  1. Cool, thanks man. there will be no fiberglass going in this box.
  2. j-roadtatts, no harm no foul brother. i probaly will not glass the inside of the box if there is no gain to it in strength or sound.
  3. yeah i did read that part. i guess my curiosity is on the fact that the statement made was it could make the enclousure weaker. was this a generalized statement encompassing the sound quality or was there some sort of scientific reasoning to this strength issue, I probally won't do it now but i am curious as to why it is so.
  4. already got the 45s in place. I was just wondering if putting resin in the box would help smooth the transitions out and make the box stronger, but i had read it makes it weaker. just wondering, i appreciate the input.
  5. appreciate that, but about halfway down page 2 it starts to ramble on about his port area and shape choices. it just barely touched on the making it weaker and didn't give a reason why. and if the noise difference is inaudible there wouldn't be a half reason why not to do it right? so if it becomes a mirror to sound waves that is what affects the quality of the sound right?
  6. So I have searched a little and really haven't found out much info. I read somewhere that fiberglassing the inside of your enclosure makes it weak. why is this, is it because of the heat and chemicals released during drying and curing? Is it really necessary for a box that will only see a occasional romp on a lane? Please discuss.
  7. stuffing on a ported box? I had built a box that was 4 exactly but when i measured the trunk i didn't measure the opening. there was plenty of room if the box could have gotten into the trunk but it was too tall and wide to get thru the opening of a lancer. so i rebuilt this new box fits in the trunk and will allow me to have a decent looking amp rack. I wish i could have put the bigger box in i even considered taking it apart and putting it in in halves but decided that was more work that it was worth. but 3.6 after all displacement will be fine right? no issues with the tune?
  8. I don't see it either, but I think its my work's network.
  9. You don't value your hearing much do you? Wait a minute I don't think anyone on this forum values there hearing.
  10. Bud I don't think you can get anymore generic on a thread than that. we need alot more information than that.
  11. a MTX Thunder Elite 1501, which tested put out 1677 watts @ 1ohm with 14.4 volts.
  12. Just throwing this out there, Bromo and myself have been working on this. He says go bigger and I agree but can't do to space constraints. The box for this XCON 15 will have a volume of 3.6 after sub and bracing displacemnt tuned to 33 hz. I listen to hip hop, bass music and just about everything else. Is this box going to hurt the potential of the XCON? Is it to small. Is the tune going to seriously affect the type of music I listen to? Bromo has been a huge help as well as Alton, but I am wanting some other opinions now. Thanks
  13. see now thats more like the answers i was looking for. thanks
  14. im am still not getting a reason why not to do it? what is the technical reason?
  15. is it the sensitivity that would cause problems cause im not looking to get a huge output or even a award winning sound, i just have three 12's hanging out and some left over mdf
  16. I have two ol'skool fosgate 8 ohm 12's and one mtx terminator 12. I know craptastic, its stuff i have left over from years of being a packrat. I wanna put them under the seat in my titan. I can get a box that upon completion and displacement will be about 1.2 sealed. If i install all three of these subs in this box undivided will they fight each other or cause cancelations? I can't get enough airspace to divide the box up. I don't even know if this is making any sense.
  17. Hey and welcome! I used to live in War Town and my family still does.
  18. yeah that one is pretty close to the one i found a couple years ago but it was on bcae or the12volt at one time and there was a link to it on this site at one time as well.
  19. that graph will work. and i already have checked out the thread on setting gains. i just wanted to bookmark the calc i was talking about but thanks anyways.
  20. Pretty much same process I would assume but where you used roll on paint I will be using automotive grade stuff from HOK
  21. thats really it though just scuff it with some paper and then hit it with sealer primer? hmmm this may be easier than i thought, i will probally counter sink the screws then fill with resin sand and seal. hmmmm interesting. thanks sir lancelot
  22. Hey guys have seen alot of painted boxes and for the build I'm doing I wanna go with a House of Kolors blue on the box. What kind of prep work is involved in setting up mdf to be painted? Is it neccessary to resin the whole outside of the box or will a high build primer work on mdf? thanks.
  23. At one point in time there was a link to a calculator someone had made to just plug in your rms and impedance and get what the voltage ac you should see when setting the gain on your amp. anybody know where that is i wanna bookmark it to my computer. and yes i have already read the sticky on how to set gain. im just trying to get this as a bookmark. thanks
  24. Well on a side note the mtc thunder elite 1501d has a dedicated spot to hook up a cap, I have a optima yellow top a 180 amp excessive alt and upgraded big 3 with 1/0 ga
