Nothings wrong with DD, just not popular here I guess it's the same way if I go over to smd and don't have DC subs, people flip their shit. Basically LOL Ive never seen a site ride one companys nuts so hard. It amazes me. Not saying DC products don't get loud, or have terrible sq, or anything in particular, no need for details. But just the idea of people seeing large builds with lots of power = this product is loud. I want loud. I need that product. It has a big motor. It weighs a lot. It must be loud. It's only rated for 600watts, but it's such a monster driver that it can actually take 2000watts. Everyone else is doing it, I better jump on board. This product is for me! And obviously this could be seen for other companies as well, but damn is it crazy with DC. And if you don't have DC, then fuck you.

When/How do i get this newbie status off? lol
^ It's this Bro Either way, between you and me, fuck the smd forum I got everything I need right here I like looking at some of the big builds on there, but that's about all I can take honestly. I dont even go to other sections anymore. Sorry to get off topic, OP your still a noob. lol Exactly, I just look at some of the big builds and what not. Then decided to post some of my build log for comments, but that was useless. Over 200 views or so and about 5 comments. On the bright side, I got a guy with some volvos that competes and we're talking about his buddies v40 and spl stuff And to the second part,

Ok So I really need some HELP!!
I am not trying to be a dick, But I feel like this could be accomplished better, perhaps with a higher end comp set, and or larger mids. I would wait for someone that really knows what there doing to chime in before you start buying stuff.

I'm not very intellectual or have firm understandings on sound reproduction and speakers like Imp or M5 does. But I can say that mixing that many different drivers couldn't possibly sound good, perhaps if you had ungodly processing and some extraordinaire install. You will end up different drivers overlapping playing the same frequencies, probably having a very non linear response. The tweeters will sound extremely harsh, maybe like bullets? The mids in the rear may be useless since they aren't up front and distanced apart. You would definitely need to go active to try and put this all together. Have fun I think he has the frequency separation part down. I just don't think he has any idea how difficult that really is, and he won't see until he's cut holes for everything, bought everything, so on and so forth. So like I said, to minimize headache, just use less drivers. If he has decent processing then perhaps there won't be any overlapping or dull spots, but different ranges may sound inconsistent. Either way I'm not an expert, but I think it's safe to say that although my terms or claims may not be spot on, this IS heading in the wrong direction.

No need to call names now...im going crazy here at work and thought this post would be funny..wasnt very serious. That I do not...but thanks for the info. I'm only poking fun. I just recently starting being somewhat active on smd, and let me tell you, people treat me like shit. I don't know if it's cause I have a low post count, drive a foreign car, don't act like a complete noob, or because I don't use DC drivers.

stefanhinote's volvo v40 build
I'll keep everyone posted on my results and the other v40s results If I can get them I would love to make the volvo loud enough that people have to bail out. Obviously some people will take more then others, but you get the idea Okay I was just informed that one of the shops here in town has a TL. I actually contacted them a while back and they said they didn't have one, so they have gotten one recently. Contacted them about getting some metering time. I should be able to do more testing with Ken's meter since I won't be on any time crunch, and I'll compare his meter results to the TL.

Whoops, misread the question, no I have not sat in the other v40, it's in the Netherlands

stefanhinote's volvo v40 build
I've been in two vehicles that did 143s on music, my last vehicle and a buddies, my current vehicle is way way louder then both previous. I've also been in Ds gmc with 2 15" aa smds and 7kw. I believe he was doing low 50s. I've also been in Marks rocketship build with the zcons. But both D and Marks vehicles were heard quite a while ago, so I honestly can't say I'm on par, or near par with them. Can't imagine I would be considering the power and cone area they were using. But I do have a meter coming soon and hopefully this will help me do some testing and have a better expectation when I'm on the TL for the next show. Thanks to CrazyKenKid for letting me borrow his meter

Lupo GTI Build Log - Ascendant Audio, SPL Dynamics, XS Power
To be honest, I didn't want to post and interrupt the build log, but I felt that I needed to tell you how wonderful your work was.

stefanhinote's volvo v40 build
I just feel like my vehicle has the potential to be very loud, it's fairly rigid from the factory, fair amount of cabin volume which could be good or bad depending how you see it, it's a wagon / hatch, all rounded over. And I honestly don't know how much power I'm getting out of the saz3000d, I can't imagine I'm getting anywhere near it's full power, so who knows there, only time will tell. But I do know for a fact that there is another volvo v40 with a single 15" firing towards the rear with port up with ~3500watts and it's doing 148s on music at the windshield, not sure if it was sealed up or not. And there switching out the driver and amp soon. So I kinda have a goal that I should be able to beat that score, considering I have virtually the same power and double the cone area.

stefanhinote's volvo v40 build
I fully understand that 145db at 30hz is far different to the ear then 150db at 50hz. The point is, I want to know what numbers I'm doing and at what frequencies. Will knowing these numbers help improve my goal of loudness? No, because I'm not looking for my peak and building a spl box. I just want to know. It won't be for bragging rights, it won't make me feel like it's any louder, it won't even help, but I'd still like to know. If I was competing and this wasn't a daily ground pounder, I would find my peak frequency and tune a few hertz below that and start playing with enclosure volumes until I find a sweet spot. So my options are: more power (least efficient way and costly) different drivers (depending on power usage, mounting depth, motor force, sensitivity, and available funds) different enclosure design (which I have no plans on touching) vehicle bracing. At the moment can't afford new drivers, not sure how much power the xcons can really take. Unless I do some drastic bracing it probably wouldn't be any audible gain. So I'm going to wait until I have the proper electrical to turn up the saz3000d, see how much louder it gets, if the xcons can handle it, and if I'm satisfied.

stefanhinote's volvo v40 build
Because I want to know the number. Am I stuck in high 40s, approaching 150? Not competing seriously, but louder is better. Not doing a spl box, just going for a ground pounder.

New source for batteries.. Save some money
i wonder if my 3500d would be happy with 2 of these's??? Well I can say that I have a shit stock alt, generic starting battery, and a single d1200 in the rear, with a saz3000d. Gain is set relatively low but I can still hammer on it with somewhat decent voltage. If you plan on upgrading alts then between the new alt and two of them, you'd probably be good. (assuming your not playing very long / loud with the car off). If no new h/o alt, then they may not be enough. Do you know what amperage your stock alt can produce? LOL, my bad man.. i was thinkin u were BanginGMC.. i need to stay in one thread Haha, yeah he's bagging and it's a truck, slow to begin with, so weight is like meh whatever.

I'm not bagging shit, I'm ordering eibach springs soon I unfortunately can't fit a d3100 in my cargo area, perhaps if I put it on it's side I could put one behind each fenderwell, but the d1200 fits perfectly. Probably replace starting batt with 3100 though. Between two d1200s on each side and a dc alt, I should have enough power to run a saz3000d or saz4500d
