haha found some T/S for the jackhammer
I see you got my exact point.

haha found some T/S for the jackhammer
Wow Based on those measurements, the 12 and 15" XXX should be good contenders for the current RL-s. The motor force and sensitivity is about the same and both have linear(ish) motors.

Tell me that is that NOT the new $2300 RE 18" XXX???

Looks very handsome. is that dual 1" x 6.125" mags?

I don't know what VC the mag has nor have i heard or tested the new ones, so i can't say anything for cretin. I can make comments based off pictures and what I know from the parts that are obvious but that is hearsay.

The 5100 would be better with limited power. The 5100 can still move 2.5 to 3" peak to peak, more than most drivers, but its limit will show before the LMS-5400 or TC-5200 because its a smaller under hung coil with less x-max. However, the PA-5100 is about 5-6dB more efficient than the LMS-5400. For pure SPL it may not be a bad idea after all. Cars are very limited by power and secondly, power compression from amplifiers is a huge factor when you start talking about thousands of watts. You probably here about cars that have 10,000 watts.. even 100,000 or 200,000 watts absolute complete bullchit... These amps are constant voltage amps and when the voice coil heats up more and more, the voltage stays the same and the resistance rises... well it doest take a genius to guess the power will not rise... if you can use a driver that doest need as much power, because after all... excursion only gets you output down low. If this is truly for SPL at 35 or 40 or 50 or 60hz, then the PA-5100 would be the way to go! The new TC4-Radial motors are not even out yet, in fact they only exist in my PC right now. Here is a rendering.

CBFryman, I don't mean to sound rude, but I'm simply telling you, not debating. I think if I took a picture of the coils next to eachother you would understand.

Are you kidding? The 4HP's will walk over an MT.. much bigger motor, much larger coil, almost 3 times the power handeling. This MT that I reconed was blown with a 2500 amp. The 4HP will run cool off that wiht a sinwave at 20hz.

Why not just buy a TC driver? The 5000's are less money than the MT.

The Q is not very important because that can change depending on install. The efficency is very important, but keep in mind the LMS-5400 is twice the price of the RL-s. RL-s can still pretty much smoke the best of em.

I'm not sure what basket you have, but the TC3000 soft parts require a 10" spider and the spacers are tall too, I know for a fact the 12 spoke and 4 spoke baskets that many companies like DD and RE use will not work.. they are too small. Its best you replace the entire top assembly to get the most out of the motor. I could give you smaller spiders with no spacing but then you're just back to a normal softparts. Whats your email address? Elias, the tc2k is a TC9 mot.

CBFryman, The tc3k is the 3HP motor, Both the TC9 and 3HP use a 3" diam vc. The 3HP motor is a little taller for a little more Bl and xmech About the MT

The 5400's are ready now. Here's the T/S for thers 15" Qts = 0.256 Total Q Qes = 0.265 Electrical Q Qms = 7.260 Mechanical Q Fs = 18.758 Hertz, Free Air Resonance Res = 4 Ohms, DC resistance Ls = 3.276m H, series inductance Lp = 5.831m H, lossy series inductance Rp = 4.467 Ohms, loss across Lp Dia = 330m meters, effective (%shift) 20.1 %, resonance with mass Vas = 193.1 litres, air volume equivalent mms = 383 grams, effective mass cms = 187.9u m/N, compliance bl = 26.09 T*m, motor strength n0 = 461.9m %, max efficiency SplSens = 88.64 dBSPL max @1W absorbed hardly inefficient and hardly high Q.

"bass" The SX has more motor for smaller boxes, most likely higher output with full power, the T2K will have better mechanical linearity

got the forums back online.. what a nightmare upgrade that was. Joe, did you get your driver?

If you want to test the 12 or 10" LMS-4000 i can arrange that, i cant give you an 18 right now.

I think we opened some worms here, the argument Dan has with LMT/LMS are mostly just differences between overhung vs. under hung coils which avoids the real purpose of the designs: A flat BL graph, to which I can completely assure you that our LMT measures much flatter and is more consistent, a point that Dan completely avoids but is very relevant. Contrary to his argument, our LMS drivers don

What exactly do you do at TC? A lot of different stuff, prototype design in 3dmax, network administration, website design and maintenance, testing and measuring, making sure we have the exact parts we need, QC is a big concern of mine. Help making the big transition from OEM to direct and being a good apprentice of Thilo

Hey Joe, we'll make it up to you somehow, its been a rough take off here, I just had our damn forums hacked so I have to install new software tomorrow that I just bought and then spend another day on the skin. The parts have been a problem but they are all on their way. We have decided to improve a lot of the parts we have been using for our customers over the last few years and the more we get into it, the more we want to change. My goal is to have everything in stock ASAP, meaning a 1-2 day turn around for shipping. The TC-3000

ok so you're not giving away a 4hp but are you giving away a 3hp? No specials yet, we may have some cool sales once we stack inventory on our new stuff. why is the TC9 platform so compareable to other high end drivers from other companies that have no better motor platform yet you still have 2 or 3 steps above it? The TC9 motor can produce an incredible amount of bass. In fact, you would be hard pressed to find a more robust motor in almost any high performance home theater subwoofer. The TC9 has a lot of potential and keep in mind, home theater designers can tweak subwoofers to get the most out of them because they have the engineering experience, development time, and tools necessary to squeeze everything out of a driver.

how did you get involved in audio? Picked up some multimedia speakers back in 1998 and decided I liked speakers ever since. After a while I started looking into more expensive stuff then buying more expensive stuff. I slowly went through speaker after speaker and you know once you get rid of something new after about 3 weeks you have a problem. how did you end up at tcsounds? I happen to live very close, or at least I moved close when I transferred into UCSD. I walked in looking for an OEM to develop some subs for a system design I was pursing in my free time, and Thilo offered me an internship. I currently attend UCSD and he had a few other interns from UCSD. He himself also went to UCSD so I
