heh thanks, little by little

Welcome to the IHoP
Not sure if the previous owner knew. They had it for 4 years before me. Since they registered it at the DMV, so they got a clear title w/o knowing it had been salvaged 5 years previously. Now if they had gone to some 3rd party liscense and registration place then they would have found out and had the problem we've having now. Either way, the DMV at some point changed the title to salvage, then clear, and now salvage again.

2006 Jetta Rebuild
I like how the wood looks, although I'm guessing it'll be carpeted or painted lol. Tuned in, always like trunk builds, they present a challenge

Welcome to the IHoP
Well, on the jeep situation. The DMV declared the title salvage. We offered the guy to bring back the jeep on a trailer and if it's in the same condition we'd give him back his money, or he can keep it and we'll give him $1400. Guy knew it wasn't out fault and that the dmv fucked both of us, he said just give me 1000 and we'll call it even. So he's paid and the problems over. Now were filing a claim against the DMV and well see what happens there... At least I can sleep at night now.

stefanhinote's volvo v40 build
Update, currently DC doesn't have a case for my alt, so I'm selling it and I'll get some xs batts in a few weeks. Got the wheels back and windows tinted: Installed alpine cde102, same model I had in the jeep Remote turn on and rcas are ran to the cargo already. Ran some wire from the firewall/engine bay to the passenger seat, still have to run it under all the seats to the cargo area. Got a saz1500d coming next week. Thanks Sean DeYoung. Also have some 5 1/4" hertz coaxial speakers coming for the front doors, nothing fancy. That's it for now

Welcome to the IHoP
Sold it on the 10th of this month. So it's been exactly a week. Thing that ticks me off, if he would have gone to the DMV and not a 3rd party, they never would have checked the film records, he would have gotten a clear title and there wouldn't be any problems...

Welcome to the IHoP
apparently it became salvaged in CA 10 years ago, then somehow it became clear and was sold here in AZ. Now that they checked their old records they have to change it to salvage. DMV just fucked up I guess, and now they don't want to deal with it.

before I ask a shitload of questions is there a search function?
Welcome to the forum, searching will bring up heaps of information, if you don't find what your looking for, post up on the board

Welcome to the IHoP
Supervisor at DMV says once the films come back and it turns out to be salvage then the problem will be between the guy and us... Doubt I could sue and win, either way such a pain in the ass Would there be a tax deduction for the deprecated value due to this mistake? Doesn't seem so, DMV doesn't acknowledge any wrong doing on their part. Doesnt AZ have a statue of limitations on that kind of shit? I mean 2 years is fuckin rediculous. What year make and model is the car? J The salvage title was from 10 years ago. I owned and drove the vehicle for 2years with a clear title. 1997 jeep wrangler.

Welcome to the IHoP
How about this. Bought a vehicle with a Clear title, drove it for 2years. Sold it with a Clear title. Guy who bought it tries to use a 3rd party to register title instead of DMV. 3rd party states the title is "salvage" according to carfax. The guy contacts DMV about it, they check their records and say it's clear. He keeps pushing them for more info, so they do a national scan and "check film" and say the vehicle became a salvage title 10 years ago and then somehow became clear again. So now, instead of getting a clear title and walking away, the dmv has to deem it salvage. So now he doesn't want it anymore, wants to return it to me for full refund. So now I'll have a salvage title and have to resell it for half the price because the DMV fucked something up 10 years ago... If I would have known it was salvage, I never would have bought the shit to begin with.

Where to put subs? What would u do?
Keep in mind there is more to it than THD. A shift in Bl and/or Cms will also affect the parameters of the driver, which will in turn affect the response of the driver. Some people consider a linear design that decreases the parameter shift more important in subwoofers than the distortion lowering mechanisms involved as we are less sensitive to distortion in this bandwidth. A properly handled inductance is likewise important for reasons other than distortion, as an improperly treated inductance can likewise affect or limit response within the intended/necessary bandwidth. I'm sure you already know all of this, and probably more than myself in regards to driver design. There's much more to the discussion but that really isn't pertinent. My simple point is that I think it's wrong to focus the discussion solely in terms of THD. That said it doesn't necessarily take an "exotic" motor design to achieve these goals. For example, companies such as Peerless and Scanspeak have consistently built high performance drivers without much in the way of "exotic" motor designs. A well executed standard motor topology can be designed to be more than sufficient at supporting a high performance loudspeaker. And while peerless makes great subs and all, its still proven that they are not as well designed as a sub featuring a flat bl curve. However, they do use shorting rings, and pole extenders to lower and linearize inductance. Where are these designs in subs that claim to be SQ like the FI Q? They are non existent. Yet 90% of any car audio forum will sit there and defend it and say its a GREAT SQ sub. While it does sound solid, it lacks anything special enough to be considered a SQ sub imho. Each to their own, honestly it sounds like you know everything already and don't need our opinions for your sub choice.

And it bothers me none. Just means she's already been broken in a little bit and rides even better than straight from the factory. J Talking about the car or the girl?

Welcome to the IHoP
I'm going fucking nuts. Trying to check the status of threads, checking pms, waiting for responses, and number crunching... Car I bought, supposedly the last owner just had the timing belt changed (80k miles), but not sure if they did the tensioner... I called every dealership in the city and had them check their records from the vin and couldn't find anything. So no choice but to go ahead and get it done, timing belt, tensioner, water pump, seals, $650 at revolvstore. gah, I feel like an addict, just wanting some bass back into my life... wtf, rehab for bass. <-= fail. grr, shit. :suicide-santa: :suicide-santa: :suicide-santa: :suicide-santa:

12 187 15's in a Plymouth Voyager
Imagine the cabin having a volume of say 200cubes. Then that enclosure takes up 50cubes. you now have 150cubes to pressurize. VS. 200cubes, walled setup/enclosure, everything from driver & passenger seats forward to pressurize, say 40cubes. The smaller the area being pressurized, more cabin gain, more output. Imagine playing a 10" subwoofer in your house vs your car...

Why should they be walled? I'm just curious here. What would he gain from going subs up/port back like it is now, to going to a wall? Kef It's a giant long box upfiring, so the space above the box is useless, it can't be used for storage or anything, its just more cabin that needs to be pressurized. So if you walled it off, that area would be used for the enclosure and the overall cabin would become smaller, therefore it would be a lot easier to pressurize and get louder, and you wouldn't lose or gain any storage space. Stefanhinote, your a mind reader! shh,

2x18" AA SMD vs 4pcs 15" fi BTL ufo
Cone area doesn't affect SQ. 15s, 18s, etc, all in the same driver line will sound the same, just have different amounts of output.

You have PM :)
sent you a PM regarding my box. Good news
