Mr. Bojangles 06 Tahoe Build Log (Six sa-10s)
I'm going to be posting random pictures of my installation progress here, and keeping notes of what I have\still need. Excuse the brevity! What I have installed currently: Optima yellow top 4awg from the hood to the rear directed 1200/6 amplifier 2x orion p10d4 (old model subs\amp) stock speakers stock hu - using a line out converter What I have but not installed: mbquart pvi216 component set - most likely will be replaced later 1x sae-1200d 1x sax-125.2 What I still need to purchase: some pioneer HU with, steering wheel controls, onstar, dashkit another sae-1200d some good subs (4xsa-10s? not sure yet.) another battery HO alt (200amp+) 0awg wire, big 3 Ok so that's most of it..Now that I got that out of the way..This is what I did tonight: Sealed the rear vents in my truck. First time using spray on foam, I think it turned out pretty well..Got rid of the rattling. Installed a stinger volt meter: slightly crooked, but good enough i suppose... getting ready to hook up to the amp and test my voltages for tuning the stinger unit... turned out it was tuned fine right off the bat. sweet. testing before i throw it in the dash. it's crimped tight..i really need heat shrink wrap and a hot air gun.. All set!! it's pretty bright, need to tint it later... Also, some battle wounds struggling with routing the wires under the dash: (yeah, i'll cut my nails)

Good smartphones and providers.
I believe the new iphone is going to be released this year, and from what I've seen it looks pretty sick. Might be worth waiting for...Otherwise I would look into android phones.

Sundown SA-10 Pre-Sale
Are you still taking preoders for the sa-10's? I sent some emails inquiring about them and a payment arrangement..(Kind of impatient, sorry.)

What's involved in diagnosing and repairing amplifiers?
You're right, I can't just jump in and expect results. Building small scale amplifiers (headphone amps, etc) and learning the theory of them is probably the route to go. Thanks.

What's involved in diagnosing and repairing amplifiers?
I'm thinking of purchasing a cheap broken amplifier off ebay just to try to learn to repair it. I'm a fairly fast learner and am good at learning new things, so it seems like it might be a fun challenge... What's exactly involved? I know I would need a test power supply (computer psu?), dmm, soldering kit... Is the basic technique to just look for components that are burnt or have failed and replace them?

Wow. Glad he got it resolved.

Sealing rear vents on a tahoe..
I believe so. Foam it is then, thanks guys!

Sealing rear vents on a tahoe..
Thanks for the reply. What kind of foam? Just sheets of it and you put it behind the interior pillars or? Like expanding spray foam. Lowes or a place like that would sell it. I think wal mart sells it aswell. I'll check it out. Thanks man. Did you notice any difference in sound, and door functionality when you sealed yours up?

Sealing rear vents on a tahoe..
I'd prefer temporary but something that will hold up for quite awhile...Isn't pressure escaping from the rear (where the subs are) a bad thing? Standing near the vents with my subs on now, it sounds pretty bad also. I read on some forum that it makes it harder or changes the way the doors open, which makes sense I guess..

Sealing rear vents on a tahoe..
So i've been doing some reading and I'd like to seal the rear vents in my '06 tahoe. I've never worked with sound dampener before but I think that's the best route to go..Any suggestions as to what I need to buy or the best way to do this? Pic of someone elses truck an the vents in question:

here you guys go.

is anybody familiar with this amp??
Any idea what country it's made in? I'd rather put my money into sundown, considering I have experience with them.

how long im i suppose to wait
I would think they have other aspects of their company to manage. It's probably more efficient for them to do it one day out of the week in order to manage their time, and make sure everyone's happy.

any suggestions for a 3 or 4 day strength\hypertrophy routine?
Hey. So basically I was working out 6 days a week before, started a cut, lost 20lbs (some muscle, and strength)...Sucks. My schedule is all screwy now and I need a new solid routine for strength\hypertrophy, with an emphasis on compound exercises... Any suggestions?

2v preamp outputs?
Hi. I'm looking into head units and came across a Pioneer MVH-P8200...I noticed in the specs it states 2v output, is this too low? I'm planning on running a sax-125.2 and 1 or 2 sae-1200dv2 (eventually just one more powerful amp). How would this affect power output at the amps and gain settings? Thanks.

Amp Rack Idea - Feedback for noob?
So basically I'm slowly piecing my system together and had an idea for an amp rack that is somewhat "expandable". It consists of a wooden base, with a wooden box attached to the end of it for the amps, batteries, etc to be placed into. I'm planning on having ventilation and having the rear of it open faced. It would have shelving for the amps.I'm thinking I could secure the wooden base to these strap hooks I have in the rear of my truck (2006 tahoe), have them protude through the bottom then either use a heavy duty strap or bolts through them. I'd rather not drill into the body anymore than I have in order to secure it. One of the reasons I'd like this design is for security purposes, so people can't look through my (tinted) windows and see various amps\equipment. The basic concept is to have the ability to attach a subwoofer box to the base platform, having a secondary base\mount of sorts that the box can sit in and then screw that in or add latches to the side of the box to secure it further. I don't know how vibration\rattle would affect this, but I suppose if it's secured properly it'd be ok? I've never really worked with wood before but I figure I can get home depot to cut the pieces to size and then wood glue + screw it together it'd work out? The back area is pretty much square, no need to worry about tirewell corners, etc. Would MDF suffice for this? Attached is a ghetto mspaint of what I'm thinking. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

Xover not working on new amp
Ok! I set the head unit bass gain to 50%, the channels to 100% rear (those are the outputs to the amp) and played a 100hz test tone. (sine wave) Readings: Xover on center: 10.1 Xover 100%: 22.7 Xover 0%: 3.7 So since the voltage is changing, it's a problem with my input signal? Looks like the crossover is functioning just fine. Based on those voltages, the signal was down -15db @ 100hz when the crossover was set to 50hz, which is -3db more than expected (12db/oct slope) but could be due to inaccuracies in the crossovers (the pot style crossovers on amplifiers are rarely 100% accurate in range from the tests I've seen). So just to clarify, the two problems you are experiencing is weak output from the amplifier and you feel you are getting too much of the higher range of sound out of the subwoofer? Correct. I had the x-over down to 50hz and still could hear vocals. Power output may be subpar, I didn't really bump it for long since i wasn't sure what was being fed through the subs and didn't want to damage them. When I did have it up high it seemed as if my old amp which is putting out roughly 600watts less powered the subs better. The subs are under powered by 200 watts each. I was thinking I could possibly try turning the gain down on the LOC? I don't know how that would affect the crossover and what it does to the input signal.
