  1. true, very true, haha it's just that the icon and the Q are very similar, 1.2 cubes is the opt. box size for the Q haha but you think the icon is better? I'm sure both or any of these three will be equally awesome, it's just hard to decide. So did they redesign the icon lately or something? because there are pictures that make it look like the Xcon and pics of it that look like the Dcon
  2. Adding to the uncertainty ... hmm haha
  3. Yea that's another option, and it's specs are very similar to the fi q hmm... but when it says it can be put in a 1cu.ft. and then a 1.35 cu. ft. opt. it just means that's the measurement it performs best in?
  4. The reason these are my two options is because I want a sub that requires a relatively small ported enclosure that will still perform greatly. I was set on a 10 in. Fi q because it is a high perfoming subwoofer with great sound quality that requires a pretty small ported enclosure. Then, the SA-12 was brought to my attention as another great sub that can be put in a smaller box than the Q, while also being cheaper, and similar in performance. IMO, I think the Q looks a little bit cooler, and I like the customizations you can have done to your woofer aswell as the great rep FI has recieved, but is it worth the extra money compared to the sa-12? If you guys have other subs in mind that can compete with these (in terms of a small box yet great sound), by all means let me know
  5. (Amp situation will be a Sax-1200d)
  6. Ok so i have an acura rsx and i'm looking to have a ported box that's about 1.2 cubic feet or less to go in the trunk with the sub facing up and the port firing at the hatch/trunk. From what i hear, the SA-12 can be put in a smaller box than the Q; however, would it get as low? or have the same Sound Quality (although i know sq isn't really what subs, especially poerted ones, are for) The Sa-12 is cheaper (about $45-55 less) than the Q, and this money could go towards sound deadening or other things also. Help me choose Please! haha If more information needs to be given lemme know
  7. ok hows this sound for a ported box? 1.2 cubes AFTER displacements tuned to 32hz, sub up, and port foward firing toward the hatch. sub displacement is .12, and 16 square inches of port area per cubic feet.
  8. MMyess this was on hold before because i didn't really have enough money for real nice comps, but now that i've got a job i should be good to go. Right now i have polk speakers which i'm sure aren't the best, but they would do for a while. I planned on buying either some Bravox 6.5" speakers and tweeters from here, or phoenix gold (something under $300). I'm probly gonna only do the front speakers/ tweeters and ditch the rear speakers btw.
  9. o also is wood the best material for sound quality or is fiberglass just as good? Cuz i kno you can make crazy boxes with fiberglass
  10. Alright thanks guys that's what i thought before. Yea i think i'll take sir-lancelot's advice for now and go for the sealed box since it'll be a little smaller, cheaper, and easier to make. Also I'm sure it'll be more than enough since the stock 6in. woofer already sounds ok. Thanks again for all the help hopefully i'll get this project started this summer and put up sum serious pics for everyone.
  11. yea thats wat i figured I'd do for my little RSX (hatchback) where there's nothin separating the seat from the woofer. But for some reason a guy said a 10" Q doesn't do so hot sealed so i was curious if he's just a bass head and loves ported boxes or if he's telling the truth.
  12. Well i was kinda leaning towards a sealed box because i like sound quaality, but then i was told that a 10in. Q does better vented. All i've ever really heard has been vented woofers so i don't really kno how much different they make the sub sound compared to a sealed sub.
  13. Honestly in your experiences does the FI Q work/sound better in a sealed or vented enclosure? and does this seem to change with size? (ex. a 10in Q sounds better vented while a 12in. Q sounds better in a sealed box) Just wandering what everyone's opinion is
  14. 1, 3, 5, and 7 all the odd ones haha
  15. Ok i realized i was getting awayy from the important stuff. So, I don't plan on building this system myself simply because this is my first system and i have neither the tools nor the experience. Also, i dont really trust the installers with supplying me a good quality amp istallation kit. I looked at knukoncepts but, once again, i don't know exactly what i need for two amps powering 7 total speakers. I thought 4 gauge would be enough for this smaller system, so i had this planned out: 4 Gauge Amplifier Installation Kit and 4 Gauge Amplifier Installation Kit Help?
  16. Woohoo Summaville SC right hur i'm bout to put an fi q in my rsx but i think i'm doin 1 10 cuz its such a small car and a hatchback haha, but lemme kno how u do this thing. I'm kinda stuck on how i should upgrade my electrical when i buy the Q, a 4 chan. amp, and a mono amp. Or atleast what kit to buy haha
  17. You guys have any pics of ur setups? Or have a show off thread ur in? haha. I'm tryin to get an idea of what should go where. I like this idea for the Q it kinda flows well in the car Sorry for the HUGE pic haha
  18. And thanks everyone for welcoming me here so readily haha, and for the fast responses u guys r da bomb
  19. Thanks haha yea that's how i thought amps worked for a while until i looked at how the speakers were laid out in my manual lol. But yea i was told in another forum to just buy nice front comps and screw the rear speakers, (cuz apparently they only ruin sound quality) so i guess eventually a 4 channel amp could still do that?
  20. haha yea i feel yea charleston's pretty cool, but drivin around there kinda sucks. I live maybe 30 mins from it, but i go there all the time. Ok so what would u guys suggest for the electrical? Big 3 all that jazz?
  21. haha i think i just read a post on another page about running active last night, but i can't remember where it was. That's like running 1 amp to each speaker or something? I kind of remember it was something i was most likely not going to do haha
  22. Haha sorry i knew that would be confusing. Basically i can't decide if i want this : (sundown mono SAZ 1000d= $315) + ( discuss 4 chan, DSC480 = $140) = $455 ( DSC480 - MB Quart 4 Ch 640 Watt Amplifier ) Or this: (Discuss mono DSC1000.1= $180) + (Sundown 4 chan. SAX-100.4. = $365) = $545 O and i've been to Florence many times, ver nice My dad works up there all the time
  23. Yo i'm a lil' southern boy from charleston SC haha and i was lookin for some help on my system setup. What i have planned so far is a 10" 2 ohm FI Q for my acura rsx. (It's a hatchback and there's nothing between the seats and the trunk) I already have some polk component speakers which will do for now. For the amp situation i was thinkin either a dsc1000.1 ( DSC1000.1 - MB Quart 1 Ch 1000 Watt Amplifier ) for the "Q" and a 4 channel discuss amp for the tweeters and front speakers, or 1 discuss amp, and a sundown audio amp wherever it would be better suited (4 chan. or mono) Sorry if that made no sense. My music prefernce is pretty broad, but i like rap and alot of techno haha sometimes rock too. my price range is somewhere from $600 / $800. Suggestions? O yea goin for sound quality so a sealed box is what im thinking for the Q somewhere close to .6 cubic ft. or a lil more
  24. YOO Wattap from Summervile, SC?! I'm new here too, but i'm gonna be gettin an fi q i guess this week. I can't really decide between 1 10 or 1 12 in my acura rsx sq wise, but anyway wat r u drivin? GO COCKS yeeaaa
  25. Yo i've been lookin to buy a q for my acura rsx, its a hatchback and its perty small. You guys think 1 10in q would be enough to sound great while getting loud in this car? I feel like a 12" would be a lot of woofer.
