  1. Been a member since I ordered my 2 stock spec SSD 12's a couple of weeks ago. I have noticed most people tend to go for BL's and BTL's. So all you fellow SSD owners let's see what you got and how you like them. Pics and videos would be nice too! Info on spl numbers, what kinda box you're running, auto make and model, etc.... Anything you wanna share. Mine come tomorrow so I won't have them in the car for a couple of weeks while I run new power wire and build the box. Def taking some pics though. So show some Fi SSD love people! Let's put all these BL and BTL threads to shame!
  2. Sweet! My 2 12" ssd are due here tomorrow! Can't wait to see them up close. Went from 2 RE XXX 18's in 12 cubes on 4500 watts to an Orion 12 in 1.5 cubes with 200 watts. So it will be nice to get the boost in output. Little man was born so I needed room in the cargo area for strollers and stuff. Reason for the big change... Lol Now he is a year old and I don't carry around nearly as much so...
  3. x2 on a VW GLI or GTI or a fully loaded Jetta.. Couple of BMW's found on ebay though.... 2005 525i 2006 325i
  4. No kidding! I'm paying $32 + tax per 3/4" 4x8 sheet!
  5. Thanks for the help! Much appreciated! Now its time to go get some mdf and get building!
  6. What effect would either box have on the ssd's then? Stock spec ssd's. Specs below but I am sure you have seen them before: Fs: 30.1 Hz | 30.1 Hz Re: 0.7 Ohms/coil | 1.4 Ohms/coil Qms: 7.65 | 7.65 Qes: .37 | .37 Qts: .36 | .36 Mms: 248g | 248g Cms: 0.11mm/N | 0.11mm/N Sd: 480cm^2 | 480cm^2 Vas: 36.5 l | 36.5 l Spl: 86.1dB 1W/1m | 86.1dB 1W/1m Bl: 13.1 N/A | 18.7 N/A Xmax: 21mm Rms: 800W Sealed box: .7-1.2 cuft Ported box: 1.8-2.5 cuft @ 33Hz Sub OD: 12.500” Cut ID: 11.125” Mounting depth: 6.500” Displacement: 0.14cuft
  7. I moving up from an old 200 rms orion 12" sub to 2-fi ssd's with 1600 watts to them ( or what ever my Soundstream will really put down. lol ) Now looking at the follow 2 box designs from here, ( which is super sweet that you guys posted these! ) Box 1. 12" xcon ported Box 2. 12" icon ported Outside of what appears to be an extra dolly of vertical bracing and total port area are the pretty much the same. Of course the overall dimensions are a bit different, but they have the same internal volume and tuning frequency. So which box is better? More port area make a difference when tuning is the same? Any in-site is much appreciated. Got the email today that the subs shipped so I wanna get to building the box! Yes I am a newbie when it comes to box designs as I have only built one in my life for my old RE XXX 18, but my electrical will handle the draw ( see below )... 0 awg big 3, 0 awg power wire, HO alternator, optima Yellow top. I am actually going to do a build log on this one with the box and upgrades in 4 stages. Stage 1: Box build plus metering of current system just because I wanna see how big of an increase I gain. lol Stage 2: 0 gauge power wire: stock electrical. Will be metered on TL post sub breaking period at the dash. Stage 3: Big 3 with 0 gauge. Metered again Stage 4: HO alternator and optima: Metered final time Just for fun and to see how much the upgrades will effect output of the amp and spl. I know it will make a difference but it gives me something to do...
