So I finally went to install the OS, Never even got to POST. Triple checked all connections, tried swapping ram. Finally pulled out the ram causing a problem that the bios should BEEP for, nothing. Figuring motherboard is bad, possibly cpu. Call up Asus after verifying motherboard serial number and cpu, they said the cpu is brand new and the motherboard doesn't support it yet. Have to ship it back and have them flash it I guess. Glad I didn't fuck anything up.

I began to love Linux once I started the job. Pretty much a big learning curve but it's awesome because of the capabilities. Oh yeah you can do anything. When I use to dual boot, I played with fedora, ubuntu, kubuntu, slax, openbsd, opensuse, and a few others I'm forgetting. Openbsd is super robust, secure, and capabilities are endless (assuming you know how to code and use it.) But for everyday internet activities and still being able to zip through commands and use custom apps, ubuntu was sweet. Also loved all the modified themes and additions to gnome.

Haven't installed OS yet, have to wait until the other computer is done, disconnect it, install OS on new computer, then start copying hdds over.
  5. If the installation / system setting is the problem, but not if Bravox had a bad production run of surrounds or of the sort. Not saying that is the case, but it may.

Haha looking at my timestamps in the Ihop, it took me around an hour and a half to build.

Nope. British? With the amount of cone surface he runs, I think I will change it to stefanlownote. Haha haven't heard that yet, just the usual "you can hit a high note?! "

I literally just said "work" so someone wouldn't figure that. Nah, he does commercial, architecture photography, etc. The only program that will be installed on it is Photoshop, that's it.

Speaking of which, I'm building a new rig later today for my father's work.
  12. Curious, were the bravox mounted to the sheet metal or the plastic door panel? If you plan on midbass speakers in your doors, I would build a baffle that mounts to the sheet metal, then make a grill to go over the door panel. Otherwise if it's mounted to the door panel it has almost no rigidity and it could "soak up" the midbass output.

Haven't used linux in years mainly to the fact that I couldn't run photoshop or itunes without dualbooting or virtual machine. Just checked today and it looks like wine has stepped their shit up and several new programs have came out for itunes replacement. Now it's time to consolidate everything important to a new drive and ditch the rest.
  14. In my town we have a street that everybody rides up and down showing off their cars. If I were to run active the only time I would use my rears is when I'm blasting them and showing off. Other than that I know what you mean. Anyway...I'm feeling rebuildy guys. Looks like I have some number crunching to do.

maybe health physics. from talking to some health physics majors at my school, they dont use a lot of "hard math" compared to shit i do (physics major). they do a coop as part of their program so they also avoid a high level physics course like QM, etc. a friend of mine did an internship at Geisinger, treating cancer patients, he enjoyed it but working with terminal cancer patients was, for him, depressing. i also know several people who have done internships at PPL and Exelon Nuclear plants. General consensus was that the Techs get paid to sit around haha. i heard that Exelon has some nice perks like paying for your masters and phd. http://www.hps.org/documents/Salary_Survey_2009.pdf Looks like you can go a lot of different ways there, and making some good money. I'll have to do some more research, thanks for the link.

Career, don't want to manage people. Most of the stuff that interests me now, that I do or am involved with, I don't see doing for a final career. I like working with my hands, but not in the way of doing hard manual labor. Like fabrication would be cool, but depending on what level, it probably wouldn't make a whole lot $$$. I know this is sorta way out there then what I've posted earlier, but pressure welding? I've always liked graphic design / illustration but I've never been a creative enough person, always ended up writing code for the back end instead. When I was younger I was 100% certain I was going into programming/web design/of the sort, but now I somewhat dread that, guess it just depends on how much I'd be stuck behind a computer.

fall back on science-y shit. I still have a year or so until I really need to figure out what I'm going for.

Personally, I don't think that's too bad depending on the circumstances. This is your first year of college isn't it? I hate math but got an easy A in Calc I. This semester I'm taking a 100 level finite mathematics course and am putting 10x the work and still struggling. The professor is really shitty, but I don't think you should let your first college math course be the deciding factor.Maybe I'm wrong. Figured I'd throw it out there anyway I'm not going to just give up, but I don't want to drag myself into a pile of shit for the next few years either. Either way I'm still taking Calc II next semester and going up from there. The teacher I have now sucks as well, everyday I go online and find other lecture notes that just make sense. Circuits.
