter HPF. The Pioneer 880 on the other hand can't go lower than ~1k.
