Punkey's Build Log
Good looking setup so far. I really like the tweeter pods Tint should help hiding the amp. I think it will suffer a bit from heat because it's more exposed to sunlight. Just be careful with it and it should handle it.

1996 Jeep Cherokee
One more thing to do right now is change the head unit. I've got a 9835 waiting to get installed since early December. Bought it just for the fancy screen. The 9813 will stay in storage, it's one piece that I dont want to sell. The sub/amp combo is as good as it gets for my budget. I'd probably have to invest a ton for singnificant improvements. I've been wanting to buy a pair of Peerles 2inch fullranges and a pair of Fostex FF85k to test out but all the time something else comes up

Sub amp installed, time to build a nice cover out of mdf or plywood.

Front Stage Amp
Have you looked at the SAX100.4 from Sundown ? That would be my pick.

Crunch GP3000d Pro vs US amps Xt4000
GP3000 has the same board as the AB200.1, Atomic 3000.1 Really? I had no idea. Mine that I had was wired to 1 ohm nominal and on a burp was at 3.88 reactive. At 3.88 ohms on a drop in voltage to 12.8 volts I was making 1922 watts. That's a ton of power being made at almost 4 ohms. If I could have gotten the reactive down and had less voltage drop it would have easily done it's 3K rating. Eric Alexander is getting something like 4800 out of his GP3000d's at .35 nominal with it rising to 1 ohm on 16 volts. The Atomic has a couple extra caps but it's basically the same thing. 1922watts is really a lot of power at ~4 ohms. To keep it on topic, I vote the Crunch too.

I LOVE my highs......
I like them behind my head t but it has to be clean sound. I hate all the highs in the front it sounds like I really hope you were joking with the last sentence. I will pay you the tickets to go to a concert and face the opposite way to the stage.

Grill is almost done. Just need to attach the cloth a bit better. Didn't turn out exactly as planned but it's function over form once again

I LOVE my highs......
Definately not what I would use in such an install. I want it to sounds decent as well. lol Sounding decent to good and beeing surrounded by speakers rule out each other. Tells us more accurately your actual goal, a budget would help and if you want to go active or passive.

Welcome to the IHoP
x2. Although I listen to music much more in my vehicle then at home, home audio is more enticing to me because you have so much more options as far as enclosure selection, and the environment of your home isn't always changing And you don't have to focus on driving. And there isn't so much noise.

What post? *cough, don't do that again. Yeah, that's why I didn't IMG it, and I put the warning in there And that warning made it less offensive ?

idq10v3 vs ss rl-i10
700w is too much power for the RLi, IMO. For a pair of them it would be perfect.

1996 Jeep Cherokee
Updates : KX400.1 was sold and replaced by a Zapco AG750 (should be well enough power for the RLi at 8 ohms and even for the xxx in case I want to throw it in the car for fun). Mostly likely position for the amp. I'll build a cover out of mdf to hide the sides of the amp and the connections. And a plywood board will go on top of the cover when I carry stuff around. Grill progress : Risers : Risers in place : I managed to weld them in place on the grill, grind down the welds and give it a shot of paint. More pics tomorrow. Now I only need to get some grill cloth and the grill is done.

Corect ! Not sure of what use it could be if you don't test amplifiers...
