The McGurk Effect
It definitely sounds better to me too, at least imaging is better at night because of the lack of visual cues. "Oh shit, the stage is so high". Just think how much we rely on vision every day. Psychoacoustics / placebo, call it what you want, it's easy to take advantage of it. It's similar to having the seat vibrate slightly and distract your attention, the bass suddenly seems to originate from the back of the car. Or feeling vibration on the floor, there goes your stage height. Or resting your knee on the door and having the door vibrate. I've had experiences with both and actually did experiments with others to see how much they are affected. It's easy to get bored waiting for your car to be judged One time I only had the right tweeter installed and my extra gauges on the left side. An "audiophile" actually looked behind the gauges for the tweeter. I was laughing my ass off at that point but it proved to me that visual cues are a big thing. If I ever decide to go to an SQ competition again, I WILL reinstall my A-pillar tweeters, I have a set of cheap tweeters for that purpose.

The McGurk Effect
Easy to try, take a listen when it's completely dark. I had tweeters in the A-pillar, disconnected, and people always complimented me on how well they sound. All that time the fullranges in the kicks were playing from 250 Hz up.

At least in the radiator department we're covered, the people here build some kick-ass aluminum radiators

Welcome to the IHoP v.2
I need some Energy suspension bump-stops. At least as a band-aid so I won't bottom out on rock-hard, 15 year old bump-stops.

Why the fuck don't we have something like National, Alcan or Deaver locally? Why the fuck can't we have a shop that does custom stuff RIGHT? I'd pay a premium for it, just do it the right. There's a local car brand which has a pickup, absolutely beautifully designed and built leafs: military wrap, nice arch, nice material treatment, overload leafs. But if you want a custom spring from where those are built, NOOOO, I can't get a custom spring.

Welcome to the IHoP v.2
After waiting 4 months for leaf spring liner, I finally did a marathon afternoon and installed my new, custom springs. 2" taller relaxed, supposedly they should settle 1", so in the end 1" taller than stock. A smidge narrower and thinner material. But 5 leafs instead of 4. After 4 hours of work, I jack the rear axle up and the spring keeps bending and bending, eventually arching upwards worse than my old springs. I put the car back on its wheels and I gained less than 1/2" in height. $300 springs down the fucking drain. I want to go over at the guys shop and beat him senseless with the springs. What the fuck is wrong with people? If you make ends meat doing something, do it right. I had to tell him the steps between each leaf. A measly office rat has to tell a small business owner how to do his work right? Fuck this, if I had a furnace I'd build my own fucking springs. If you want something done right, you better do it yourself... And just so it happens I need to carry 400 lbs to the country house tomorrow and I was hoping to not ride on the bumpstops with the new springs. The damn things compressed 1/2" with 170 lbs in the car. Stupid stupid stupid.

Midbass selection
Yes, shallow 10 would be a great idea, any clue on models?
-
Midbass selection
The Exodus seems expensive since I want to put 2 per door.

Midbass selection
GR Research and Exodus. The GR XBL^2 version is pushing the depth but the regular version seems better. And good value apparently.

Midbass selection
I'm looking for midbass speakers for an install. Processing: more than likely a minidsp Power: will be chosen once the midbass is picked out. Midrange speakers: TB W3 or W4, so I imagine 300-400 Hz is the LP for midbass Depth: 3", although I might can stretch it to 4". It's going ON the doors of a Mercedes W124, I'm unsure how much I can cut into the door and go back, so the shallower, the better. Overkill is the main goal here, that's how the owner does everything on the car The midbass will be attached to the door by means of a plywood "box" and vented in the door. High-ish output is desired and this had me thinking about a pair of 6.5-7" midbass / door. The SLS 8 was the first choice but it's way too deep. SLS 6.5 is also stretching the depth. There's a company who builds an XBL^2 midbass, I can't remember the name, IIRC those were not too deep. Hit me with some ideas I've got a pair of Mach 5 MLI's, if I could source another pair it would be stellar.

After 6 years in storage I finally have time to build a new table for grandma's 60 year old sewing machine. I'm going to copy the old table and build it in Baltic Birch:

I got the rotors today and so far so good: clearance from caliper to wheel mounting surface is 1/4", lots of clearance around the axle flange, it even clears the ABS sensor and by my rough fit in the wheel it clears the wheel too. All those late nights spent looking for rotor and caliper combinations seem to have payed off.

Welcome to the IHoP v.2
Oops! I've done the same, and even worse. One time I was assigned to a group for filming a short documentary thing, and I was looking at the previous group's art cover for their film, and I said "Oh yeah we can make one way better than this one," and a girl in our group said "I made that." I felt like thee biggest asshole to walk this earth. Just bringing that up makes me cringe. I have 2 or 3 stories like that, happened way too long ago but I still feel like an asshole for saying what I said.

Welcome to the IHoP v.2
Fuck yes, but I'd just paint it white. It will make a HUGE difference with reflection and make it significantly brighter. Here's the setup...raw lumber, with gaps, on the ceiling. I'd attempt to climb a building before attempting to paint that. For $25 / 5.6 square yards, I'm getting finish like kitchen cabinets made out of particle board, glossy white. I could cover the entire ceiling in an afternoon. I'm pretty much pissed with the light in the garage, it's been like that for a while. Slightly improved when I added a fluorescent lamp over the work table. It was so dark in there I couldn't do anything on the table unless it was bright daylight outside. Enough is enough, I want to organize things, throw out everything I don't need and get some real light in there. The garage where I keep my 6.5" vice is much much better lit, I also spend way more time working there.

Welcome to the IHoP v.2
I'm looking to improve lighting in one of the garages. Currently it has windows above the door, on the entire width of the garage. I'm going to add fluorescent lights on all corners. The ceiling is raw wood, would I gain anything if I covered the ceiling in white, shiny fiberboard?

My Breezer is a 93. Which model are you looking at and what size? I looked online for shits and giggles and found a Jetstream in somebody's photo album, unknown size

Welcome to the IHoP v.2
sup ? Usual, tired of others screw up's, and constantly having to correct it or absorb it. Just went through it with sears and directv. Makes me wonder how such a great country has been over come by imbeciles! Looks like it's full of imbeciles everywhere If people would pay a bit more attention to their job things would go sooo much smoother. I mean a simple email would have saved me the hassle of calling 3 times and delaying some paperwork more than a week. All it takes is to glance over some documents and reply Yay, Nay or Needs this.

Lubed up the rear shifter cable, installed the XT derailleur, shifting sure feels nice now

Welcome to the IHoP v.2
Looking at a Breezer from 1994 I notice the same size headset and same size tubing as mine. I know the material is probably different than mine, but seeing how it looks I should try to have more faith in my bike withstanding off-road abuse.

Welcome to the IHoP v.2
If shipping were free, I'd contemplate shipping you my Breezer. Can't break it. Gotta love Ritchey welded stuff and it's too small for me. You know...I know somebody who can get that shipped to my place for $40, as long as it gets in Michigan...

Fenders are the shit and you NEED a new saddle. My ass hurts looking at yours. New saddle you say... I did notice at some point yesterday that my ass didn't like it.

Day of Testing..
Your gain going from 8" to 10" tube is right in tone with what I saw 1 to 2 extra dB with flares. You need to wire it to 0.5 first and then see what happens. I've ran a single Z1 on 2 crappy starter batteries, both old and whored out and it works great for burps.
