  1. Did you go with the gloss or the flat?? Seems to have a shine to it. Were are your build logs?? Gloss. It does have some shine but that might be the flash. Not a lot to show on this install. 10-15 pics and that's all.
  2. Beats me what the english term is. But in order to finish my studies I have one final project to do. Which is going to be a bearing failure detector. . The sound of a bearing will be captured, FFT will be performed to figure out the frequency response and then that frequency response will be compared to a stored frequency response. Any anomalies will point out that something is wrong.
  3. Now that this is out, I still have one more box to build. After that it's about time to work on my graduation project.
  4. Yeah just wondered if it would be a big difference or not. Either way, love your craftsmanship Thanks ! It will be metered when the time comes and I can try with or without the cosmetic part of the amp rack. Would be cool to make 2 holes and install ports for competitions.
  5. The amp rack has 2 pieces. One of them is purely cosmetic, I haven't put it on when testing but it will kill some output.
  6. Honda delivered. Obviously something had to happen and here is some nasty static noise from the 4 channel amp. Bad grounding point is the suspect, however the owner will be back for tuning and to fix that issue since we were done close to midnight and couldn't play it loud.
  7. Wouldn't the clear coat give it even more gloss ? Trying to keep it flat. Shucks guys, I hope the customer will like it, today is delivery day.
  8. Definatly have seen some guys do some great stuff with rattle cans, you may be one of them, but with that type of quality work you should invest in a spraygun setup! I'm certainly not one that does great rattle can stuff And you are right about a spray gun. It would have made life easier and paint more consistent. Way too much effort for paint though.
  9. Giving it a go tomorrow. Need to charge the battery first
  10. First layers of paint Seems like the first layer which was on the amp rack looked better after some wetsanding with 600 and a second layer of paint, so I'll end up doing 3-4 layers. Right side enclosure is gloss to see if it looks any better than flat black. Once everything is in the trunk, if you get close to look for defects you block the light so the defects are way less visible compared to having the enclosures and rack outside.
  11. Mucho thanks !
  12. Our old 1980 MK1 still drives around town, with the same plates as when we had it I'll have to ask the owner if he wants to sell it on teh cheap.
  13. Are you rebuilding them? If so let me know. We have been buying shit ones and rebuilding them for use in our haunt. We may be able to help you out if you like. The HDD (MK2006 GAL) on mine took a dump. It's a 4th gen that I'm using only in the car. Apart from just changing the drive and reinstalling the firmware anything else that needs to be done ? I will let you know as soon as my partner (in the haunt) gets back to me. He does the work, I supply the money and he does this cheap. Have you tried doing a reset by holding the power button for 5 sec then plug in usb while holding the power button? If that does not work let me know because we will have to do it the hard way. How many gig do you have open? I tried everything. Even did a hard reset, then started the HDD diagnostic test which never completed. It just clicks and clicks once I plug it in.
  14. And then sell in a year I wish... Seems like Mk2's will be the same... Time to track one down.
  15. Not probably, 100% although some components that are critical come from Malaysia. (also possible some major parts from Vietnam as a critical part supplier for them just put up a facility there last year). Either way, the only way they are different is if the advertised chinese drive didn't pass some of the end of line tests as well. Normally that stuff goes to Fry's so I'd bet it also stays in China. The seller is from China, forgot to mention that. Version sold in the US has 90 days warranty, which is a bit more comforting compared to China.
  16. Mk1 Golf's are ridiculously expensive after passing the 30 year mark

  19. Thanks for sharing! Looks Awesome! Will it be painted to match the vehicle? Thank you ! I only have rattlecan paint at my disposal. It's all going to be flat black with accents to match the car. The amp rack is already painted. Doesn't look awesome up-close
  20. 2 from China probably..
  21. New ipod hard-drive from China or from the US ? It's $30 vs $60.. Hmmm... decisions..
  22. That turned out great Good job !
  23. Battery test is the best thing you can do at this point. I will rule out one thing that changed in your setup. The other thing that changed is the amp. You can only rule it out by testing with another amp.
  24. Quite the way to show how full of yourself you are. Learn to multi-quote instead of making a zillion posts.
  25. Thank you ! In the end most of the satisfaction will be the looks.
