  1. Today is definitely not a "working" kind of day. Seems like all of us in the HOP have a case of the grumps.
  2. It would be just doing some install-type stuff for now. That's good enough until I'm done school, I think. It would be nice to use my brain like I should, though.
  3. There's a pro audio position open locally that I think I might apply for. Maybe do something that I would actually enjoy?
  4. Sounds like you guys really tied one on.
  5. Does that mean IXL's, or MJ's? Or did you start whiling out and get an SDX15?
  6. Hey Jim, I was just taking a look at Foobar for a quick second. The default setting for album sorting (Preferences>Advanced) is good enough. On the upper right hand side (or lower right hand side), there is the order selector, where you can choose Default, Repeat (Playlist), Repeat (Track), Shuffle (Albums), Shuffle (Directories), Shuffle (Tracks). If you select Shuffle (Albums), it will play through one album, then move to a random album and play through that one, then move to another random album, etc. The only catch is that if you're listening to the last track of an album and press the Next button to skip to the next track, it will play the first song of the album that directly follows the one you're listening to. The Shuffle (Albums) function is still kind of linear and works best when you have a lot of albums in there. For example, when I have 5 or 6 albums in the playlist, it plays 2 or 3 albums in the order they are in the playlist rather than shuffling. However, when I load a bunch more, it gets pretty random.
  7. Yeah, it did sound weird once I read it after.
  8. Today is going to be fun. A football game, food, and something to give me the munchies.
  9. Check the spacing between the top plate and former if you can. I don't know the exact spacing difference between the daily and the SPL option; Scott would know that, though.
  10. I can't possibly imagine it doing poorly. It'll be interesting to see what Jim has to say about it.
  11. I believe you have enough posts now to sell what you want. I think 20 or 25 is the requirement.
  12. Mine fits nicely. I'll show you how ripped I am around midnight when I get home.
  13. Which came with a ridiculous storm. I remember driving home and listening to the "play by play" of the storm on the radio. I couldn't imagine sitting in traffic for 4, 5, 6 hours or more.
  14. Yup. It's only September, but Winter feels right around the corner this year. I sure hope so as I greatly prefer it to all other seasons.
  15. CSS is considerably more popular in the home audio world; doesn't seem that many into car audio world use their products, which is a shame on their part. I personally have not used the SD12 but I have used some of the other CSS offerings and would never hesitate to recommend their products. I think there are a couple of reviews on hometheaterforum and a couple others. Hopefully Kyle can point you in the right direction. You can also contact Bob Reimer (owner of CSS) via his website at www.creativesound.ca
  16. Heading to the Twin Cities tomorrow That will be exciting. Buy Sean a lap dance for me while you're there.
  17. I dropped Japanese on Saturday's because I'm too busy already. My computer science class on Wednesday's is filled with numbskulls and the teacher is really sub-par, so it's tough to motivate myself to attend. No tests yet, though.
  18. So busy lately. How/what is everyone doing?
  19. Oh Jim... you have bested me again! Recommendations are for the 15" Icon, as that is the size I used. Hopefully in the near future I will have some of the 10's and 12's up here as well. For 2.5-3 cubes, I would say no more than 1 kW is necessary in the house. For those who really like to push their subs in a vehicle, you could do 1500 W on the smaller side. For 4-5.5 cubes, I'd say 500-800 W is appropriate. Keep in mind that music is very transient in nature; if you're putting 1.5kW on the Icon via a lower frequency sine wave for many successive hours, you will be putting the coil in more trouble than is necessary.
  20. So after quite a while, the suspension has broken in a fair bit. The sound is very pleasant; it's both controlled without being sharp. Someone asked on another forum about comparisons to other subs, more specifically, the IDQ's. I would recommend the Icon ahead of every ID product I have heard, which includes the IDMAX. I would put this sub up there with quite a few different top tier SQ subs that have good output as well. Keep in mind that how well it works for you will depend largely on your enclosure and other speakers in the system (as with most subs) but I think if you can do that even half right, you'll be very satisfied with the Icon. I almost wish they had gone with a single spider or maybe used slightly softer spiders from the get go. Originally, I think I would have said the Icon was above average. Now, I would say that it is great and only bested by a few products with considerably different (and more expensive) motors.
  21. I've been meaning to do this for a while but haven't had a chance yet. 15" Icon Home Sealed Lower power - 4-5.5 cubes Higher power - 2.5-3 cubes sealed Home Ported Music - 4 cubes tuned to 30 Hz Home Theatre - 5 cubes tuned to 20 Hz (can tune lower if wanted) Vehicle Sealed 2-2.5 cubes sealed Vehicle Ported 3.5-4 cubes tuned anywhere from 28-35 Hz Any of those should work just fine. It's very important that you match your enclosure to your application. If you do so, you'll be very happy.
  22. Start a FaceBook group. That's where the cool kids are now.
  23. Unfortunately, that won't randomly play albums. It will just play each queued album one after the other.
  24. It's a shame they could never quite get it to do what they said it would.
  25. Yeah, there's a lot of great performance subs out there at extremely affordable prices. I think you'll have a lot of fun with the Havoc's. Paired with a sealed enclosure in the size you mentioned, I'm quite sure you'll find a lot of great output at low frequencies with good balance and "tightness". Should be a lot of fun.
