I'd say run a single stronger alternator. Try to match one up at a junk yard for a Ford Diesel engine that puts out more than your stock. I know, you have a Mercury, but it's built by Ford.

I would have the transmission fully serviced before making any drastic changes. At least then you will know what you are dealing with.

Get your shop to buy both and try them out yourself. Sell the pair you don't like. Give us a review on what you think about them.

You try making sure it's full of transmission fluid ?? Half a quart low will make one act crazy. Especially if the filter needs to be changed.

I read some where he has something like 10 super tweeters in that set up. Not sure what amplifier power he has on it.
