  1. Looks like this ones going back , great customer service though. Should be another fast turn around
  2. happy Bday!
  3. Just pay a shop, you may not be quite smart enough to figure this out with the instructions given. lol
  4. Thursday it will be finished and maybe get some more vids
  5. First hair trick with the sp4's. My wife could care less about audio and I finally talked her into hearing what I have been working on. lol Voltage is on the low side and when I get the other batteries in I can turn her up some but the SP4's are very impressive and much louder than my Q 18's.
  6. Yeah, it's bolted to the back wall. It's scary to think that is behind me, lol. I'm gonna weigh the truck and see where she stands. I'm guessing 8500lbs
  7. Finally making some progress. Box going back in was hell, had to take off the leather beauty panel cause we ripped it and I redid it, no biggie. Box is massive In and ready Went ahead and deadened all doors but only took a pic of this one. After lots of brain storming and not wanting to start on fiberglassing doors and realizing how huge those Crescendo 8's are I decided to pick up some Rockford Forsgate Punch Pro Audio 6.5's for the stock location. Also mounted the Ft1's off axis on doors near the mids. The mids are very nice and loud. After getting in all in and alot of EQ'ing running active I have to say that it sounds awesome. Its not perfect but it will suffice until I decide how I want to do door panels. I think I will sell the Crescendo 8's and buy another set of the Rockford pro audio mids, The are expensive but are very shallow and very well built. anyway here are a couple pics I have the final 2 d3400's coming this week and I will be done fooling with this shit for a minute. Right now it is brutally loud and without the worry of voltage I will be happy. Maybe I can get it metered soon. It shouldnt have a problem going 152's I would think. For a box tuned low at 30 it slams
  8. How the hell is anyone suppose to answer that question? Its all about the install, Any answer is a complete guess and nothing else.
  9. You base your sub selection on what kind of help complete strangers are gonna give you on a public web site, Jesus dude lighten up and quit being a little whiny bitch. SSA subs are some of the best you can buy period! If you want opinions from the SSA staff then email SSA and ask them, this is a public forum and 99% of the people on h ere are enthusiasts just like you.
  10. Ok, carry on lol
  11. So what exactly do you have? One thread you said you have SA subs and this one L7's and one a Hifonics amp, this one a planet audio and in your profile you say something else? Do you actually have anything, Pics of system or pics of both systems?
  12. Sell that amp and buy a 1ohm stable amp, and build another box. That would be your best bet. No since selling those subs to buy Dcons, Honestly you will probably be louder with the L7's. Look at the Hifonics BRZ-2100 or BRZ-1700 would be your most economical approach. I will assume they are dual 4's
  13. swift replied to ricksi30's topic in Build Logs
Sorry about your luck man. Hope you get this going soon. I like the comp set!
  14. haha Cant wait till my other batteries are here and doors done, then I'll turn that gain knob up a hair.
  15. I thought white smoke could be from either water or fuel. Excess fuel that wasn't fully burned off when shut down. Once it's started later, it's not fully warmed up, so that excess fuel is only partially burned. Black smoke is excess fuel.
  16. He says head gasket, when it warms up it expands and stops smoking. He sai white smoke is water and if you check coolant levels everyday you probably will se your looking alittle as time goes
  17. Xcons or FI Q's would be my choice for that goal. A Crescendo 3500 will be plenty for either of those and get stupid loud. Trust me
  18. Well, the Sp4's are just plain brutal!!! The enclosure seems perfect for them at 14cu tuned at 31hz. I still need to get my mids and highs in, running the head unit on standard mode with the rockford components with one blown tweeter just to make sure everything was hooked up correctly. Sounds like ass. Gonna try to get the doors done this weekend. Gonna run active 2 way with the 8's and FT1 super tweeters, after listening to them eq'd sitting on my dash I can live with it.
  19. Nice, a guy at work has one but a 96 I believe, his smokes on start up also, blows alot of black smoke when in throttle with low boost and runs hot alot. I will ask him what he thinks it is. But with all that his truck still puts in work everyday pulling my 24ft enclosed
  20. Hmm, good thinking. Since my rebuild my idle may be a hair lower than it was before. I will go into my tuner and raise it 100rpm and see I that helps. My truck sits low at maybe 650-700. That may be the whole issue.... I just ordered two more D3400's today so I will have a total of 4 of them. I will have plenty of battery power that's for sure.
  21. Well, I guess I spoke too soon, when cold voltage is good but after the truck heats up it is dropping back to 13.2 at a red light or idle. Considering my stock alt will hold at 13.7-13.8 in the heat I think I'm gonna have to call Mechman and see what they think.
  22. I wanted to say Thanks to Mark and LaFountain Designs for the hard work and awesome website he designed and did for me. We had a nice site for the last 4 years through someone else and wanted a change. Figured it was a good opportunity to work with Mark and since SSA and his other sites are so nice I knew I wanted to go this route. If anyone has a business and wants a new look definitely give LaFountain Designs a shot. Here is my site http://zoom-moving.com/
  23. I'm sorry but its NOT, plain and simple. All that is is simply putting it in a box. Zero protection. I paid 800 bucks for my 2 Q 18's and both boxes looked like that with one large chip out if the magnet. Not acceptable for the money spent.
  24. OK, Looks like it was the batteries. Truck sits back at 13.8-14.1 at idle like it should now. I am super glad its not the alt but now I have to go spend yet more money on another 1 or 2 batteries for the rear. Thats very strange because both Optimas were sitting at 12.65 still this morning. I hate that I jumped the gun and was thinking it was the alt. But after all the trouble I have been through I just figured that would be my luck. Thanks for the help!
  25. Ok just went out and put in the two new D3400's, both sitting at 12.95. Well shall see tomorrow, I sure hope it was the Optimas going out.
