  1. Funny stuff, a customer asked me if I remember his install, heck, I can remember parts of the conversation I had with him 4 years ago... And today I couldn't remember where I put my stainless fasteners
  2. I'm really curious on how much I'm going to change the unsprung weight going from drums to discs.
  3. I just found out the brake hoses for the Golf calipers have 1 foot of brake hard line connected to the rubber hose so they are pricey After a bit of searching and it seems 2002 Saab 9-3 rear brake hoses fit the calipers and don't have hard lines. Golf calipers, Mercedes rotors and Saab hoses. Yay for mixing parts and avoiding custom maintenance parts. I can re-drill brake rotors but I can't make a custom brake hoses.
  4. Change the brakes, brake levers and cables on the bike. The upgrades are complete. I finally have great brakes Now to start on the Jeep's brakes. In the meantime I shoved 2 thermal resistors in the intake, before and after the intercooler and I'm going to monitor temps to figure out the intercooler efficiency. Hopefully it's under 200F after the intercooler.
  5. What head unit do you have?
  6. Wheee, good weather for 2 weeks. T-shirt time
  7. Happy Birthday
  8. I'll probably take the MLI's off your hands, since I already have experience with them and know what to expect from them. I just need to organize some time, put together a part/price list for my friend and we'll have to go from there.
  9. Drums are going away to a magical land called scrap pile I can't wait to have a functional handbrake again.
  10. Well, I went for a test drive with the new springs. Apart from a rebound clip hitting the sway bar (fixed the clip with a BFH), it's very good in the bumps. It sits like shit, arched upward on the front side and straight on the rear side but I never bottomed out today. I've never driven it so fast on bumps, with the old springs the rear would bottom out at much slower speeds. I talked to the guy who made the springs, another leaf has to be made and it's either going to replace one existing leaf or an addition. My suspicion is that stepping sucks, that's why the front side is arched inwards and there is a gap between 2 leafs on the rear side. Another leaf would bring my spring rate up, it feels slightly softer than the front spring rate now.
  11. One weird thing that a customer did was to use dash silicone on the port and inside the box. He left my place with 146.8 dB, did a bit of sanding, made the inside of the flares flush with the pipe, silicone'd everything inside and did 147.8 at a competition.
  12. Honestly, in days when the sun is not blaring, I would get results within 0.2dB, full-tilt measurements, at most 5 minutes between measurements. One of my most efficient projects was loudest first burp after the car sat overnight. All others it would be almost 0.5 under.
  13. Repeatability is it's strong point. Although at some point I saw fluctuations in the TL which I did not see on my meter, while keeping the "same" input between measurements.
  14. Pipe flaring tool ordered. Brake hoses for the Golf calipers are next on the list and hopefully no other "major" buy comes up.
  15. Well after reading a bunch I'll just gravity bleed once everything is in place. Going to change the hoses too, 16 year old hoses and fluid...
  16. As part of my rear brake upgrade I want to flush the brake fluid on my Jeep, it has abs and i don't have acces to a scan tool. Do i flush it and bleed it normally and not worry about the fluid left in the abs passages? I don't care for the small amount of old fluid left in the abs pump. I know that if i need to bleed the brakes after working on them i can get away without cycling the abs pump.
  17. Happy Birthday !!!
  18. Holy crap !!! Glad you are ok
  19. I fully agree, been preaching it for years. I hate to read one day when someone gets slammed and a woofer comes loose and decapitates someone. There was a guy here who had the amps on the roof and in an impact an amp almost sliced through the headrest.
  20. Temperature is too low, maybe, summer rubber is not as grippy in cold weather as it is in warm weather.
  21. Moot point honestly, if the wire gets hot enough for extra layers of insulation to hurt, you're having other issues. I personally like welding wire in locations subjected to abuse. It can take a lot of heat and mechanical abuse.
  22. It's actually not kosher up to ask me straight up what size are my flares. Go ask Scott to tell you intricate design details on the N3. If he does, I will tell you exact sizes.
  23. 10 hours of woodworking still haven't calmed me down completely after the $300 waste on custom leaf springs
  24. I still have to build the pocket under the table, to hide the sewing machine, 2 supports for drawers, one on each side of the table and a drawer (one of them was missing for some reason)
