  1. Agreed. I've seen friends run the AQ monster's just fine. Thing is, I've indebted myself to the idea of running my subs off 1 amp (underpowered originally) or running 2 amplifiers (these JL's) ... so they are actually not setup for a 1ohm load. Which is why I didn't suggest AQ but instead, RF because of this setup they have that's just like the JL amplifiers. Maybe I will just run the 2 huge amps and stay happy with that ...
  2. That much power, you don't think I'd be? Hahaha Yeah, it's ported. I just went for 10's just because ... I listen to a lot of different music, wanted to hear it on 10's for a change. That's all. Ported. A big friggin' port.
  3. I always hate these "either-or" scenarios but I'd like some ideas for 2,000 to just below 3,000rms. I'd like to run 2 10" SSA ICON's which run at 1250rms a piece ... The amplifier needs to run at 1ohm or above, not below. I have 2 JL 1000/1's I can run. Takes up a lot of room to run 2 but I know it will be stable power at 2,000rms. 100A Fuse Per Amplifier. To make things look nice, I'm considering selling the 2 amplifiers to buy a Rockford T2500-1bdCP - 2,500rms. 300A Fuse I just want someone to agree with me and say yes, you're nuts and go for it. OR Someone to say "No, don't do that, you have amazing amps already, RF is downgrading" etc etc ... It's hard to find this information online when you're not comparing 2 equals ... I'm looking at stats and specs like a deer in the headlights so ... a little help is appreciated.
  4. I like the comments about the thickness of the enclosure and trying to build it in a way that the subs and equipment are accessible. I don't plan on switching the subs out but once I have this setup in, who knows. Thanks for the tips thus far.
  5. You can get used Kicker equipment dirt cheap. I've bought and sold a lot of my Kicker stuff that has big numbers. $100 might even get you a 400-600rms sub, if it's used and off the online classifieds. Someone in the forum has a new SSA sub for $100 shipped, that seems like a fair price. 300rms.
  6. Depends on the response you want. For sealed applications, I think you might want it facing forward for the tighter, more controlled response. But for "Loud" or SPL numbers, I've always seen them firing back in a hatch. Just makes more sense to utilize all the space back there and bounce it to the front ... I'm no expert though, wait for some more replies lol
  7. I use to notice this a lot in my smaller, 2-Door Olds Alero. Roll down the windows and wham, it'd get louder. I'm not noticing it as much now in a larger, 4-Door Chev Impala ... it's probably still there though.
  8. I'm thinking about getting a professional shop to design and install a setup of 2 10" Icon's for me. Reason being is that it's going into a trunk (not a show car) and I want it to be practical (able to put THINGS in the trunk again) rather than having a simple carpeted box ... I want it to look good! I'm thinking about firing in (seats can fold down), sealed off, all carpet ... They talked about covering the amplifiers ... covering my battery in the trunk ... But if I'm paying a shop, what are some options that I should inquire about? Removable plates ... Plexiglass ... Company Logos on the inside deck lid ... stealth on both sides of the trunk ... lighting ... I don't want to break the bank, it's bad enough I'm already thinking about going through with this but ... just want some ideas before I decide to throw down the $$$ Thanks guys.
  9. My coolest car audio t-shirts are "classic" looking but also show that you're an enthusiast with some sort of cool saying or image ... I think this design fits both of those criteria. Personally, I'd be buying the white on black before anything else, but all 3 are cool. Black, Blue, Purple (that order). May or may not put more on the back, I like that the front has a lot going on. It's MUCH better than just a plain black shirt that says "SSA" or something bland like that (think very small logo, like Nike).
  10. But if the setup is made for 2 amps (2 terminal cups) and I have it hooked up / wired on the outside to run 1 big amp, does this have any effect / are there any issues with this?
  11. To be honest, I didn't even consider that factor ... That should be in another thread lol
  12. But if I'm paying someone to make a box professionally, I want it to look nice and have all the fixings. So, it's going to have a nice terminal cup that I can use, rather than just running it out the box that I might do on my own (and have in previous installs). So, still back to square one lol
  13. I'm considering getting a box built for 2 10" subs (or at least a box will be made for the subs). I'm wondering if there are any problems with putting in 2 terminal cups / 2 leads. Reason being is I'm running 1k right now. I might want to run 2 amps at 1k a piece. OR, I might just change my mind and run one big amp. If the box is made with 2 leads, then I will never have any issues but if it's made with just the one, I can never use 2 amps. So, are there any issues down the road? In particular, one big amp across two terminal cups? Without the issue of it changing final ohm loads of course (non issue).
  14. That's the thing. I'm not complaining. Wow. Ok, moving on.
  15. Excuse me? All I'm suggesting is to reach even more people, since they're considering doing this type of promotion again, they should send out a notice a few days, maybe even a week in advance on the site home page / newsletter subscriber base to really hype up the event and get people excited. You may be a forum faithful and you may want to keep these deals for yourself, but there's also a business side / product exposure that can be gained from this but hey, maybe you just don't get that. Oh and by the way, I've been watching the deals since Friday, so just like you I haven't missed a thing. I think they've been outstanding, especially the "Outrageous" deals that a few members have been able to catch. Unheard of. Thanks for your input!
  16. Great idea on having it as a recurring event ... However, I received notice of the sale after the event had happened. So for instance this past Sunday's, I received an e-mail / newletter about it when it had already past. So unless you were actively in the forums and in the section, I don't think many knew about it. Or shall I say, AS MANY. Anyways, just giving the heads up to your newsletter subscribers would be great, probably just a time / server issue, I understand.
  17. Monday at midnight? I'm literally dreaming up a project over a weekend, so it keeps changing by the minute. Just want to make sure I don't squeeze myself out of time. Just wanted to be 100% sure lol
