We were out racing one night, this guy hit me up for a race ... I challenged him to a case of beer (thats all I had) ... We knew he was faster than me, and all he (Said) he hda was a hunderd dollar bill ... WTF ... we made the bet, he really wanted to race me ... wouldn't you know it, we raced, he spun out at the start and could not catch me ... I thought, Hell, got me a hunderd dollars ... he was honest, went to pull out the money, and did not have it ... not even 20 dollars ... Things got hectic ... After it was all said and done, he had no choice, give me his car or I take his girlfriend home that night ... guess he cared more about his car than his girlfriend ... lol She was fine too !!! What a night ... I miss being wild a nd single ...

I may be a Cable Guy, but I've worked with my dad in the Auto mechanic / paint and body realm for years ... hell, we got to rebuild the suspension under my truck this weekend ... you can bet I didn't buy used parts for that ... Buying motors out of a junkyard is a chance just like buying a amp from a pawn shop ... not sure if its going to last ten yeras or ten days ... If you are building a hotrod for someone else, that may be fine to you ... but it would suck if the ride was brought back with engine problems (see this all the time in the mechanic world) If you build a hotrod for yourself ... I would bet you would like to know EXACTLY whats under the hood of your ride when you make a challenge for a money race ... or in my case, I only raced for beers, that way (if I lost) i'd still get to drink a few and not be fighting about money ...

guess thats what makes us old hotrodders different now adays ... Back then, we built our own performance ... and you wouldn't even get a good drag race with everyone knowing you just "bought" something and brought it out to the track or late night street track (where ever that might be in the city) ... but yes, those would be some powerful engines ... but changing all the motor mounts and matching up to the older transmissions would be fun ...

The HO 305 in my Camaro was a mean engine ... 305 block bored out 30 over with made it similar to the 327, but in a 4 bolt main ... add the big valved heads, then you got a similar to a mildly built 5.7 350 ... Then start modifing from there ... one mean smallblock !!! Well, that was back then in the early 90s ... I'm sure there are more updates, tricks, and tips one can do to those things these days ... If I ever call it quits on this stereo in my truck, I'd like to tackle that 5.7 vortek 350 in it and just see what we could come up with ...

I live just outside of Jackson ... my parents live in Brookhaven ... Yep, been catfishing a time or two ... hand grabbin a few times ... I mostly go for white perch though too cold to get on the water now though

Want to get started on this this weekend, but too much hlooiday stuff going on ... My wife might get mad, but chances are I will be working on my truck this week end ...

Hmmm ... Engine mounting bolts ??

My Camaro use to break that Transmission crossmember bolt when it shifted into second gear on hard takeoffs ... It would bark second gear just about every time it shifted, but took a toll on that crossmember bolt ... Can't remember what we did to fix it ... Merry Christmas !!!
