Waterbottle dancing from the Re Sx 10
Nice dance moves mister water bottle! I was doing this the other day but with a full can on Mt. Dew on the roof. Flex is sweet, but crap at the same time. haha

Amp voltage issue
That's kinda what I was leaning towards after thinking about it after I posted. My current unit is just a POS Jensen Screen. I only bought it because scrolling through my iPod is cumbersome an album or artist at a time. 5700+ songs, 586 Artist, etc..... It does act buggy once in a while by freezing up or I hit the back button to restart a song and it pauses the song or does nothing at all. Worst 300 I ever spent in my life! I'll swap heads out with another pioneer I have here and see if that clears it up. I didn't notice on my old temp setup as the amp didn't have a gain knob. You would just select 0db, -6db. -12db, etc and that's how you set the power. Hope this fixes the problem. Thanks for the reply!

Amp voltage issue
I have a Soundstream RUB 1600 watt amp wire at 1 ohm. When I set my gains I used the typical 50hz, sub wires disconnected, etc... I set the voltage to 40 volts on the nuts. Hooked everything back up and let er rip. Sounds fine. Well I finally got around to mounting the amp and cleaning up the wires. Before I did that though I double checked my gains. Voltage was at 47 volts? What would cause it to rise like that? I used the same tone as before. So I have been checking it off and on for the last couple days and sure enough, volts keep rising up even the the gain knob hasn't been touched. Any idea on why it would do this? I've checked everything from the battery back and everything is secure and tight. Could the amp be fubar for some reason? Its brand new and only been running for around week now? It has also made what sounds like thunder today. It did it when I was leaving the golf course. I had it on volume 10 and the bass sound like low rumbling? Song was Black Eye Pea's Boom Boom Pow, at the very start of the song when the actual bass line and vocals start. ( as opposed to the intro that has a few rumbling spots ) The song sounded super clean when I got to the course. And off but on topic: My amp has a switch for .2v-2v and 2v-8v. When in the .2-2v setting the gain knob barely gets turned to hit 40 volts, but in the 2-8 setting I have to turn it up a little passed 3/4's to hit 40 volts. Is one setting better then the other? Or does it not matter as long as its hitting 40 volts. I couldn't hear a difference between the 2. I have 2 volt preouts. Pic of the switch:

I fuckin miss NY
I hear you! I'm from Chicago and I now live in a tiny hick town in the middle of Wisconsin. Came here for college when I was 25. I have since had a kid and now there is no going back since his mom and I don't get along anymore and separated. I can't leave my little man behind. So now I pretty much just work and sit home. If you don't hunt, fish, wear camo, drive a beat-up truck, and get drunk every night you are an outcast! lol Especially me since I have a system, and I'm a Cubs and Bears fan and proudly show it. I get heckled every time I go out by some jackass for reppin those teams via a shirt or hat. I mostly think they don't like me because I am educated, own my own business, and have all my teeth!

New guy
Fi SSD 15. 199.99 plus shipping. 800 rms. Ported box @ 30 hz would rock!
-
Sigh..
That sucks man! Any chance insurance will cover it? My policy came with additional 10,000 coverage for any items in the car. That's one of the first things I looked for because of all the business stuff I travel with. Plus personal items of course.

Screws
You could use normal coarse thread sheet rock screws. Or what I like to use are t-nuts and security screws. Much stronger and it lets you take the sub in and out without drilling new holes.

140 db set up on a single Fi Q12?
So your saying this Fi Q12 couldn't reach 140 db? No, I'm saying you picked the wrong woofer to chase numbers with. I never said anything about not being able to do it. Good luck, though. My buddy has 2 15 Qs on 2200rms and was doing 143s. I'd be very impressed to see a single 12 do 140s. Again, it all depends on the install and the vehicle its in. 1 12 in a sealed up trunk, probably not. But then again look at the thread with the guy running 2 SA-12's doing 150s! So you never know. 1-12 in a pick-up truck, very do able. Look at what Im Hung's buddy did with a box tuned low and voltage issues. While I think its cool when people put up big numbers, I am far more impressed when someone pulls it off from a trunk in a 4 door car or an suv. No offense intended to anyone, but who couldn't get loud in a crx or a truck. Hell the TL is only 3 1/2 feet away! lol

140 db set up on a single Fi Q12?
x2 but that's just personal opinion. I'll never understand the people that drop 30k+ into a setup that plays 1 tone. But to each their own! I like loud, but only if it sounds good doing it. And spl depends on way to many things. Its all about the build and what vehicle its going into.

$100 components
I am in the same boat as you. Looking around at cheap component sets. I figure just about any set would sound better then my stock speakers. So I'm tuning in to this thread. These are what I am looking at: Reference 6820cs I have stock 6x8's in the doors, and I have already applied deadener to them. Hoping to just swap them out for now until I can build the doors out.

I thought I was gonna get heart attack
Sweet 1st gen Box and glad everything was ok!

Why is car audio so appealing.
x2 plus ballgasms.... who doesn't like the feeling of their testicles dancing around at 140+ db @ 30hz?

2- 12" SSD playing music and a tone
Need to bolt the box down because the flex is causing it to walk around the back of the cargo bay. Picked up brackets last night. So this week its finish tucking wires, mounting the amp, and bolting the box down. Still saving for some components! 0 mid-bass right now!

typical fed ex
I had the same thing happen when my 2 ssd 12's came in one big box. Guy was handing it to me saying how heavy it was. Big built guy too. I said its only 54 pounds dude... man up. lol He was so doing the waddle as he struggled up the driveway. So funny!

2 ssd 12's @ 23 hz flexing the tailgate a bit
haha! Looks that way cause the FPS on the blackberry suck. The window moves in and out so fast. Hope the JVC will do a better job of catching it.

2 ssd 12's @ 23 hz flexing the tailgate a bit
Thanks Cableguy and yes Denim they are! Sound super clean and hit hard! Didn't think they would move that much air either in an SUV but they do. Hopefully I'll find that cord in the next few days and post a better video. Here is one more I took with the black berry that I posted in my build log. Playing just a plain bass track.

2 ssd 12's @ 23 hz flexing the tailgate a bit
Just a quick video I took with my Blackberry today. I can't find the cord for my JVC Camcorder that hooks it to the computer. So specs for this video are as follows: 2- 12" SSD subs Stock specs 4 cube box tuned to 30hz Subsonic set at 27 hz volume 15 ( gain set at volume 30) Subwoofer set at -7 at the head-unit ( gain setup with sub at 0 on the head-unit ) 1600 watt Soundstream Amp I was amazed at how much flex it created at such a low volume. Once I find that cord I'll upload a better video that shows just about all the flex like the windows, roof, etc... Really happy with these subs! Sound awesome even at full tilt playing music! And yes, I did drop my phone... cause I'm a tool. lol Still need to tuck the wires just haven't had time and I really wanted to hear it. Will be done this week though.

Quick video via my Black Berry playing a bass song. Camera picks up flex for crap. New video coming tomorrow after I change my JVC up.

1998 Explorer Sport Build
Finished the box yesterday and loaded up the subs this morning! Its is storming out right now so i didn't spend a ton of time out with it. Output at first was kinda weak and didn't seem any louder then my 12" Orion on 500 watts. Stood in the rain watching the cone when I noticed one was wired out of phase. So I pulled it, rewired it and stuck it back in. I totally agree with everyone that says these subs are under rated! Output is insane and damn these things move some air. At full tilt on music my eyes jump around so much! VERY happy I went with these subs! Video to come once the rain finally passes, which won't be for a few days.

2010 Camry build log.
On the 2009's I found out it's the on-off switch for the keyless entry system installed at the port. So its probably the same for the 2010. Made by Audiovox and its a factory install.

Does your car have remote start by chance? If it does its the kill switch for that.

1998 Explorer Sport Build
It's just amazing how I can't build a box to save my life but my buddy and I built his entire house. I didn't have a single issue then. Now I'm like saw handicapped or something?

1998 Explorer Sport Build
Finally have some time to post pics. VERY slow build process because I own my own business so I work ALL THE TIME! lol I'm also a single parent so that makes it tough too. Anyways, here is what I have been up to this last week. DB Electric Alt. NOT HAPPY. Battery at idle sits at 12.8 volts. Called and the told me the pulley is smaller so use a smaller belt. Check... didn't do a thing. So then I swapped pullies out from the old to the new, nope... didn't help. Brand new belts too. Wasted 33 bucks on a belt I'll never use now. So now I wanna send it back but they are going to charge me a 25% restocking fee.... total bs. My stock alt is 130 amp, so I'm just going to run that one until I have cash to drop on a $400 quality alt. Optima in, big 3 done, power and ground wires all ran Started building my box today. So I made the kid cut the grass so I could keep working. Craptastic box. Man I suck at cutting straight! Stupid stuff too like cutting on the wrong side of the line, plus the blade width, leaving the piece an 1/8" short. Nothing that a bit of sanding and caulk wont fix. Kinda ghetto but its all I can do. 3 sides are done with the top just resting for show. Another view All of the inside corner pieces are cut and the back to corners are already glued and caulked. Still need to cut the ports and the holes out of the second baffle before I glue them. If you are wondering this is the ICON dual 12 ported box from the tech section. 4 cubes @ 30 hz with 55 sq inches of port. Hope to finish the rest next week and final get it in the Explorer. And the new box is just sitting on an unfinished sealed box so I don't have to bend over as much. I'm 6'6" so I'm not fond of things on the ground. I also used up all my deadening tiles but I didn't take pics of that. 40 tiles total went in trouble area's. It really made a huge difference in most spots so I am glad I did pick those up. More to come next week I hope and if all goes right I have a video too.

wat to get
x2 That's what I would do. Or even go with more cone area instead of two high power 15's you could do 4 12's. 4- Dcon 12d4's wired to 2 ohms on a Stetsom V 1K5 H. Put them in like 7-8 cubes tuned to 32hz. Minus a box that would set you back around $950 before shipping.
