  1. I found a deal on a 12" TREO SSX and to be honest the best system I've ever heard was a TREO sub, which model I'm not sure. I was looking at 2 AA Avalanche 15's (old model) and I know that would pound and sound amazing, only problem is they are both dual 2 ohm and not only that the box would be much bigger. With the SSX recommending 2.25 cu ft tuned to 31.8hz would it do well playing low? Obviously it wouldnt be 2 AA avalanche 15's but what kind of performance could I expect from a 12 of this caliber? I'm gettin excited here Can't wait till I finally decide on something.
  2. Tuning low is not good for every application.. for daily 45hz is high, but some driver do tune in the 36-40hz for daily. Of course, but for a quality ""SQL"" application 36-40hz tuning is missing out on the lows. I'm going for a pure mix of ""SQL"" maybe a leaning towards output as long as it gets low.
  3. Any idea if the RD 1000.1D can do it? If that's the case I'd be in good shape would just have to grab another one. If anyone knows of any good amps that are linkable let me know. Edit: Answered my own question the amp I have DOES have that capability which is awesome. Looks like I would just need another RD 1000.1D, if I were to go with the Avalanches. Anyone got any info on how EXACTLY to do this? I see you chain the amps through the rca's in turn sending the exact same signal to both, but what about power etc? Also, I imagine setting the gains perfectly to match would be difficult? What of all the options on the amps?
  4. Dude, just get an amp that is .5 ohm stable or get two smaller amps that are 1 ohm stable and preferably daisy chainable. Don't have the electrical atm to support .5 ohms really. And how would I go about using 2 amps? Never researched into it I've only ever used one amp.
  5. Amps that put out 2000 watts at 2 ohms are pretty damn expensive...Wish they were both dual 4 ohm. Asked if I could get one he said if someone else wants just one he'd work something out. How much louder would one get than my 15" Q?
  6. Found a deal for 2 great condition AA Avalanche 15's with the xbl^2 technology motors. Both for $500 plus shipping. Sound like a deal or what? I was planning on using my 15" Q for a budget setup but from what I know about the old avalanches I want them so bad...even though I'd have to get a better amp, bigger box and upgrade my electrical I can just imagine how worth it it would be. Ideas? Btw they are both dual 2 ohm subs so I'd be looking at what options as far as amp load and such? And by that I mean that I know what loads are possible but what could be the best way to go about it?
  7. What I'm really leaning towards honestly. Doesn't hurt to shoot around ideas while I'm sitting here bored without being able to do anything though.
  8. Yeah I finally got a response from Fi saying the same thing. Too bad I think two Q's would be awesome, assuming I could some way come up with the funds and upgrade my electrical for the first time ever..... I wish I wouldn't have made the mistake of ordering a dual 4 ohm version of the SX because I want to put that in sooo bad now. I know it would be ideal if I were to get my hands on another SX and just wait but that could be months, maybe a year and I have patience but I've also been in military basic training and tech school for 5 months now and I want some bass when I get out. Any ideas on what I could do? As far as I know I'm not going to be able to change the voice coils on the sub. Maybe if I ask RE they could do something.
  9. 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee. 40 1/2 inches from wheel well to wheel well 33 1/2 inches from seats to trunk hatch and I'd prefer it was less than 17 inches high. Thanks man lookin forward to hearin from ya.
  10. Damn. I'm going to have to put this on hold for now. $280 might be just outside my price range atm. Thanks for the response though man. I'll let you know for sure.
  11. Trying to get a quality box for the first time in my short audio career. Going to be for my 15" Fi Q. 4.18 cu ft tuned to 32 hz. Double baffle w/ flush mount and carpet in black. Need it shipped to 32578 and would appreciate a quote on the shipping. Wish you weren't so far away! Thanks for the response I'll check to see what's up tomorrow. Thanks man. Edit: Also, I'll be moving from that zip code in a little under a month to Goldsboro, NC. Just thought I'd mention in case it is going to take that long?
  12. Rightttt I'd be happy to give my little miniature king kong away. Actually my Q has been the best sub I personally have ever owned, but I did notice that even the SX I bought and tested at 600 watts sounded louder at frequencies right above the lower notes. I'd use the SX!!! but.....its dual 4 ohm and I would need to get another amp? I'm using a RD 1000.1D doing 1000 @ 1 ohm. If there was a way to change the voice coils I'd just do that but I'm assuming I'm screwed. A thought I've been contemplating is just saving up for either another SX and then being able to wire it appropriately or possibly another Q at dual 2? The thing with the Q is... is that mine is a 2009 model with no options and they JUST came out with the 2010 versions....are they compatible still? I've e-mailed Fi twice and only recieved a response giving me 2 options about an order complication which I don't have... AHHH! Lol what to what to do. I do like the idea of just porting my Q and seeing what happens, but then again if I'm going to spend the money on a custom box I'm thinking I might play it safe and get something with more output anway know what I mean?
  13. To be completely honest if I could get a response from one of the hosted box designers I'd be more than happy to purchase a custom made box that I would have no question about. I've had my experience with a pre-fab ported box tuned to 45 hz and I was not happy. Was my first box though and I didn't know the importance of tuning low. Thanks for the input though. Like I said if I could ever get a hold of someone I'd be buying one asap but hopefully I don't get impatient lol.
  14. Planning on putting either the 15" Fi Q I already have or getting a 15" BL in my Jeep Grand Cherokee. Both would be in a ported box to specs. I've read hundreds of user reviews and have a good idea of what both can do. The Q I've only heard in a sealed box with around 1.8 cu ft at the most. Would it honestly be worth it to go through the process of selling my Q and getting a BL? Looking for ""SQL"" and basically if the BL isn't going to be noticably louder considering the Q will play lower I'm going to stick with the Q. But idk what would you do? I definately want output while mainting decent sound, playing low etc.
  15. I'm well aware of the complexity (or so it might seem for some) involved in creating a ported enclosure built to specs. I'm also aware of situations where different subs have been dropped right in to a ported box previously housing another sub and working well. With that being the case I was wondering how bad a prefab box like this one I stumbled across on ebay could possibly be. I'm absolutely prepaired to pay for a properly made custom box but was just curious a) if anyones had any experience and b) if this is just a COMPLETELY bad idea. Heres the link to a prefab 4 cu ft ported box tuned to 32 hz (almost exactly what I'd be getting custom made): 15" CUSTOM-PORTED MDF SUB ENCLOSURE BOX 4.0 ft^3 @ 32Hz - eBay (item 170456593834 end time Apr-07-10 19:39:35 PDT) Edit: The sub I'm currently trying to find a box for is a 15" Fi Q
  16. Yea man nice system. Welcome to you and me x2.
